Changing HUD color?
-
Can you change the color of the HUD? Green is hard to see on white overcast clouds.
-
Yes, using Weapon Delivery Planner of via keystroke (‘H’ or ‘ALT-H’ is the default, iirc).
However the “correct” solution is to adjust your color/contrast/brightness/gamma settings on your monitor. Some ‘color fade’ is normal and/or realistic under certain conditions.
-
Its also a real life problem, when the clouds are too bright the hud is hard to see irl.
-
+1. A RL HUD can be washed out by the sun in lots of situations.
-
I think the default key combo to cycle through the HUD colors used to be ctrl shift alt c but this may have changed in 4.33, not sure. There also was a key combo to permanently save your HUD / color setup I believe…
Sorry for being so vague, I’m away from my gaming rig ATM.
Cheers, Uwe

You can save a HUD color to and load it from your data cartridge. From an older thread:

This is an extract from current BMS manual, 9.6.4.5 HUD Color Internal Views External Views:
“This is not really a view feature as such, but it should also be mentioned. Using the keystroke (ALT-h) you can step through various HUD colors with different intensities. Altogether you have 16 options here to choose from.
Although not realistic it can help you to increase the contrast in specific lightning conditions.” -
“Invincibility” option can also help under some circumstances

We all have our cross to bear. I guess this is yours. Learn to cope.

Learn to cope.
I have a better idea -> Trying to enhance this a little bit to get a better rendering of HUD projection …
… then remove this infamous option once for all.
-
I would love any enhancement that gave the HUD a sharper, more vibrant look (as shown in the pic), but I still say, for the purpose of the sim, you must retain some allowance for reduced visual acuity and/or individual color perception/color blindness.
For the purpose of RL …… no. You can screen for it and exclude potential pilots as needed. For BMS … for a game, not so much.
Edit:
Right …. sorry. I’m now beating my dead horse and if DeeJay gets his wish, I’ll have to ‘learn to cope’.
