Terrible FPS

use mfde by lightning and not build in? maybe it’s better? use a second pc with mfde to ease off the drop?
Thought i read that the BMS MFD extractor results in less of a hit (especially with AMD cards). I don’t have an extra computer to run the extraction independently unfortunately. I’ll give MDFE a try anyway just to see what it’s all about.

+1 - What Wolf said– why turn on ALL shaders by default in Update 5 when you know that’s among the biggest FPS killers?
Nobody does that on purpose, the update is replacing your config file, so getting everything back to default (all shaders on). again (like the other thread), if you want no shaders, simply turn them off, 10 seconds work.
Why fly without shaders, that escapes me, but anyway… I believe your 6870 isn’t weaker than my GTX-560TI, and in fact handles better the exported displays. With all shaders on, multi-smapling quality 2, 1920x1200, exported MFDs to a second screen, I get good FPS even in heavy camp missions, the worse it ever gets is ~22-23 and that is rare… if you have huge drops in heavy camp missions then maybe you need to upgrade CPU and system, but your V-Card isn’t the bottleneck.
BTW update 5 should have better FPS than before. I have a very touchy eye for FPS drops or improvements and I noticed real improvement with U5, I’d guess ~15-20%

I noticed that too, thank you for this. Did something in particular change to get more fps? I’m very interested to know.
Keep em coming!

Yea I would like to know also what params changed so to have this FPS improvement?

Your welcome, but I’m not the one to thank for this, this kind of improvements are usually kind of above my paygrade
It came out from some investigations and optimizations of some rendering parts of the code

So I would have liked to ask the OP if uninstalling and reinstalling worked…
ah well.

Here is my FPS, everything is turned on in Config Editor. It was recorded in and empty TE, res. is only 1280x1024.
http://www.sg.hu/listazas_msg.php3?id=1114537900&no=43689
Where FPS is 8 was misdisplayed somehow it was 20.
My configuration is in my signiture, rest of setting were these. CPU and VGA is on max. cpu clock settings.
VGA settings
Anti-Aliasing - x2 + edge detect
Anisotropic Filtering - app. controlled
Tesselation - AMD optimalized is flagged
Vsync - off
Catalyst AI - performance + enable surface optimization is flagged
Anti-Aliasing mode - qualityIngame settings
Quality sample 1
In advanced section, in the right column all options are selected, from the left only the anisotropic filtering is selected.
What can cause the low FPS…?? I use stil U4. Most of Hungarian players have same or weaker config but has double of my FPS in 1920x1080…
-
First go to U5 it’s superb fps wise…
Second the 8 fps must be instant drop cause of the screen capture… or something running in the background that kills the fps…
third run the TE that benchmarks your hardware and get results from there
U can find it in my hot list…
this TE can be used for reference so that we all can compare with something steady… -

I know, but I even 20 FPS in an empty is too low comparing with my HW.

check task manager….try to kill various updaters if present (google updater and similar shit…use msconfig -> startup app later to kill them permanently)
if u are laptop user, try to avoid various energy management savers…or force your main videocard ON as CUDA user (joking?) -
You have AA set in card config and in game, is that needed?
-
Molni your CPU m8 needs change above 3.0Ghz or overclock…
-
Yes, as I can remeber without it the texture z coorinate and gaps between textures are buggy. It was very hard to find a setting even just avoiding GFX bugs…
-

It is on max. overclock setting… I will plan buy a new CPU and screen but I fear that with new much stronger CPU and 1920x1080 will result the same low FPS…
-
Maybe, but u will gain…

you have a nvidia card? I have terrible fps too with a GTX670. I had better luck with older drivers, but gave up on bms now. Too much hassle for shit graphics/textures.
edit: in fairness have to say: after installing U5 bms now runs smooth for me. Since I also changes OS to win 8 64bit, I can’t be sure what fixed my horrible fps problem. I do know that some nvidia drivers do not play well with bms, from my experience every new driver gets worse for me with bms. Atm on 311.06 drivers and it runs butter smooth. I have all settings on max in game, with all the check boxes under advanced tab ticked (was set standard)
Hi how can i install this driver? and is it the same for the GTX 650? my current driver version is 331.82 and i sometimes get bad fps and i havent even played a campaign mission yet. I’d imagine in the campaign my fps will be unplayable with all the SAMs, armies….everything being played out, especially round the FLOT.
