TrackIR issue

Hmm. That does sound a bit strange. Drivers? Or… do you wear glasses? If the room is dark and your glasses are reflecting bright light off your monitor, things can get weird. Where do you have the track IR mounted?
As @skippermike says, try opening the tracking page on the TrackIR app next time this happens and see if you can see ANYTHING other than the three dots on your tracking screen.

@Icer
This was 100% my problem!! Light from outside coming through the half closed blinds hitting the back wall. Camera was picking this up and causing stuttering and freezing. -
I know a similar problem with Track IR. Mostly it appears when I leave the computer for a pause, but sometimes it happens while using it. It is not Falcon related. The only way is to restart the TIR software (and so you have to restart BMS, too).
It’s a strange stuttering, not beeing able to see all the way you should.
But only, if you excluded a possible daylight or reflection problem.Try this: Alt+Tab out of the sim when it happens. Is the TIR window also stuttering? Does restarting it (and maybe pulling USB out and back in) solve the problem in the TIR window?
If not, also try to lay the cables a different way, I have such a problem, too.
So there are 3 possible issues:
-
Daylight
-
TIR software “hickups” (also watch the status lights on the camera)
-
Cable problems

Years gone have needed blackout curtains to get rid of all the light.
Also in the Camera tab in the software check the “Light Filter threshold” and “IR Brightness” sliders.

Thanks for the ideas, but lighting is not an issue in this case. Dimly lit room and no lights behind me. And as i said it works fine, great even 95% of the time. And then it gets restrictive allowing only partial tracking of my head movements.
I’ll try the reset option next time it happens msybd thst eill redolve it.
In that case, I’d suggest that you have the TrackIR open with the Camera view visible, and move your head around while keeping eyes on what the Camera sees… I have had this issue before where the space I moved my head moved one of the TrackClip Pro LED’s out of view of the camera, so it only had 2 to focus on. Other times, turning my head to the left, the brim of my hat would obscure the upper LED from being visible to the camera. I keep the sensor on the top left margin of my monitor (not centered) for this reason, and the mast of my TrackClip Pro extended so all three LED’s are as far from my head as possible.
These three green pips should be visible no matter where you move your head in your virtual cockpit, and if one is blocked, things can go wonky until it can be seen again:
Not sure if you are using the TrackClip Pro or not, but regardless, checking that the camera can see what it tracks through your entire range of motion that you’d use in BMS is likely going to reveal your issue (if it’s not light sources behind or reflections from glasses being picked up by the camera). If you wear glasses, open a regular Windows Notepad (or anything with a white background) fullscreen and see if moving your head around causes errant movements which may indicate reflections from glasses in bright scenes causing tracking issues.

Heya. Can you , pretty please, give (upload) this profile of yours for my testing.
Yes I can see YAW , but I want to see other axis, X/Y/Roll.You managed to get it smooth @10 ,… I can’t get it stable if not 40, small jitters.
But, I’ve been using some copy of default:
Maan, opentrack is much easier to configure an axis than TIR - or maybe just me
Thanks.

I guess it depends on what you’re used to. I’ve no issues with TIR, but was totally confused the moment I tried OpenTrack.
-
@white_fang Well, my settings and curves are quite specific to my setup. I have a 24 inch 1080p monitor around 20 inches from my face, the sensor sits at the top margin, midway between center and the left corner, and I wear a hat with my TrackClip Pro sensor mast at full extension from my head (yet still vertically oriented, the three LEDs top to bottom).
The curves (for FalconBMS at least) are such that when my nose is physically pointed to the left (or right/top/bottom) margin of the monitor, the bezel itself, the turn in that direction is maximum (up, down, left, right). All this as well as a slower motion towards the center, more similar to 1:1, and where some profiles I have used a bit of a deadzone as I found my neck getting stiff from having to remain excessively still to avoid minor distracting movements in the sim cockpit.
Here’s a backup of my entire settings folder and all profiles, too - I would strongly advise that you backup your own files somewhere safe before playing around with my own, as again, my excellent experience may be due to the time I spent tailoring these profiles to my physical setup and personal preferences for movement translation.
This “TrackIR 5” folder goes under the NaturalPoint folder in the AppData Roaming folder at the following path:
%APPDATA%\NaturalPoint

Yes I can see YAW , but I want to see other axis, X/Y/Roll.I’m no expert, but how about if you hit the button next to where it says Axis “Yaw” and select Pitch or Roll (or X\Y\Z)?
-
@Icer They were asking to see my settings, having shared a picture of my yaw axis but none of the others. Pressing that button on their TrackIR program would only show their own axis settings.

Ahhh, sorry!
