Ice’s Falcon BMS Profile Updated for BMS 4.37

A bit of a screen dump here guys so bear with me:
Using the AAR TE on the loaded F-16, once the mission starts, I clear the log history, then focus back on BMS and do a couple of dives and climbs. Usually smooth response from Helios during the climbs then laggy performance during the dives for both gauges and MFD displays. From what I can see, some of the cores are over utilised? None of the cores get really hot though, 58-59C max. GPU VRAM gets to 80C, the GPU itself is only 53C.
@linknet @Todd1215 However, I’m no expert at reading these numbers so maybe there’s something there that I’m not seeing?
-
@Atlas I’m even less of an expert at reading these but it seems odd that the GPU Power increases from 40W to over 300W without any increase in fan speed and the Performance Limit kicks in.
Have you tried just monitoring the BMS frame rates during climb and dive?
-
@linknet if the temps don’t get to a certain level, the fans don’t ramp up.
I’m trying to figure out how to record PC performance during a mission but RivaTuner doesn’t seem to work once in 3D?
-
@Atlas Why not just monitor the BMS frame rate throughout the mission? Also what BMS frame rates are you getting in the Benchmark TE?
Reading this it would appear that either load has been transferred from cpu to gpu for 4.36 or there’s just more detail to be processed:

@linknet Not doing the benchmark TE yet as the problem has been presenting itself in the AAR TEs and I want to keep it consistent there. On that TE, I get 160-200+fps according to the BMS framerate counter. MSI AB says 140-200+fps with a 1% low of 92 and 0.01% low of 63, both of which occur during the start of recording and mostly no change during the mission. When the stuttering occurs, I’m at around 190-200fps according to the framerate counter in BMS.
If you think this is a GPU load problem, I’ll see about reducing my settings and see if that helps.

@Atlas - You get 160-200 FPS sitting on the Taxiway in The Benchmark TE?? This is what I get with most settings maxed out, and my system is fairly potent?

@Icer quick test, just sat on the ramp…
-
Hi there!
Is someone working on updating this profile to 4.36 state (new charts, etc.)?
Cheers

Ok, that makes more sense as I was running on the taxiway, this is when I drop in the dead jet on the ramp…
-
@Icer Is it better to test on the ramp or on the taxiway or on the runway start? I may do this testing later on.
-
@Micro_440th Not at the moment.
-
@Atlas Do you have Vertical Sync checked in the BMS graphics settings? Since 4.35 this seemed to have a significant impact on any lag in Helios, but I have no idea why.

I will say I did not and got the lag, but reinstalling and creating a new profile solved it for me…
-
@linknet I’ve not seen the need to turn it on so it has never been turned on. Are you saying turning it on will help?

I’ve never used Triple Buffering either…
-
@Atlas I’m saying that turning it on helped some people, the only way is to try it. Not sure about triple buffering which I don’t think is necessary.
-
@linknet @Icer ok, I’ll try both on/off for vsync and triple buffering.
In the meantime, I’ve got this log from my recent tests. About 2 or 3 cycles of climbs and dives here and aside from a bit of a framerate drop from 200+ to 160, I really can’t see anything that looks like the culprit for the lags. The times when the framerate drops, no CPU usage or CPU temp effects, RAM usage is the same. Some cores seem to be doing more work than others but still the usage on those cores do not really seem to sync up with anything from the framerate drops.
