F-16 Engine sound in cockpit.

… and even with a full motion sim you can’t, basicaly because everything if more about linear accelerations related rather than angular acceleration/position.
Wide screen and/or full view is more suitable for jets airplanes than 6DOF motion cockpits (which are more suitable for commercial liners and helicopters).
100%
Id beg to differ
… with a major problem for flight simulators because of the high occurence of sensorial illusions which happens very often in flight. Sometimes in the plane, you might think you are wing level and pitching up but actually being 3/4 inverted and ptiching down to the earth …
you might want to qualify that by pointing out that they happen very often in instrument conditions - but if you can see where you are going, and you can see the ground, then your eyes override these false sensations. (obvious to you and me, maybe not to the guy you pointed it out to)

I just thought the sound while takeoff sounded nice ;).

lol … ok … but what you are showing is not the classic 6DOF motion cockpit that we are used to know and even in your example, the guy is never under a sustainded 6Gs
EDIT: Thank you for the vis, I didn’t knew this technology execpt in theme park http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xxct6c_danse-avec-les-robots-martin-solveig_news

Not always … brain can be a ****ing enemy.

Actually the UMS -is- capable of six G sustained.

what the pilot actually hear … watch and listen this :
And now compare with this one (same aircraft) without helmet :
Well… shouldn’t BMS replicate the plain environment without simulating a helmet then? I mean, if somebody want’s the sounds to be filtered by earplugs and a helmet he simply could …well… wear earplugs and a helmet, huh?!
Btw. if someone really want’s to die by lawndarting the jet in BMS, with a little effort I think he can get this done as well by himself
:drink:

So is that video of the helmet sound same for all jets? Specifically the f 16 i wonder if you can hear the turbine whine like we do in bms. I vaguely remember reading that pilots do hear it, but Ill ask some f 16 people what degree is the same and change my settings to that, if the recommended settings with headphones are different from strict reality.

With the advent of VR on the horizon i think our preception of fly will be made that much more real. The likes of the oculus rift will fill alot of what we are missing.
Its a good time to be simming is it not!

this one sounds exactly like F4 BMS:

Dark/bad weather is NOT required to get spatial disorientation. It just makes it easier to happen. On my first F-16 flight we did an Immelmann where you end up upside down at altitude. It was VFR conditions and I was sitting there strapped into the ejection seat and I didn’t feel like I was upside down. I felt like I do right now sitting in my computer chair at home. This is why they preach faith on the instruments rather than on your senses.

I got to jump in on this….
During take off and landings (all of this with a helmet on), you do hear a few things. It is rather quiet but there. As DJ put it, your brain ignores it. But those cues that people are talking about would be very difficult to reproduce in a sim like fbms. When you throttle up, there is a wine that can be heard if your listening for it, but again, it is rather subtle. In AB, you will hear something. It is not sound per-se, it is vibrations against the jet and what ever is in the pit (including you). You may think it is noise when in fact it is vibrations. Difficult to reproduce that effect through sound (a good 15" 2000w sub might be able to re-create it) but it is still quite subtle. So, reproducing what is heard (through a helmet) would be difficult at best. Maybe a sound ported to a dedicated subwoofer can do it, but IMHO, rather pointless (not to mention a lot of work).
ALL PRAISE DARK HELMET!!!
btw; you would hear breathing and oxygen pressure through your mask, kind of like Dark Helmet.

Yeah even at idle the entire aircraft is vibrating. Nothing even close to what helicopters do. This is a much quicker, higher frequency but low amplitude vibration. During launches you can feel it by holding onto the aircraft or putting your head up against the bottom of the wing.

LOL, nice Space Balls tie in.

It is the purpose of the “External sound slider” … and well … can’t make everyone happy.

Yep, and Helos I would assume would be enough vibrations that you could hear and feel. Bushmaster could probably chime in here as he fly’s em.

Your welcome!
