Falcon radio traffic...or lack thereof

As Snake mentioned, you can monitor U5, but it is a bit tricky trying to switch to U6 to talk. Since 4.34, the AWACS give zero love for your well being without asking very politely every so often for a bogey dope, even in MP, they won’t let you know about the 29s that just launched 20 miles from you seeking your destruction. Very frustrating. You have to build that into your SOP behind and near the FLOT.

If you want to hear more unseful noise, I suggest to randomly run a playlist of AWACS (edited/condensed) Chatters from YouTube (or any other recordings) in the background (as you know Windows is multitask).
No time for further explanations, some comms are still missing (and especially the Check In freq), but overall, the way Falcon4 was in the past was completely wrong.
There is no way to manage any combat mission with everyone chatting on the same radio and there is no way an AWACS WC (Weapon Controller) can deal with more than few flights at the same time.
An AWACS is only two to three ppl talking on the radio (mainly only two WC and sometime on FA).

Dee-Jay,
Thanks but I’m not sure anyone mentioned unuseful noise.
The point was additional mission related Comms, whilst not realistic, does add a lot to some players enjoyment (who play SP)
I’ve added canned radio comms such as you suggest to DCS many times - but just aint the same at all (although better than nothing granted)
Kind Regards,
Gary

If you would like to hear more radio chatter during boring enroute phases, how do you filter out unrelevant messages to you when you are in action? When I hear continious bullseye calls my head get full with numbers immediately. Better to hear some background music
-
@Jack-Curzon Sounds like you need to get into some multi-player to find out the hard way when it comes to extraneous radio traffic, thankfully we can turn off UI Radio chatter. Nothing worse than being interrupted by AI chatter when you’re in the middle of a flight giving commands to your Wingman. You’ll thank the Devs for that checkbox, believe me. I get the immersion argument for single player it could become a bit boring with no-one to listen to. There is an option to play music or sound files while in the cockpit using winamp.
set g_bPilotEntertainment 1 // Enables the user to control WinAmp
Imagine you’re Maverick taking off from the Enterprise while “Highway to the Danger Zone” is assaulting your ear drums!

@Gary As long as you don’t know the position and task of all other players, it will be useless noise.
I know what you like to have and I also know that it is hard to understand what I am saying … Any threat calls given in BRAA to any other player will be totally pointless if you don’t know the exact position and heading of the friendly … each call will have to use the full callsign, etc… the freq will be permanenttly overcrowded/saturated, and when you will send a declare, you may have to wait several dozens of seconds or even minutes before having a reply …
Anything beyond 50Nm and/or outside your area of responsibility is pointless and counterproductive to the SA. Not realistic, nor useful.
Better play YT AWACS chatters, ambience effet will be better, believe me.Regards

I have raised this issue previously around the time it changed, 4.35?
I think everyone can appreciate the realism argument but why not have a channel that gives us the legacy open channel for those of us flying SP? Very little happening on channel 5 for me so it doesnt scratch the itch.
Once the air war dies off its too much of a snoozefest to bomb truck back and forth in silence so i just roll a new campaign.
Yes i understand joining a MP squadron sorts this issue completely but not everyone can - kids/life

Because it is certainly easier and requires less code, less maintenance, less debug, less complexity … to run VLC or MP3 recording on the background previously recorded under UI or a YT video.
However, again … CH5 (Check In) would deserve enhancement and be able to hear ALL (world) flights Checking In and maybe ask for broadcast advisory.

@Kavelenko Yep, aim to get online at some point soon…time…family…planning…sigh. I completely appreciate AI chatter in a MP mission would be highly distracting.
I flew a couple hours ago and switched between U5 & 6. Was handy to hear occasional spontaneous bogey calls from AWACs, so for now that’ll do me.

Hi Gary,
I completely concur with you in regards to radio comms within BMS. To get a little more interaction with the other elements of a SP Package mission such as the the C Plan TE and others, for SA and interest purposes I do the following:-- Note the briefing page in regards to frequencies for eg:-
a. Strike Package is V15
b. Escorts ,SEAD and BDA are V16, V17, V18 and V19
So if you want to listen in to another Flight in your package you could enter their preset in Standby to flick quickly between your flight and theirs.
To further enhance your SA you could also add the other flights of your Package into your interface after start-up. Go to the ICP - LIST - ENTER - SEQ - Dobber down to the next vacant spot and enter the relevant numbers on the ICP pad, for the other flights in turn, hitting enter after each entry.
For eg if you are the Strike Package on V15 you will see that 11 - 12 - 13 -14 are already filled in from your DTC.
V16 will be 21 to 4,
V17 will be 31 to 4,
V18 will be 41 to 4,
V19 will be 51 to 52 (2 Ship)
You obviously don’t have enough room on the DED page for all this info, so just use the 4 spare slots for the flight leads ie 21 -31-41-51. On smaller package missions I might put element leads in as well for eg 23.Once your FCR is up,
Hit OSB 6 and cycle to CONT.
Hit TQS: Comms Switch left to highlight.Graphic interface will be enabled, displaying the dispositions of your entire package on your FCR and HSD Once you have changed to U6 (AWACS) enroute.
Sorry for the lengthy reply but hope its useful (Apologies if you already knew all this).
Regards
