Difference between block 40 and 50?
-
Is there an in-game difference between the block 40 F-16s and block 50 F-16s? I know in real life there are a few differences but I cant say ive spotted any in bms 4.32.
-
In the cockpit? nope. Same cockpit in BMS.
Under the hood? Yeah. Different engines for starters - and that is modelled in BMS.
-
Also, no HTS on Blk 40’s, even with AGM-88’s loaded.
-
Then there must be a bug as i was able to use the HTS with the block 40 from Osan airfield

Are you saying Blk. 40 comes stock w/ HTS? I had heard that you could add HTS to Blk 40 by way of Modding, but no HTS on Blk 40 w/ stock install.
If it is a bug, then I guess I’m glad it’s there or else I would probably never have taken the time to learn POS and HAS modes.
Could it possibly have happened when installing one of the Israeli theaters?
In Korea, I have no check box for the HTS in load out screen, but if I load AGM-88’s, I get a HTS on the 3D model but the HTS doesn’t come up on the MFD. Says “Not Loaded” (I think) on MFD page for HTS.

Maximum take off weight, some munitions, engine as mentioned…i’m not sure if radars are different

it seems that the block 50 has a superior engine and I wonder how that was accomplished by GE specifically.

Word on the street is that the block 40 is what the cool kids fly.

Yeah I get 50-60 knots less with block 40 with afterburner on flying straight at 2000ft, block 50 hits 800+ knots!, block 40 only manage 750ish knots :(……I’m switching to block 50.

MTOW in BMS is a bit off anyway. A tad on the low side iirc.

Would love to fly block 40s for doing LANTIRN missions. Without FLIR though, all it has to offer is a cool HUD (with harpoons mod).

Block 50 is where its at for engine power…

BLK 40 is designated Ground Pounder mostly, altho they can do A-A but made mostly for A-G

So you know someone flying block 40?

@Agave_Blue
Agree -
For your information, there is one Block 40 unit in the USAF that is tasked with SEAD/DEAD as a secondary mission: the 36 Fighter Squadron based in Osan. The “Flying Fiends” and they have HTS pod’s allocated to that unit. They also use AGM-88’s and PGM’s to destroy sam sites. That is the only US block 40 unit tasked with that role.
