Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37

For such a change maybe worth to get yourself into using the profile Editor as with some basic knowledge you could adapt such a change within a few minutes

Was somewhat hoping someone would suggest this. The one major limitation is there is no hydraulic gauges among the included images and I’m not very proficient at creating them from scratch. :tsk: But thanks for the reply Oak’. :thumb:

Helios 1.6 has hydraulic gauges for the viper under F16 gauges in the controls editor. So it’s just a matter of putting them in place and assigning the Falcon bindings

Hi Oakdesign, tnx for your answer. I‘ll give it a try.

So far so good. Disabling the mouse-in-cockpit seems to remedy the problem. I keep my fingers crossed. Tnx, Oakdesign

Thanks Wheelchock…I didn’t see them when I looked earlier, but your reply just says I need to look harder. :nerd:

I have a very customized key file and do not use touch screens but rather physical switches in my pit, including at the CPD.
Do I have to use Ice’s key file, which means a lot of reprogramming of hardware or can I use my custom key file by perhaps renaming in to “BMS - Ice’s Helios Profile”?
I do not use Alt Launcher.TIA

You could with Helios in the BMS interface you can reference a key file. You just need to ensure that all callbacks used by the Helios Profile are in your key file.
For functions such as the buttons on the CPD they are not handled by the keyfile as this are Helios internal touch functions. But you could assign DX Inputs on those Helios Touch buttonsGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

Now I just need to use that combined with the gauges i’m currently using! Is there a Vietnam Map somewhere that will work in Helios?

I’m installing the full profile (not the CPD one), but I’m being told there’s an image missing and the reference is to CPD images (see attachment) though the image is in the standard images folder. If I add the CPD folder the issue goes away.

Helios\Images\FalconBMS Images 4.35\CPD\Buttons\CPD Reset.pngThanks for the information. I’d managed to cross reference the images between the Full and the CPD versions.
The first post has now been updated with the corrected Full 4.35-8 version.
For those that have already downloaded it just replace the “Ice’s Falcon BMS 4.35.hpf” profile file from the corrected version.

Great work and thanks for the support!
A couple of rookie questions that I can’t find an easy answer for:
1. Is there a button somewhere in the panels for the TrackIR reset (F12) hotkey?
2. What is the functional difference between the IFF PANEL vs AUX COMM button toggle? -
1. Would be that hard to add your own TrackIR reset button
2. Depending on which Block you fly you have differences in the Left side panel the button is to show hide either the IFF panel or the AUX Panel.Gesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

I did manage to change the “Hot Start” hotkey to TrackIR reset, but I had to edit the keyfile as well because the F12 callback was not showing up. Basically I copied this line SimDoNothing -1 0 0xB7 0 0 0 -0 “UI: Screenshot (See also section 6.06)” (line 23 in Note++ in Ice’s Helios Keyfile) and pasted it over this line RecenterTrackIR -1 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “SIM: TrackIR Recenter (additional)” in Section 6.06 (line # 1000). Otherwise you will not see “Recenter TrackIR” when you search in the Helios Profile Editor.
Clear as mud, I hope. :thumb:

JollyDoes that mean that you’ve used the “Hot Start” button for TrackIR Reset? If so have you lost the original function on this button? Wouldn’t it have been easier to just create a new button for TrackIR Reset?

Exactly what I would have supposed as well. As simple as dragging a new button into the profile. Next I would not set it on a subpanel that requires an additional touch. Just place it on the main panel and maybe a second one on the enlarged main panel
I personally fly exlusevly Multiplayer and about 50% of the events require Ramp Start 50% Taxiway. And sometimes you have to reconnect in Air so all 3 button presets are really essential

I fly MP too and 99.9% of the time I just click Fly/Taxi. The other 0.1% of the time I fumble my way through a ramp start so Ramp or Hot starts are just superfluous. So I changed them to suit my technique, which includes centering my sticks & track IR before flying. :thumb:

I still think that it would have been better to leave the Hot Start, Air Start and Ramp Start buttons in place should you need them even very occasionally and enlarge the panel and add a row of additional buttons for TrackIR, or better still use oakdesign’s suggestion and add them to the main panel.

Helios vs RTT extraction:
I noticed choppy MFD FRC extraction when using linknet’s profile, and at first I thought I’d have to live with that because of the set g_nRTTExportBatchSize 2 limit as it stands now. Playing around with VSync or monitor refresh rates didn’t solve the issue either. Yesterday, I tried running RTT Client (without the profile loaded) and it is MUCH smoother, even with FPS set to 30 in the RTT config file. Will try again tonight, removing the Helios extracted MFDs and replacing them with RTT MFDs. Not ideal, because yet another app will be running, but I also feel a smooth running FCR is important in A/A combat situations.
