Is not in the manual.
The page that you refer (i read it yesterday) is saying about FWD and AFT antenna. My doubt is, if the FWD antenna is not transmiting, then the 12 o’clock position it’s going to be “unjammed”. (the guys already solved the question)

@VDK Can probably test it easy enough in the HARM training TE.
But not sure I would ever want to rely on that… for situations where I’m flying directly toward someone who is trying to shoot at me. I’ll go ahead and flick the switch to ‘2’.

thanks for the thread. was wondering about this, myself. IMO the manual could stand to go into more detail. XMIT 1 is stated that it turns off the forward antenna. however, i think it should explain in more detail the ramifications of this. using previous knowledge, i inferred the jamming is weak/nonexistent(?) in the forward arc. i think this information needs to be plainly stated. it would help to also quantify jamming strength between XMIT 1 and 2.

@airtex2019 yes my friend! But remember that the jammer will only degrade your radar/TFR if you are jamming a specific band. If you are jamming a diferent band than your radar/TFR, they will continue to operate. (At least, that is what manual say…)

About the transmition power, i think it’s the same in XMIT 1 and 2, is only the antenna (and the arc) that is affected (as ours friends say above)Greetings from Brazil! Happy new year to you all!

I flew toward SA2 with only program 1 selected & XMIT 2 and Jamer enabled but SA-2 still shot me as I flew head on toward it (just for test). Was it my elevation? (20,000ft)

@Alfred for sure it was program 3. Or, to be more precise, its absence. Fan Song uses G band.

@Alfred absolutely. You can see which programs are associated with specific bands in the threat guide.

I thought I was reading this right ( I thought F stands for Fan Song)
I’ll try again tonight -
works better with program 3 but still SA-2 can shoot me down but at a closer range. First missile fired went flyby and I could see it very closely but second missile hit the jet. The jammer just delays Fan Song’s success.

Typically the jammer becomes less effective the closer you get with any radar threat. Too close and it wont help at all.
The BMS threat guide / Vault shows Burn Through ranges that give some idea.

what I am doing now is to put on XMIT 2 and press relevant program (3 for fan song) but do not give consent, so amber S on entering threat circle. That way I can use the HAD. Once SA2 appear on HTS page I shoot it and then give consent.
