Warthog F-16 Joystick vs. CH Pro - anyone made the switch to TM?

Unshifted layer as close to RL for sure.
But even any RL Military simulator I have been trained on had either a shift layer or additional inputs for RL functions that don’t have a system input representation in the real vehicleGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

Btw, Winwing Orion (a Chinese simulation gear manufacturer) is now also working on a F-16 FLCS and TQS (complete with the correct lift-gate for the ident and AB).

It’s still in development but their F-18 HOTAS kits are now landing in the community, I’m awaiting additional reviews but I’m rather excited to see another option appearing, alongside the likes of Virpil.

At $500 USD, this is look like a very impressive piece of kit:

Ok, just curious…This was posted on April 1st. And the “wwsimstore” link is just a “502 Bad gateway”! I’m suspicious!! :suspicious:

The Trainers I fly regularly have no such thing as “shift layers”. But their (RL) HOTAS implementation/mapping does make BMS look like a toy…

I just received my Winwing(WW) Orion HOTAS…price $583.00 out the door. I ordered on the 6/17/21 and it arrived in Alabama on 6/23/21 via FedEx of course from China! It was a total of 4 boxes for the throttle and stick, I quickly unboxed them with feelings of being a little kid on Christmas…assembly required! Winwings customer support is very responsive via email within 24hrs. I was concerned about Key binding for Falcon BMS 4.35 because the throttle base panel: switches, dials, and axis were not recognized in BMS but in the WW sim app pro they all were active/operational! WW response:
Thank you very much for your support.
The BMS is too old and can not support 128 key hardware, please go simapp>test page of orion base, there is a selection to 4x32key device ,change to that model, you will have 4 device in BMS.I followed the instructions given and opened Falcon_BMS_Alternative_Launcher_v1.60. Voilà! Everything worked on the stick , throttle, and throttle panel…what a sigh of relief? Now, Im trying to get things setup the way I had my TM cougar throttle and stick well over a decade ago!
POP QUIZ: Is there still a such thing as stick profiles and does anyone have one for Winwing(WW) Orion HOTAS? If so, please point me in the direction where I can get one…this is what I do miss about my TM cougar throttle and stick!
PS: WinWing sim app pro is geared for DCS only my opinion…I guess us Falconer’s are considered obsolete…HA HA LOL!

I found this DX32 limitation when running a TARGET script that enables DX33-128 on my WartHog HOTAS (throttle only), BMS is the only place I have to stop the script (DCS and IL2 both utilize it) but since it’s a matter of simply clicking “Stop” in the TARGET Script Editor it’s a non-issue… you have the opposite issue, having to “hobble” the WinWing with backwards compatibility for BMS. With the “Release” capability of Alt Launcher I get the same results, all switches function in all positions.

How, or why, would you do that? Is that to help with shift commands? Wouldn’t that cause more problems because you want less than 32?

For BMS I do not run the script as it isn’t needed (and DX33-128 is not even seen by BMS anyway) because we have the “Release” function to give the Warthog Throttle full functionality for 2/3 way toggle switches that do not have a DX# assigned to every switch position. For DCS running the script makes programming every toggle position very easy in the settings window vs. modifying the LUA files to get the toggles to work correctly, plus it never gets overwritten by the numerous updates DCS comes out with. For IL2 it does the same thing… hope that makes some sense.

@icer Looking at the Warthog diagram, I think I understand as not every toggle has a dx for every position. Interestingly, I have no idea how the two POVs work as they don’t seem to have dx assigned. How do you allocate more dx buttons?
Partly, I’m interested because in some games the toggles seem to send constant input to a game causing problems, and I can’t seem to switch them off. Even in Target, I tried some code text but couldn’t set a dx or switch to inactive

.The index finger POV hat on the throttle is OEM assigned as POV1.UP /Down/Left/Right and as such doesn’t use DX #'s. The hat under your thumb uses DX3-6 naturally. I would be happy to share the script I use if you want to try it for “other than BMS” sims/games… https://www.dropbox.com/s/l4pftdd2k7b59tz/Target 128 Buttons.rar?dl=0

Thanks. So, looking at this: MapKey(&Throttle, IDLEROFF, PULSE+DX51); If I had a simple dx32 game, that would put the switch in that position out of use and no longer sending a command, even when in that position?

I’m not sure, but if a game does not “see” DX33-128 (like BMS) I would say the script should not be run at all. You may be better off with something like Joy2Key for that but I really don’t know…
