WIP - Panama Theater Beta 2.0A for BMS-4
-
uh, tells me it sees the files as part of a larger split file and …
blocks downloading
any mirrors up yet? -
Sent mail to Cuddles, I’ll host him again if he wants.
-
Hanging there people.
“Chuckles”, “Arty” and me are working to host the files into other places.
So tomorrow probably you will have an alternate solution ;).
Nikos. -
Stanislaw, email sent.
I have a set of Skydrive mirror download links added to the first post.
-
Congrats on the release guys and thanks!
-
OMG! How big is this thing! Downloading for mirror purposes and it’s like 100KB/s…
-
It is really huge. Packed up using WinRAR’s max compression, Panama weighs in at 700 MB. Having dozens of people downloading at once on teh first night, you can see how I quickly used up my Mediafire bandwith allotment.

Hi guys.
Well you can download Panama theater v2.0A Beta from here also:Part 1 (200 MB):

https://www.box.com/s/u9atmy9y4wzliskauzyfPart 4 (70.5 MB):
https://www.box.com/s/lk0z3bpugmt6qj68yqeiInstallation instructions:
–---------------------Extract all RAR files into a folder named “Add-On Panama” (without the quotes). Cut and paste this folder (Add-On Panama) with all the subfolders and files into you main BMS install folder C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data. If done correctly, the file installation will look like this: …\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Panama.
Using notepad, open the “theater.lst” file in the following folder …\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\theaterdefinition. After the last entry add these:
Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama - Redux.tdf
Add-On Panama\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Panama.tdfSave and exit. Open BMS and enter the theater selection screen. In the theater selection screen you will see two Panama theaters:
Panama 2011 - The orginal Panama campaigns produced by Mac and converted to BMS by Toonces.
Panama Redux - Chuckles compilation of Toonces Heavy Metal campaign along with two modified orginals. In all three campaigns, naval aircraft have been relocated to the USS Truman, sailing Northwest of Canal zone in Panamanian waters.
Select desired theater version and restart BMS.
Have a nice time in this new Panama theater.
With my regards,

Guys,
I have a late version of Panama for AF which includes some better terrain, etc., little stuff like that, but best it includes a te_new.tac file which works 1000 percent better than any other version I’m aware of. Would you be up for trying to integrate the two versions into one for BMS? I’d dearly love to see proper working winnable campaigns again for Panama, and as far as I am aware, a properly linked te_new.tac in which all the movement values between objectives are realistic would help immensely.
This does beg another question though - is it easy enough to take the campaign .cam files as they stand today and port the units across into a new te_new.tac file?
Cheers

Malc??? There shouldn’t be any units in a te_new.tac.

Yes, perhaps my wording isn’t clear. In the good old days, my te_new.tac was the base for building new .cam files. I would take a “unit-free” te_new.tac file, add loads of units to it, save it as save0.cam (or whatever).
What I don’t want is to force people to start from scratch with the units, so can they be exported from the current campaign files?

Yes you can do that.
Just go to the Units tab in your Save0/1/2, whatever, Select Units>Export Units which will export them out to a Excel .csv.
Open a virgin te_new.tac, go to the Units tab and do a Units>Import Units from the Units.csv into it.
From the Map View tab, first do a Units>Rebuild Squadrons, then Do a File>Save As and make sure you enter the entire syntax = Save0.cam…(or Save1.cam/Save2.cam)

Great job! Many thanks to all responsible for this release!

If I recall correctly, ccc was able to get an old version of Panama to win a ground war in Freefalcon 4. He had to manually move some ground units, but it worked.
I could never get it to work like that in FF5, and in BMS I can’t even get the jets to spawn correctly on the airbases.
My point is that Panama used to work, and I think it could be made to work in BMS, but I don’t know how to do it.

RAM22IIRC only objectives can be exported into csv. Units are exported into some binarized/coded file. I asked Monster for some txt or csv util
regarding units in the past. Now I am trying the same with Falcas. But there is not such an option for now…. -

As Donkey said to Shrek, “Where’s the will there’s a way.”
All we gotta do now is find that way…
