Project Licenses Plates

Ok,
now what we need is the ability, just before ramp-starting 4 jets (in the munitions screen maybe;) to assign each tail serial to specific human pilot through a UI control…
/Me runs…

+1… Could think of a lot of uses. Hoping he didn’t just use different flights (skins) to do it.

This is what I figured and not tested so far:
Spot the tail texture.
Go to LE and select the area that this texture takes place and only this…
Create duplicate nodes…4 in total as a whole set. Like this: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/entry.php?140-Creating-license-plates-Part-1
Create the new textures.
Set the switches… according to this: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/content.php?152-Licenses-Plates-Please
u r done…Doing so in LE… needs nerves of steel… and surgical precision… Fave fun…
If I’m wrong please correct me…

Disappointing good news.
To difficult for a noob like me. But thanks for the explenation Arty. -
MIG29 done:
It’s not difficult, just basic knowledge of 3DS and patience.
Tomorrow I write, how to do it in LODEditor.

Blu3wolf,
In my last post is new, complete tutorial. Now I must find serious drags…
Man R U crazy???
all this just to put 4 stupid numbers to show up?
OK…
It’s easier to train my mind and see the numbers different then this.
Edit at step 7 I lost u. why not just create a simple polygon on 3ds how big u want the numbers to show and start from there… no need to export from LE and import to 3ds I believe… u cut the polygon down to the square where it’s only the number? Doesn’t this mean when u import it it will make the vertical wing disappear?

Something from me:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?homxcbibykp0jecLink update (complete gui)
This is simple tutorial, written quickly. There are other ways to do it but I decided that for amateurs like me, it will be easiest to understand how it works.PS. There’s probably a lot of mistakes but … I’m tired
Thankyou very much.
Million thanks inbound… -

Thank you! Looking forward to reading the guide when I get home from work.

Eghi, this is really amazing! :bowd: understandable all the way

so, I guess this means I would need to send the DB to anyone that I wanted to have the same skin set?
so if we set up a squadron skin and some tail numbers for that squadron, everyone would need to get the same DB for it to work for everyone.
is there a way to get it to use more than 4 numbers? could it be set so that there is a large pool of “tail numbers” to draw from?
or is the only way to get that to work to use different skins with 4 tail numbers each?

In Falcon 4.0 FF and maybe in AF we were able add our name and call sign under the canopy and also add our own tailskins. For instance, I am in San Antonio and we have, out here at Lackland, The Lonestar Gunfighters. The tail had “SA” in the middle, the Texas flag across the top and “The Lonestar Gunfighters” on the bottom. The rest of the AC skin was the normal grey F-16. I would love to be able to do that again. I have a file somewhere that has a whole bunch of tailskins for different squadrons. I am not sure if it could help out in any way but if someone wants to check it out, I can send it. It feels so sweet flying a jet with your name and callsign on the side of it with your own squadron tailskin.

well, what I would like is to have unique tails, corresponding to the same jets that were in the 524th. means there is a bit of history there.
still have to start this myself… too much procrastinating on my part.

I can make that happen for you!
