What theater is this.
-
which place is this??? -
Joining the question, for the first time I can see Falcon 4 theater where world scale feels right.
-
Looks like it’s from these guys, but not 100% - https://www.31st.nl/

The theater is named in the video description.
It’s also private, iirc.

well that’s sad. I was so happy to see some good elevation model. aahh… i think DEM WILL always be just a dream

YT is not reserved for publically accessible events. If you post a video of your kids birthdayparty (I know, but some people do :D) I don’t expect an invite either. Sometimes you just want to share the fun you’re having.
-
Gotcha ! Private fun party …. nice work on the theater !
-
All credits to Nighteyes… who knows, he might deem it finished enough one day and release it
-
Why share a video online if it is private and won’t be released ? I don’t get it.
Mountains look horrible anyway. It vaguely reminds Balkans near Bolzano - i tried but perhaps because it’s at the edge of the map it’s covered in perma fog.

It’s because terrain mesh is low resolution, maybe once I-Hawk will do his magic, BMS wil be able to handle it in much higher res.

sooooo looking forward to it…

Wow! Steep-sided mountains to fly through in BMS! This is really cool!
:bounce: :high5:
I’m really glad to see someone made terrain like this. Granted, BMS still has limitations to the density of points in the terrain model, so the terrain is not very high-res. But seeing those big, beautiful, steep mountains, and seeing them through the canopy of a BMS Viper… that’s really neat. Even if I don’t get to fly in this theater, I’m glad it exists.
Maybe someday we’ll get high-density terrain in BMS, maybe we won’t, either way, I’m going to keep learning BMS. It’s still my “one and only” when it comes to flight sims.
I like BMS so much I’ll always fly it, even without high-res terrain. The BMS Viper is just so sweet, as is the world of technical and combat detail in which it exists.
But this video reminds me of just how wonderful it would really be if BMS ever had higher-fidelity terrain. Oh man, what a dream!
“The dream is always the same…”
Heading northeast over Olancha. Wide right turn around the north end of the Coso range. Talc City Hills in sight, and the Darwin Plateau just beyond. Can just catch sight of the far side of the valley, with the capping basalt sitting on the Paleozoic section, atop the Butte. Telescope off to the south. A few cars on Hwy 190 right below me. Drop-in point in sight. 500 feet, 500 knots. Call the Transition…

Your last paragraph reads like a book I would buy

Just a bit yes

It reminded me of something really great I once read. Cheers!

Thank you very much for the kind words, Fluke and Punisher!
I’ve spent a lot of time on the ground in the R-2508 complex over the years, enjoying what I used to call “an airshow every day”, although it’s really more of a sound show, since the jets are usually far above. But even before I knew about Star Wars Canyon, I saw some nice close passes over the years, and had some other nice views, like looking down on F-117s and B-2s from the mountains, or seeing fighters popping flares while BFM-ing. Scanned some old 35mm slides recently and found pictures of an F-4 and a B-2, albeit not occupying very big parts of the slides!
In recent years, my trips to that part of the desert began to incorporate days at SWC. I was very sad to read about last year’s crash there, and I hope see flights resume there someday. Even if not, there’s a ton of wonderful terrain to explore out there, all of which has some chance of seeing aircraft. I’ve noticed pairs of T-Bird planes practicing `smoke-on’ loops above the Ballarat embayment in recent years., south of point Juliet.
If I could ever make a “cinematic” video while flying over high-resolution R-2508 terrain in BMS, it would start at SWC, but would then go to other peaks and canyons that I came to know on foot and by by 4WD, and even by helo a few times.
For anyone who hasn’t taken a U.S. vacation in the desert, it’s well worth spending time out there, as long as it’s not in the summer. Lots of great planes and mountains

Thanx for your supportive post!

I stated that on Hoggit so why not here: it’s not a question of “if” anymore but only of “when”. It’ll take time but we will get there, you will one day be able to fly through the Grand Canyon in BMS with real mesh and not those steep triangles
