F-14D Cockpit
-
Guys, this is off topic, but at FF used to be a fan named Corto and he already had a complete F-14D 3D model of IMHO great appearance. If anyone of the BMS devs knows whom I mean and has a contact addy or so, he might eventually (?) be willing to talk about his model.-Imagine a new 3D model as addition, that would make a lot of guys incl. me happy.
I was always sad his work was not adopted by FF albeit I understood the reasons and have no bad feelings towards that. But such a beautiful model, for those who remember.
Edit: Forgetto, last active 02-10-2010Carry on…

Looks very well… Excellent work !
Will it be clickable too? That would be terrific to use it from ramp start procedure… I know, i’m dreaming lolThanks for your effort

Thanks very much guys,
@trolltray
Hopefully I will get one day to completion! If I do my plans were as follows (if I learn/find somebody that implements it in BMS)
Release 1 - Static cockpit, possibly MFD and HUD only!
Release 2 - As above but with main instruments and some gauges working
Release 3 - As above but with all gauges working
Release 4 - Basic clickable functions….
Release 5 - ….I will probably be dead by then! :headb:If the project matures a bit more and if anybody is interested I will desperately ask for help to anybody that is willing to give it!
Enjoy the weekend guys!

Promising schedule… thou you can skip R5… not very promising this one…
Patiently waiting.
Keep it up. -
Saturday lazy morning… Just playing around with UVW unwrap…a few things are still a mystery to me…
For the guys that actually know how to do it…how can a I do a texture for different objects but at different times? I can select ALL the objects do UVW unwrap and put everything on a texture but is a mess to identify all the diferent faces OR I can do it by elements (HUD, central pedestal, instruments, MFD) but when I do UVW unwrap I dont see how I have distributed the rest of the elements for other objects and sometimes overlap the texture… Does it make any sense what I say??
Anyway thanks!! I´m off to the pub!

Basicly you do it the right way. You’re using 3D Max? For easier identification of the faces you actually want to place on the texture grid just select them in the viewport on your model, this way you don’t have to fiddel around with all the overlapping faces in the uvw editor!
You know what i mean? And i hope i understood your problem!
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Keep up the great work, your pit looks awesome so far!

This sim with its dynamical shadows cries for even more kickass cockpits and your WIP looks outstanding.
Keep it up man! I would use the headbang mohawk glass guy here, but my much idiotic neighbour who wears a Mohawk, bulletproof thick glasses and a fatf.u.b.a.r round face forever spoiled that emo for me. (Other than that nothing vs Mohawk dudes, not at all).

You can select the polys by element in the UV Editor and try to arrange them as desired. But i never use Max for the unwrap, UVLayout is faster and more effective and it uses symetry.

Looks fantastic!
