This has been a small issue since the original release by Gilman. Twaltie and Bluprint made efforts in this area to some success, i.e. HiTiles and Bazrat.
But, true to form, to do the entire Korea theater resulted in compromise. As far as the coordinations of the tiles in GUAM we are but a couple degrees off from RL according to Nikos. Not bad IMHO considering the ādinosaurā tools used!!!In GUAM theater, one of the more important points is āJoe Playersā immersion in game. That being stated, would we rather have this on our AB:

Again this doesnāt matter.
If the shelter area in the pic is 20m on Y and the 3d object is 15m then itās obvious u will have what u show in pic no1. So u have to create the correct shelter. Not scale the whole theater tiles and objects thing up.
Also in this pic the shelter is covered with groundā¦ if u removed this ground maybe the shelters in the first pic are the correct one (as for size) and not the shelters in the second pic. -

Thus as you drive down the streets in your F16 you will have even more immersion. Also, if you all would like, I can name them individually for youā¦e.g. Lazy Arses House, Artyās Abode and so onā¦:mrgreen:

But more to the point on scaling, the terrain mesh is closer to 249.934476 than exact 256. Go figure.

Well why not simply decrease my FOV setting instead of all this trouble?
And if u want more detail: For the tiles double the resolution and for objects double the texture res also on which u need - like.
Instead of scale the whole thing and reach higher levels of yoga and above dan 1000 in karate just find for the factor u want the fov setting. Also u could create a matrix per resolution - screen size which fov setting is the best. Or we should all buy a monitor based on your size and res to have the same effect?
I believe u could do this in one day and not spent the time u did. -

Gents, this has taken some time, but worth it for Guam.
Quakes model of the F15 is very nice and has been in Falcon versions for years. But, essentially it is beyond the boundaries of the sim and tools.
That being stated, I have replaced it in Guam with CCCās much more user friendly model (AND saved a bunch of FPSā¦ā¦LOL)
I cannot remember ATM how many DOFās or Switches and Drawable Nodeās we can achieve in a LOD modelā¦that is for Wavey and others to decideā¦Iām not a modeller.

Going further, this particular version of the Eagles may never be available to Joe Public due to the fact that I HAD to change some of MavJPās\Topelos SIMDATA workā¦ā¦donāt worry gents I did not touch any propulsion data, just some gear ranges and some hard point grpāing to match the model used.
Without access to a theater specific Simdata, our hands are tied ATM.BUT,
as we can see the bird is there and flying.
Some Jocks may see an absence of AIM120ās on the airframe. Intentional and Iāll explain why.
From the first build of Guam to the latest we have encountered a problem with limited airspace to fight in. I.E. the original campaign had Patriots as AD (both sides)ā¦ā¦you could barely get off your base B4 you were slammed out of nowhere by themā¦LOL!!! As well, most of the original airframes in game carried AIM120ās AI\JP BVR capableā¦in PLAYING the game we noticed that once WOW (Weight off Wheels) we could target immediately, with the 120ās, some of the ingressing Opfor airframes. Not good for gameplay.
So we are removing the BVR weapons from Guam, one airframe at a time, to enhance gameplay.
Trust me, I flew many thousands of flights in Falcon B4 I became an Idiot developer and I have a bunch of people who fly this almost everyday.
It will make for better Gameplay.Cheers,

Uhmm, no, the F-15 in stock BMS is Mike Rivers work.
Also I remember Quake has not given permission to use his F-15 model for
use in non FreeFalcon versions, ā¦ back in the days.AFAIK this was (one of ???) the reason(s) why Mike did his own F-15 model.

Creating new theaters for this sim is NOT easy: the code was never meant to be able to do so AFAIK. We are helping beta test this and so far it looks encouraging but is as challenging as always with these theaters.

The code doesnāt really care. Plug in the correct data in all the different phases, the theater and all its assets, the campaign files and all of itās fileās and variables, art files, etc., etc., and a clean working DB and sheāll run it just as well as the standard Korea.
Whether Microprose intended it to be that way, who knows. The community has over the years made it possible through all the various tools that were derived.
Yes, itās a ton of work.

Dave sent a beta copy of the theater to me, Mower, and a handful of other folks a month or so ago.
I worked up a .cam file for it, but itās not fun. As Dave mentioned above, with the current DB and AIM-120s Iām just not finding the .cam entertaining. There is no terrain to hide behind; itās all over the ocean and the actual landmasses of the islands arenāt sufficient to provide cover. Furthermore, the way the DB files are set, missions ingress/egress at 25k feet. So basically right now you have sets of planes that ingress towards one another at 25k and then lob tons of -120s at each other at max range. Eventually, if you have the right conditions, it will devolve to a dogfight once both sides expend all of their BVR weapons, but not always.
And there are other issues. Both sides feature CVNs and naval forces. The ATM will schedule naval strikes, but instead of massing a sensible alpha-type strike it sorties 4 jets at a time at the CVN, 2xF/A-18 escort and 2xF/A-18 with Harpoons or other naval weapons. Itās a slaughterhouse.
Finally, I am having real trouble finding a hook for the campaign. I love the sandbox nature of the theater. But coming up with an overarching goal has been problematic. It can be an attrition based campaign, but the way the campaign runs right now it just doesnāt work right and isnāt fun. To be honest, I think my good idea fairy has left the building. Iām just not able to think of anything to do with this other than spawn jets that fight each other. I think I might need to pass this off to Chuckles or someone else that has some good ideas.
The theater looks fantastic and some of Daveās ideas are really neat. The more I play with it, though, the more I think it either has to have a much lower number of aircraft, or it might just be more suitable for PvP or TEs.
