Water tiles elevation

@LorikEolmin Hi, first of all happy new year! And thank you development team for your awesome work and new year gift by releasing BMS 4.37. Really huge progress done.
Lorik, thanks, i like your videos mainly with coop with UnleashedCode guy btw. I think i learned a lot from that. As you are really experienced falconer, my question is this (or to whoever else):
The talk is about stock Korea theater. I set up working terrain editor with 4.37 right now. When i flew around the theater after this release now and since i can’t take solution replace water with sand (and even if i took this serious, this sand replacement would not be so easy how it could seem), i decided to make some personal elevation corrections of coasts and around some lakes and rivers. This was always major game spoiler for me. I finally kicked my ass and checking and correcting all the map around when i have some free time. Now it’s checked and “finished” cca 30-40% map (south coasts, some areas in the middle of peninsula, some islands) and it really gives much better feel in game. This job is for longer term and can’t be done instantly, when gradually finding the miselevations then i do fix. I realized the very north of map are not much used in standart campaigns so this area and chinese mountains will be gradually checked later.
My question is if this job has some sense even for others or for development team by sharing for example L2 file or O2 file or whatever else or if it’s good for my personal tuning only. Thanks. -

Thanks.Hi, thank you for the suggestion, but if you saw the 4.37 trailer with the end scene mentioning New Terrain engine coming in the future. Then it should come with the next major BMS update. At this time there is no sense in trying to solve problems with the existing terrain, as the new will be a totally different thing.

@I-Hawk Ok ok, understand. When it has to be approximately? This year or next year, how you do you see that?
-
1-2 weeks
-
@haukka81 3-4 falcon weeks? hahah, no i’m just kidding, my question was serious)
-
New terrain engine looks impressive, if it’s true (1-2 weeks) then yes, no such job has any sense.
Until that time if anybody else noticed and is annoyed by this same as me and has an idea how to share it or you would want to try out this fix and compare it with default, write me PM.
The major terrain water tiles miselevations for flights in standard korea campaigns are actually fixed for me. Ground units are familiarized without problems. -
Happy new year Fox. I have never used Terrain Editor.
-
@FoxBMS definitely not 1-2 weeks for real. Look at the trailer though, full F-15C and Terrain are up next but at least the later will probably be 4.38. if you look at the BMS team’s release tempo, it has increased so the old 3-4 Falcon weeks is faster, but not really that fast. My guess is 9 months, anybody want to start a pool?
Problem is with what you are talking about it would take hand tiling over months of work and at the end would only be used for about as many months as it took you to do it.

Exact schedule depends on a lot of things and can (hopefully not) be delayed, but in general we aim more or less to the pace of the last releases.

@Snake122 Yea, you’re right, i see that similar, i could do this job many years back instead of writing this or maybe somebody else did that already but i did not see any sharing of this. Not months, i think i could do that in weeks but anyway i agree and i will not bother with checking all the map and just will keep fixed most high traffic assigned areas.
