BMS Key File Help

Wow!! Brilliant!!! Just what I was looking for. Thanks!!!

thanks Kolbe – good job
right on time

I would like to say thanks to Kolbe for this idea!
I have now made a Helios profile which will hopefully allow me to interact with all the switches in the cockpit using the touchscreen instead of reaching for the mouse, and having to map all those switches and knobs means I will have to add more callbacks to my .key file. Having an organized .key file as Kolbe has shown makes it easy to find things in the .key file.
I am using Morphine’s profile for my TM Warthog and am therefore not “starting from scratch.” Can anyone tell me what’s the best way to go about re-organizing my current .key file into one that looks like Kolbe’s?? Do I have to go line-by-line searching for each callback, then copy-pasting from my .key file to the new (Kolbe-inspired) .key file?

can’t you copy it all in to excel, add a corresponding letter for each instrumentpanel in the next column, use the sort function to get all the functions sorted by panel and go from there? It’s a bit of work, but accurate and complete…
-
Hi Fluke,
I am not sure if your post is adressed to me or to -ice.
I am just working on a new version of my key files. An excel file which will make it easy to assign DX functions to different Hotas systems and to change keyfile settings (with automatic keyboard layout generation) will be included.
3-4 weeks. As always… -

I’ve prepared something similar, stay tuned soon.

Don’t know if there is a DX based key file floating around here. Just check Saitek section.
But if you know the DX button numbers of your X-65 it would be rather easy to build the key file code lines from scratch. -

DL.link just sends me to “Go Daddy.com”.

This post is deleted! -
Hi,
thanks for the heads up. Damn file hoster. I wish to have a more durable solution for hosting my files…Anyways, even if it doesn’t makes sense I just uploaded the old ver 1.4 files. The link works now.
My work on completely overhauled key files and documents is almost finished. So expect a new version in the coming days. -
Hi,
strange but is cannot download ti neither,
it ask me to download Ilivid but nothing starts after,
waitning your news,
thanx -
Hi,
the DL-link works. You have to click on the correct image. I just updated my first post to clarify that.
The ad-banners can be rather annoying if you don’t use tools like Adblock Plus or similiar browser addons -
yes it does,
thank you Buddy -

Hi,
in my post I was referring to fireblade (he was clicking on the wrong DL image).
Go Daddy com is not correct of course. Think this site was shown because the file hoster I’ve choosen was suspended. Now everything is fine. Just check post #1 for the new link.

3-4 weeks. As always…Hi Kolbe
I have got your latest keyfile generator from the last BMS update 4 but I do not understand how to use it!
How do I load an existing keyfile into the generator so I can make edits?
Then how do I convert it bak to a .key file to use it?BTW superb job on the new keyfile and your instructions, its the most important improvement to Falcon since BMS4
-
Hmmm is this why the recent bms versions killed my 3d cockpit panning, steer point key presses, radar cursors, etc?
Guess I need to unlearn 10 years of muscle memory

Hi,
a new version of my Excel based keyfile generator is still under development. With the version provided with U4 you cannot import or export files. This will be possible with my next version of the generator. Just be patient. I’m sure to release an updated file within the next two weeks. Import / Export options are working quite well and I also implemented some other features which you might find useful.

Don’t we learn all the time
It is highly recommended to get familiar with the new callbacks and to forget about the outdated ones. What you find in my key files / generator are the ones which are safe to use until the input system and the ui will be revised, which could take quite a long time.
