Thought it would be possible zo define it within the dat file. The real aircraft’s covert lights are embedded within the pos lights, so it’s not necessary to create additional lights for the external 3D Model. Extant positions can be used for this. Or is it necessary to define the covert lights within the LOD?
-
@Scorpion82 As I said, if you feel that stock model could be improved, it’s always nice to talk about it with the creator, to allow everyone to benefit your finding
-
@Scorpion82 As far as i remember the model comes with covert lights

That’s good to know. I’ll test it soon and report back.
-
@Scorpion82 When I tested this with the Hornet, and I did set up the HOTAS and the lights worked. I didn’t even have to change the acdata.

Good day, All.
Here’s an update on Mafia Stuff in 4.36:We haven’t found anything (skins, acdatas, etc) that doesn’t work in 4.36. There a couple of things, like putting the covert ext. lights in, that have been documented here. Brother Eddie has been working on a Harrier model, and hopefully we can get back to the Hornet flight dynamics soon. Brother Musurca and Frederf have created a functional stock Tornado cockpit. Also, with the permission of our BMS Devs, I’m about 80% through a project to put an Other Jet “spin” on some of the KTO stock TE’s and Training missions, and will be putting that the Mafia Files. The Files, including the Gitlab version, will go through “evolutionary” change to consolidate 4.35-36. But, the good news is that the procedures listed in the Fighters’ Manual, and the Files themselves, are good to go in 4.36 -

@drtbkj Is it me or has the F-18C FM been changed in 4.36? Asking you since you’re probably the most knowledgeable about it.
Did some dogfights with it and it seems to almost stall/give warning for a stall/the TO/LDG warning light quite more easily compared to 4.35 with the Acdata files from your gitlab.
Should I add the respective Mafia files to 4.36 too or is it just my impression?
Edit: Oops, didn’t notice your latest post as I had the topic open for quite some time without reloading.
Hi, unkindled. Sorry it took awhile to reply. It’s been a fun but busy time… First, the ctd I mentioned in my earlier reply was not acdata related. I just did a Dogfight , with the same dats as are in the 1799 Folder in the Mediafire Mafia Files. We’re going to confirm that the Gitlab has the same files. Meanwhile, I was not able to reproduce your problem. I was purposely taking it below 200 knots. If you’d like to send me an ACMI I’ll be happy to check it out.
We know the Hornet flight model is not 100% accurate, we’re working on it. Meanwhile try to stay near to your corner velocity (I use 400 knots as a guide) -
Good Day, All
I did some Spring Cleaning in the Mefiafile Mafia Files. First, you had to click twice to get to the Files-fixed. I renamed the 4.35 stuff to inc. 4.36. I renamed the 1799 and 1958 folders to get the membership used to the Install Pack concept. Finally, I set up a Campaign, TE, and TRN folder. There are now some KTO TE’s and Training Missions with a more Hornet and/or Other Jet 'spin". The files are renamed just enough so they won’t overwrite the stock ones.
Finally, Gadfly and Frederf have done some great work with the Tornado, as seen in another thread. These are now in the Files as well-https://www.mediafire.com/folder/sqsfffoyiy9tm/Tornado+4.36+v1.1
The Gitlab version of the Files should be updated shortly. -
Good Day, All. We are very proud to release the OFMKTO Theater. We of the BMS Other Fighters Mafia continue to work with the Other Jets(other then the Viper) and various Theater Devs. However, we have found it problematic to keep everything straight when dealing with multiple theaters. Plus, as more Other Jets get worked on , we want to be able to present that to the BMS Membership in a timely matter.
So, we have created the OFMKTO Theater, with gratitude to the BMS Devs for all they give to the BMS Family.
This Theater will come as a one-step Installer. Note: some anti-malware apps may have an issue with the Installer, but the program is clean.
The OFMKTO will be used as a testbed for all new Other Jet development, and new versions will be presented as needed. So, if your jet-of-choice needs help, let us know and future version(s) can address it. You are also invited to visit the OFM-KTO channel on our Discord. Also, the Theater Devs can use the OFMKTO jets for their Theaters as they desire.
OFMKTO v1.1 contains- current Hornet development
-current Harrier development
-current F-35 development
-current Tornado development
-current Eurofighter(Typhoon) development
-The Eurofighter has the 4.36 models
-TE’s and training missions with F-18 and others
-Instant Action with F-18C instead of the Viper
There are links in the Korea Theater section, as well as the first post of this thread.
A note about TE’s and TRN’s. If you look in the Mafia Files>BMS 4.36 Campaigns>Korea campaigns you’ll find the various files, as before. The individual files are for KTO, NOT OFMKTO. All these TE’s and TRN’s are already in OFM, some with further refinements
Many thanks to the Contributers!

Here are a couple of quick updates…
- I tested OFMKTO installation by downloading it off the Mediafire link. That worked perfectly. However, as mentioned some anti-malwares don’t like our Installer, and my Windows Defender freaked. However, when I turned WD off, it went right through. There are no Trojans in there! We are ,however, going to look at other Installer options for future versions.
- In order to speed up testing, we used the Combat Autopilot for AAR. For anyone who may want that, the procedure is simple.
a) paste the following to your BMS-User.cfg
set g_bActivateDebugStuff 1
set g_bEnableCombatAP 1
b) Paste the following to your keyfile. If you like the Alternate Launcher it’s BMS-AUTO
SimRightAPSwitch 319 0 0x1E 0 0 0 1 “MISC: PITCH Switch - Cycle (also Combat AP)”.
HOTAS set up is a personal matter .of course, but I mapped mine to my Warthog’s “Auto-Pilot Engage/Disengage” button as a shifted function

Good Day, All. Our OFMKTO ver 1.2 is out. See-https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/22814/ofmkto
We hope it didn’t inconvenience anyone, being so close to 1.1. However, we learned a lot from making 1.1 , and a lot of momentum was developed. For your convenience, we made it a point to test exactly how to update, by doing the process as you will.
To quote the Readme:" Installation Notes: 1) It is recommended you turn off your anti-malware program(especially Windows Defender) while installing. Some programs have issues with the Installer. There are no issues with the Installer or the included version. “(Side note: we will continue to look into other Installer options)
" 2) All versions will come as one-step Installers. If possible, we will provide Update Installers that do not require uninstalling the old version. However , should FULL INSTALL be necessary, the old version must be uninstalled. It is recommended you copy any active campaign files from 4.36>data>Add-On OFMKTO> campaign and paste to the same location in the new installation, replacing what is there.”Speaking of the Readme, we received a request for the F-22 mods just as we were about to release. We were able to get them into Ver 1.2, but the details did not make it into the uploaded Readme

Once again well done, dear Fra’ Joe (and all the crew).
And please don’t forget that, I’d particualrly like to contribute about the Tornado - would you mind to contact me by PM, what do you think?
With best compliments and regards.
-
@Jackal Hi. All through the recent development and testing of the Tornado( and again thanks to musurca and falcas) I was thinking to myself “Gianni is gonna love this”. As far as I’m concerned, you are one of us. Pm’s are unnecessary. Anytime you ,or anyone else for that matter, wants to contribute, come join the party. The simplest and most effective way to do that these days seems to be on our Discord.
All,
Perhaps a word about OFMKTO is in order. I know it will not be the Theater for everybody. I can think of at least one person who won’t try it because “it isn’t realistic”. Even putting HTS on a Hornet, which we do, is not “realistic”. And, he would be right. The US Navy never did that. But, the point is, they could have. Take IRST21 https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/31850/navy-f-a-18-super-hornet-takes-flight-with-new-infrared-search-and-track-pod. That could be on the BMS F-18,F-15,etc. And, if we pursue that (we are ) it will probably show up on the F-18C first. The reason for that is that the Legacy FM flight model is more developed then the Rhino’s, at the moment. Take the F-22 we,ve been testing. The FM may not be totally polished, but the jet sure is fun to fly.
So, what I’m saying is that there will be an element or 2 of “What-if” but we’ll try to keep it as real as possible -
Good Day, All. I haven’t had an update for awhile, so here goes…
Right now there is a lot of 4.36 campaign development happening. Last weekend , and current has been VietNam. It has some surprises for you , including a new campaign we hope you like.
Over on our Discord the “jet’s of the week” are the EF-18M and the Eurofighter.
We now have a more developed KA-6D tanker
Finally, work is ongoing on the “Fifth Gen Pit”. -
The update for today…OFMKTO ver 1.3. is out
https://www.mediafire.com/file/if103rq136o0jw8/OFMKTO_1.3.zip/file . The details and Changelog are over in the Theater Section.
There is a bit of back story to 1.3. After 1.2 came out , and some momentum arose, we really started looking around at a lot of the BMS Other Jets. Bug fixes and enhancements. I don’t think we planned 1.3 to develop this soon, it just kind of evolved.
The biggest news for Yours Truly was the refinement of the KA-6D and the development of the F-18E with Buddy Stores. The BMS Navy now has it’s own tankers. The “Tanker Rhino” is somewhat a WIP visually(drogue attachment), but it works just fine.
I am very grateful to CCC for his help, and as always Brother Eddie and the Mafia kicked butt on this!.
Also, 1.3 may have the Installer warning we’ve seen before. But, I again we downloaded and installed it exactly as you will with no issues. Downloading it is no problem. It’s extracting it that freaks some anti-malwares. For those with issues with Windows Defender( like me )we did figure out a way to turn WD off easily The Win10 path is -Settings>Update and Security>Windows Security>Virus and Threat Protection>Manage Settings>Real-time Protection. Turn that little switch icon off, then extract and install. WD turns itself back on. -
Probably this has been discussed before but thread search isn’t as easy as it used to be. I was randomly thinking today about F-16 avonics issue. Not fully up on what’s going on with other fighters because I don’t really fly them in BMS.
But would it be worth it do a MFDE style program that takes in the shared memory data and outputs the different symbology? It’s still a wrapper over F-16 structure but may allow for a few more tricks and at least eye candy.
-
You are talking about different symbology, rather than different colors only?
