If you could have any place made as a new theater in BMS. Where would you choose?
-
Build the F-86 Sabre and Mig-15, 1950 Korea Map!!
-
Greenland / Iceland / GB… anybody remember the old “harpoon” series, esp. the “GIUK gap” theater? That was great fun and it would probably be in BMS as well if you could fly those intercept missions for real, go sub-hunting, doing some ASW work and what have you. The size probbly exceeds the 128 segment limit by a good margin though
All the best,
Uwe

Yep, GIUK gap was awesome. It’s pretty large area, i’m not sure if new terrain engine would handle theater as large as this one, also it would mean lots of work on the sim core side
Starting with making sim understand water is not a terrain with different texture, implemented naval warfare, ASW operations, probable new sensor types etc …
Also it would beg for proper Tornado/EF2000/Hornet/SuperHornet/Grippen -
Well, well, good catch, dearest Uwe and Xeno….
more than “someone” only (me apart) is still really missing the “Red Storm Raising” scenery here, isn’t it?
Be aware, Uwe, it’s practically all naval that one in those specific places you mentioned, though, you already know it.
And I, who was to propose “War on Martians”, poor me :uham:With best regards to all.

Tibet, for the view, Alps as a poor man substitute.
Hhmmm….
can’t agree at all here, sorry. In what place of France are you living, if I dare to ask, dear mate?
With best regards.

East of France, Switzerland border, beautiful, but no place on earth can outshine Himalayas in my heart, so I’m a bit biased

Central Europe.
Especially the area between Poland, Czechoslovakia and East Germany.
Place of a hypothetical conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. -

Place of a hypothetical conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact.Very nice scenic location. But I doubt that would have been the location of a conflict between NATO and Warsaw pact. A conflict would have started by east-block troops crossing the border westwards. So the (land) battle would have been concentrated in (west-)Germany mainly. But there would have been airstrikes at airfields and strategic targets in surrounding countries.

Fulda Gap would have been the main battleground. Can’t count how many month I spent there on the ground exercising and preparing to defend with my tank company

That how is the NATO imagined. I’m not sure that the WPACT thought the same way.

In 1990 we took over the east German NVA into the Bundeswehr. So from that point on we even officially had access to all the former WP planning so Fulda GAP was considered the main effort area for both sides

After NATO’s victory in Fulda GAP, the main direction is the plains of central Europe.
It,s natural road towards Moscow.
In general, armies attacking Russia marched through Poland in the first place. -
South- America Area of Chile and Argentina

The timing of you guys mentioning the Fulda Gap is interesting as I just sent a pm to the Mafia asking if they’ve read Red Storm Rising and wanted to do such a campaign!

Colombia. Venezuela. Think Cloud9 was working on parts long time ago.

@CAG:
South- America Area of Chile and Argentina
Add Falklands Islands…( or Malvinas if you prefer…)

Wouldn’t Greece vs. Turkey be the perfect PvP theater?

I mean it probably exists already, but still.

I’d like to make it too, as my generation spent so many hours in exercising about that scenery… even if with some needed adaptation, of course.
About its doctrine, the Fulda Gap and its nearby may be considered the key, including specifically the Ruhr and the Hamburg harbour areas however, in my humble opinion.
