GEMFX - bring the visuals of BMS to the next level! :)
-
Hi BMS community,
Today I found an amazing graphics mod that I think this community deserves to see and utilize amongst itself. It works with BMS with little to no impact and itās ABSOLUTELY impressive! Itās called GEMFX. You can download it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/dcvp2q5cqpcbi2u/GEMFXv1_0_8.exe
These are the screenshots I have of it so farā¦ These are all IN GAME, no photoshop, nothing but GEMFX running with BMS in real-time!
A tutorial video on GEMFX can be found here, all you need to know (from installation to tweaking) is right there.
Now the vanilla installation will have issues with the BMS menu GUI (black screen, no external camera switching) so the settings on first running the configurator should be as below. Select what ever effect you want but keep āCompatibility Modeā button selected. The other tabs for the individual effects iāve left default for the time being.
You can add any of the effects above.
Now, go ahead and tweak BMS! I look forward to seeing all the screenshots and videos you all make from it from here on in

Looks very promising. I will give it a try for sure.
-
Here are a few more screenshots after some tweaks and different campaignsā¦
-
Thank you ! LetĀ“s see if it works with sweetFx !

SweetFX is built in, you donāt need a separate copy of it running
-
Oh , didnĀ“t watch the video before )

Hmm, sounds cool for screenshots and cool outside views, but donāt see added value for realism inside the pit? I donāt get lens flare in my eyes when watching through the canopy as Iām not a photo lens? Or do clear vizors also can cause such an effect on large enough scale itās as noticeable as on the screenshots above?

In fact, there is no added value with this āmodā for the simulation aspect. Candy eyes for external screenshots only.

Looks like shit sir! (imho)
Over contrast = pit is dark like ***
Blurs image quite lot, so nothing new real effects
Just usual post processing mess.
Next levelā¦maybe bit over positive thinkingā¦ sure if next level means messed colors, over dark contrast and smooth blur then maybe
-
Great now BMS can simulate my myopia as well !
-
Where is the nex level? Just because you add a tons of unreal effect (at least to me) does not mean upgrade. Since when my eyes experience lens flare effect?
-
A bit too much āStar Warsā for me
-
Ok guys, just see it as an expansion for SweetFx (in fact, it is) to play around with. Nobody wants you to use HIS settings !
-
Itās just for sceenshot or in real time in game ?ā¦
-
Fps impact?
-
Still havenāt had a chance to try it, but nevertheless thank you for sharing it with us.

Since when my eyes experience lens flare effect?
Real-time in game
It is lens flare then!? Oky ā¦ I thought it was fingerprints on the screen:
ā¦ for me (personal opinion): counterproductive (especially if it cost FPS, even 1 or 2).
Maybe (maybe?) ā¦ to be tested for some NGVs specific rendering. Maybe. (?)
In a rules of thumb, I am no a fan-boy of such thing ā¦ if it were better with different color schemes (more realistic etc ā¦) we would have set them by default in BMS.
The āonlyā thing that might be improved, is the blue/dark blue gradient with altitude increasing (Sky should be darker at hight alt passing FL250 and more) -
I read that post-operation eye surgeries can produce similar secondary effects on short/medium termā¦ so in some way itās realistic
More seriously I think the only visual tweaks worth it are some small contrast and colorimetry adjustmentsā¦ but not necessary at all since BMS alone does the job very well.
