Aim120

Some people here are very young, some people here are very old. Some of us are FNG, some are OG. Some of us have deep but narrow knowledge of a few things. Some of us have broad but shallow knowledge of many things.
There should be no shame in holding a misconception. We have all held a misconception about something, somewhere, at some time. Even in this thread, Molni expressed a misconception about how the de-agg bubble works in BMS. None of us knows everything about everything.
Anyway, the important point here is that the market manager of Raytheon has been sacked… the new head of marketing is Hubert3000, who had the clever idea to measure missile range when fired from low earth orbit.

i think we could put a SR71 flyin mach 3+ at 50 kft and hit a 100NM range with a AIM120C ?
i do believe raython real issue is to compete with Meteor which is a statoreactor engine…
I think the only way would be to control the Solid proppelant in some way to make it burn much longer , but that would mean you would have to accept to not reach MACH 4.0 but maybe only MACH 1.5 from the start. Maybe this is what they managed to do ? according to initial Contact distance manage the way the powder is burnt and exchanging Speed vs distance ?
So for instance
contact at 50 NM => normal burn
contact over 50NM => burn longer but accept less velocity ?would that be possible to control ? i’m not sure , that would probably mean a liquid propellant ?

@Aragorn ok I’ll be honest… I’m not really a fng. I’ve been flying for 15+years but I only really started to take it seriously when f4af came out. I tried to do this foreal. I got my 4y degree in engineering got my PPL applied to a gaurd base that flies vipers but I’m not medically qualified bc I have advanced astigmatisim and my right eye is 3 diopters and the usaf doesn’t give anyone exemptions for 3 or higher to fly fighters so that really shit in my cereal. I was told I could get a waiver to fly bombers or cargo jets but I didn’t want to fly those it was fighters or nothing for me. I only told him I was a fng so he’d he more likely to agree to BVR with me thinking id be easy prey, I’m being honest now bc he didnt take the bait. I know I was very vague when I just said “range” and didn’t specify any details at all I should’ve been more specific yes but I couldn’t stand his attitude which is why I kept going. Also incase it wasn’t clear as day by now when I said “there’s just range none of that matters” I was just being a wise ass lol

there is always a solution. adapt and survive

Hi all,
I can understand that we ask questions about all BMS features, but we can also trust the replies we have from BMs team.
We have the luck to have a team of developers that explain us the change they made and investigate to be the more realistic possible based on their search and in he limit of Falcon 4.
There is so many marketing false claims in the armament industry, or based on such ideal and optimal situations… that never exist in reality.
There is a difference with some bugs that appear in a software as we seen with the last years AIM120 updates (and here we can all participate) and the general philosophy of what programmers intend to represent.
For my part, I love the new aim120 representation and the change they bring to my BVR combat skills.

Hee hee…!! Pure evil.
Gotta’ respect that…
.
@SpbGoro - DUDE…!? That is the old “T-Rexbian” skin I did when I made the (ramp-startable!) AN-2 cockpit.You flew that…!? COOL.
Topolo did the flight-model.
Fred animated the prop, and Qawa did the 3D 'Pit.My favourite plane EVER in Falcon, for and by my favourite people.
Thanks for posting that up for me to see again, dude.

The 120C7 and other edits in Korea Training Theater were pretty nice, seemed reasonable how the 120C7 was modeled.

The only way to confirm that is to shrred the sim data files into the Mav-JP bullshit detector

@Mav-jp : mav, your opinion is legit. One of my relatives work on the boramae co-op, and said the same one about Fox3 (almost all he said) range in public media is rubbish. I give him a quick check when he’s here last month to try 4.37. He said, cut it more, at the end you’ll be a suspect for have a leaked classified doc. It just mean that 4.37 is modelled through the logic condition, yet questioning by the player for the shocking slap between “public release number” vs “ideal logical reality”.
He add that the public release number about range is correct, if shoot at a floating / stationary object ath the sky. Problem is, what the jet shoot at is a fighter jet, that have human inside with a strong will a live. The will of live in human put a “variabel of change in a manner of manouver, drag, and pump” that interpret verywell, verygood in BMS.
Range may improved in Real by the reduction of electronic component size, thus made room for more fuel. But, it is not so significant. The key of improvement more likely “Jammed resistance”. Imagine this, yes the jet is available to get solid lock and guide the AIM120 before active. What if, the guidance link jammed? You get the lock, released, but unable to guide your AIM120 into activated phase, hence turn the missile into “cheap shot”. That’s what an AIM120D is supposed to excel above the predecessor, jammer resistance.
Live long and prosper Mav.

@Ironman3 - 4.35 was the best model, IMO…
