Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
-
@danaos75 blind old man needs help…
thanks… -
So I tried the AL with the .37 download and loved how easy it was to setup the HOTAS and set the DX shift. Once I got into BMS though realised it kept swapping my POV hats between my throttle and stick, so I gave up and went back to the stock launcher.
Today I investigated it further and tried swapping the POV numbers in the user cfg I imported from .36……… BINGO!!! It now keeps my throttle POV hat on the throttle and the stick POV hat on the stick.
The AL is a huge bonus, easy to use and I wish I’d looked at it prior to this new release. Great addition to the standard install!

Ok, after giving a try to the “soon to be the official one” but still “alternative” launcher today, I’ve to say that I really appreciate the controller setup, very friendly and easy to interact with. Thanks a lot. I also appreciate the philosophy of writing/back-up under the hood Falcon BMS.cfg according to the user selection.
I’ve a question btw, is there a way to set a module as default to turn on? Like, I know that with my configuration I’ll always fly with the RTTClient on, is there a way to launch it always (beside clicking on it every time before flight)?
Thanks

@antares190 I have RTTClient in my windows startup folder so it comes up every boot since it’s on a monitor I mostly use only for that. But this could be obtrusive if it is often used monitor.

@Snake122 thanks for the answer, ai may very well rely on pscockpit launcher to launch open track and RTT, alongside with the alternative launcher. I was wondering whether the alternative launcher does some magic with the ini files of the RTT as well. According to your answer, I’d say that it doesn’t.

@chihirobelmo
Firstlet me say thank you for that great tool. It’s a lot easier to handle hotas with 2 devices riht now.One question: Is it possible to have some kind of different profiles? I think that it would be interesting to have some buttons/switches configured different when flying another aircraft. It wouldn’t be a problem to restart BMS for that …

What do these settings adjust and what are they typically assigned to?
I just am converting to AL, I have TIR and set to FOV not Z axis.
While in the pit I can zoom in/out by moving forward/backward but outside the pit (orbit view) the view barely moves.
TIA -
@Badger you can assign analog axes to either FOV, external-view-distance, or both.
FOV is nice for smooth zooming (vs the 5-degree ticks of the mousewheel) if you have a spare axis on your hotas … but yeah I think using TrackIR for that is more common.
“Distance” is only for external camera angles. Think of it, as controlling the position of the camera… while FOV is like a telefoto zoom-lens.

TIAkind of what I thought.
I wonder what’s up with my external zoom via TIR, works with mouse wheel…Hmmmm
and yes, external mouse look is disabled. -
Hi
a proposal for improvement.
Have a visual of the keyboard with the command assignments as in the excel file in order to be able to visualize the free combinations for the new assignments.
Thank you again for the work and the follow-up provided. -
@Badger there are some cfg params which control some aspects of that, but I don’t remember all the semantics ottomh … consult technical-manual pdf
set g_bExternalTrackIR 0 set g_bExternalTrackIROrientation 0 set g_bInvertExternalTrackIR 0
