Falcon 4.0
-
Hi All
Hey I know this might sound weird but just realised today, prior to installing 4.35 I did a fresh install of windows, and after this I forgot to reinstall Falcon 4.0 (prior to 4.35) which I have sitting in steam.
4.35 is running fine without Falcon 4.0 installed on my computer.
How can that be???

BMS is standalone, no need Falcon 4.0 to work. It just need the install somewhere in the register to install BMS.

DavidLook in your x:/SteamLibrary/SteamApps/Common Library, bet Falcon 4.0 is installed/listed there…

That’s incorrect and dangerously unhelpful advice.
The BMS Team’s agreement with Tommo requires that Falcon 4.0 is present on a system running BMS code and the code mode definitely checks for that install. Please do not attempt to work around that requirement. It says clearly in the EULA that the Falcon BMS is a community mod for Falcon 4.0 not a standalone game and you agree to that EULA when you install the mod.

Hi, David,
Technically, what you need is the F4.exe. And, as mentioned, even if you can, don’t try any “workarounds”. But more to the point, once you have installed 4.0 , you do not need to reinstall it for future updates of BMS. -
I’m going to be polite but my instinct is not to…
Please don’t speculate about ideas that might make it tempting for people to try and skirt the requirement for a complete Falcon 4.0 install. If you do, you will either endanger the BMS team’s ability to continue delivering releases in the worst case or you will at least force us to do even more work to ensure that any gap you might think you have found is closed. The development team has better things to spend its time on.
So again please: let’s all just play by the rules, OK??

I’d say Moderators should remove the entire post.

I don’t know if this was addressed to me or not, but if so I can be polite, too. I was not speculating , and I don’t think the Ops was either. And I always play by the rules.
But, let me add my .02. Boxer is right, DON’T MESS WITH THIS!
How’s that, B? -
Let’s try this – put yourself in the team’s shoes and imagine that theoretically if we thought anyone in this thread was not in fact “just idly speculating”, or was giving others ideas for similar speculation, regarding ways to avoid following the intent of the check for a complete Falcon 4.0 install then we’d have to wave the ban hammer and chop bits of the thread and all of that’s best avoided unless someone makes it more blatantly obvious that they need a timeout… I really feel like I should not have had to visit the thread with essentially that same message twice…but it seemed like a need.

Hi All
Apologies for opening a can of worms with this thread (didn’t mean too), Icer is correct …
Look in your x:/SteamLibrary/SteamApps/Common Library, bet Falcon 4.0 is installed/listed there…
After my windows reinstall yes there it is (I checked)….
Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Falcon 4.0

Maybe just a miss spelling. I didn’t say that you don’t need to install it (at least this is not what I mean to say. More that BMS install is stand alone by itself.

I am closing the thread since it has now run its course. The OP got his answer, clarifications and stern warnings have been given and the thread serves no other good purpose.
As a final note, adhere to the BMS EULA which stipulates that you have Falcon 4.0 present on your computer or jeopardize our collective ability to enjoy BMS for the time to come.
