good job…… !!!

yes…
The simulator at the moment is stuck in F-16 mode. So we will need to dress her up in a f-16 skirt. Only for a little while…
Actually the late model F-14B’s during OEF and OIF did have a HUD display. Here’s a link to a VF-32 cruise video (around 1:50, but there are a few shots which show the HUD):
IMO a model of the F-14B pit is even better than the D, because the HUD symbology I’ve seen in several cruise video’s of the late B’s look more like the F-16 symbology than the F-14D symbology does.

Actually the B-model Sparrow Hawk HUDs (the ones with the new combiner glass) used the exactly same symbology than the F14D HUD
@ Nizmo: why don´t you use the frontshield as the HUD display as in real life?..IMHO there´s no need to put in a fake, unrealistic combiner glass; the Sparrow Hawk HUD of the later (post-2002) B models came with a new ACMI panel, which is quite different from the A and B model panels in your 3D pit –your current 3D pit is not an accurate replication of an A model or late B model pit…

I understand what you are saying. In regards to realism, I have separated the model in 2 parts as with all the other models. 1 File stays realistic. The other goes the way of BMS.
I was planning on adding the OSB buttons to the realistic MFD’s in the 14 now. I know the 14 doesn’t have OSB’s… at least the B models. This of course to make this jet the same potentially lethal plane that all the others will fly.
Not having certain things would put this and other a/c’s at a disadvantage. One day when we have alternate radars, and more realisic AFM’s, etc. The “realistic” models can come back without all the fancy F-16 jewelery.
Is having the HUD displayed on the front glass really what you want me to do?

Sure, why not…HUD symbology displayed on the front glass is one of the most distinct features of the Tomact cockpit (except for late B models and the D model)
With regard to the OSB butons I absolutely agree with your plan – as long as we are stuck with the F16 MFDs there will always be the need for OSB buttons.
-
I think what they’re saying is establish whether your pit will be F-14A+ or F-14B(upgrade), or do both and tie them to specific models.

Point taken. I will keep for now, and see what some other people say. I personally would like to see them “original” but “MLU’D” as well. Having a HUD I think would just look better, and make me think my jet got an upgrade. After all we are in 2014 now, and she has long been out of service….
If I had an F14b sitting in my garage oh hangar, I would have a HUD

Ok, could be. The symbology looked different in the cruise video’s, but I guess it isn’t then.
@Nizmo: why not go for a late model B? That one has a hud, so you don’t have to delete it then. The symbology on the A and old B front shield doesn’t look anything like the F-16 hud symbology, whereas the late B’s and D’s look a bit more like a modern F-16 hud.

@ HUD symbology: the videos were probably made in different master modes or declutter modes – please keep in mind that the D-model featured a pretty complex avionics suit.
A late B-model cockpit would indeed be the ideal solution – however, it featured a distinctly different ACMI panel, which was more similar to the F14D cockpit (Master Arm Switch moved to left, ACM Jet on the right, and missle status indicators were moved to the VDI frame:

That’s an old F-14A RIO seat. The F-14B upgrade and F-14D have a much better digital display, though all of them could display the LANTIRN image without any problems.

Hey guys, sorry for the 3 month hiatus (in which i lost most of my work and i had to start all over again), but i’m back now. And i have 2 files for testing if someone is interested. One FM and one AFM. I’m still not totally pleased with the thrust values for above 10 000ft, but they just might do for now. I have completely out of the Falcon community, so what’s new? Have there been any upgrades in the last 3 months? New 3D models? New skins? Is anyone else working on the cat?
Cheers and happy holidays

Are there any other visual differences between an A and B pit, aside from the HUD present on late B’s?

visually, no.
F110 Engines in the B’s
APG/71 RadarThis F-14B is AKA “Bombcat”
-
Yeah, the F110’s have different exhaust nozzles and there can be some external differences considering the ECM blisters on some aircraft, but i had never seen the inside of their cockpits side by side. Thanks for the info
Do you plan to bind this cockpit (without the HUD of course) on the F-14A as well? -
As long as we have the AFM’s to support each of the models with the different thrust, sure.
-
The B has the SAME AWG-9 as the F-14A, only the F-14D had the APG-71. The F-14B(upgrade) is known as the Bombcat, as is any LANTIRN equipped jet, but the B(upgrade) were known as it first. It came into the fleet as an F-14A+, the best air-to air fighter <opinion>until the F-14D came along.</opinion>
