-Ice,
Post a friendly question, and receive friendly help.
Criticism is very welcome, too. If it is based on some knowledge, that is.Why does your mic not work? What is your microphone setting on the Settings/Microphone page?
What are your Settings of the Sliders on the Settings/‘Speech Recognizer’ page?I’m not mad at you, btw.
Cheers,
Torvil -
To anyone interested,
register at livrot.com, post your user name of your registered account in this thread or PM it to me, and I’ll upgrade your account for free.
All I ask is, that if you create a realistic flight profile, that you upload it on livrot.com (support page) for others.
To help improve the manual you could also make a short list of pages and problems concerning the understanding of the manual, thanks in advance.
Everyone would benefit from it.This offer is valid at least until January 15th 2017.
Enjoy,

You do know I was ranting, right? Very first line on my first post.
Criticism is very welcome, too. If it is based on some knowledge, that is.
Are you saying my criticism isn’t welcome then? What more “knowledge” do you need to acknowledge that the UI and manual needs more work to be more newbie-friendly?
Why does your mic not work? What is your microphone setting on the Settings/Microphone page?
Sorry, you are confused. My mic DOES work. VAC and Windows confirms this. Why does it not work with LMC, even after following your quickstart guide instructions?
What are your Settings of the Sliders on the Settings/‘Speech Recognizer’ page?
If you are referring to the Window\Settings Window > Speech Recognizer tab, I’ve not touched this at all so whatever is default. I’ve not been told to fiddle with this in the instructions so haven’t messed with this page at all.

You again Ice?
Same stuff as the Yame story but with LMC now?
You’re starting to piss off mods with your name appearing a little too often in these support discussions that turn a bit too hotYou two fo fix that problem on LMC now.
By the way, Is LMC payware? It’s BMS policy not to support payware application gents. -
I have downloaded LMC my user name for Livrot.com is Toaster 1. Is this what you require to upgrade my account?

You’re starting to piss off mods with your name appearing a little too often in these support discussions that turn a bit too hotSorry, but the issue with YAME is different from the issue with LMC.

Trust me, the email exchanges are getting rather…. interesting.

By the way, Is LMC payware? It’s BMS policy not to support payware application gents.
Really? AFAIK, TacView is payware too… unless I’m understanding that term wrong.

I have to excuse to -Ice,
having read that passage of the manual again, it really is a major mistake of the quick-start-guide. Useless, misleading and stupid - to be honest.
I’m not always at my best when working on the manual or LMC, as I do try very hard to make it better and this often produces the contrary as the days grow loooong.
The passage explaining the mic hotkey button not recording the release events is of absolutely no use to the beginner.
I also have to excuse for my reaction to his small ‘advisory’ rant.Today I finished translating the german manual, made the artificial speech response work with 26 additional voices (languages) and achieved that it no longer ‘freezes’ LMC to have text spoken by artificial voice.
Soon the next version rolls out, and I hope that people can start to appreciate the effort that I have put into it.
The new English and German manuals should do a much better job explaining LMC.Regards to -Ice and LMC users and you,
Torvil -
I really appreciate you acknowledging this issue, Torvil. Do know that I am here to support your program, but it’s difficult to do so if the manual says one thing, real life gives a different result, and the user is left scratching his head and getting frustrated. Imagine using the F4.0 or F4AF manual to learn BMS… you’ll get nothing but frustration and most likely decide that BMS is not worth your time. Now imagine learning BMS with the new step-by-step manual they have in 4.33.2! Hours and hours of learning and joyous flying follows. I guess we simply need to make your manual “idiot proof” and I’d be happy to volunteer as the “idiot”! Anything to flatten the learning curve will be a plus! Teach the user how to walk before running.
I would also like to follow your lead and step up and apologize for the rant… I’m on night shifts plus the pressure of the holidays so I was really frustrated especially as I got LMC to work last year. However, I would like to say that I still stand behind the points I’ve made on the rant; perhaps I could’ve worded them better like Tyrant did but then again, I did say it was a “rant”
I look forward to getting the new version of LMC and especially the new manual. I hope that it does indeed help new users use and appreciate LMC.

I did investigate the issue you have with the mic, -Ice.
To my complete surprise. I enabled the SR, then the mic and directly afterwards the Log told me ‘listening stopped’.
I have a Win 7 Ultimate install in English featuring the US and UK speech recognizer.
Switching to the US recognizer on the settings-window / ‘speech recognizer’ page fixed this for me.
I will investigate this further tomorrow.Regards,
Torvil -
Thank you for investigating!
Indeed, pressing the mic icon starts the mic and then “listening stopped” immediately thereafter. Using the microphone hotkey, I don’t see the “listening stopped” but still, speaking into the mic produces no results. I’m on Win10 Anniversary Edition with up-to-date patches. I’ll try your fix tomorrow.
Thanks!

I fixed this bug in the version that is to be released soon.

@ Livrot: Do you think it would it be possible to implement DX buttons as PPTs? … in fact, using keystrokes might be a serious issue for pit-builders using a lot of combinations.
-
Salut DeeJay,
do you mean PTT (press to talk)?
For all I know this is implemented since years.
Just connect a stick, click on the mic hotkey button and press the wanted stick button. To the general public:
Over the years, every three month a ‘Target’ user finds out, that it does not work with LMC, though.
Without target it works well. LMC can be used just as target to program the warthog, … and many other sticks, permitting even button- or key-shifted buttons and other weird thingsA new version of LMC is to be released within the next weeks, the manual became much better and lots of things have been improved.
Cheers,
Torvil -
I didn’t knew it (since I bought VAC a long time ago, I am using it … but it doesn’t have Dx function) … I know some ppl who will be happy!
-
It is true that PTT in Livrot doesn’t work when Target is used, but I’ve found a way around this.
In Livrot Settings window, Hotkeys tab, I’ve selected the “Home” key for the microphone PTT. In BMS keyboard mapping, the “Home” key is used for the UHF button on the throttle.
But the UHF button can also be used with DX. It means that when I press the UHF button, I can talk on the UHF channel (thus, using DX) and, if I want to, simultaneously send vocal commands to LMC (using “Home”).
It works very well. -
OK,
the next version is almost ready. Yesterday I took it over to my laptop and …
I could not even record a single hotkey. Not even as ‘Windows-System’ Hotkey.
I could load a profile and configure one of those LL-hotkeys as ‘eating’ - knowing that it would get keyboard information from another direct source of the system.
This worked.
I will now need some days to fix this for Laptop Owners, as most likely any of you has no ‘Raw-Input’-keyboard information - as these laptop keyboards are entering the input stream as raw-input-‘HID-Devices’ it seems.
I hope you excuse my laziness on the subject, as all I did so far was loading a profile into LMC, converting all hotkeys to win-sys and finding them working well. I did not try to record a single hotkey on the laptop before, sadly. It is only a matter of days until the next release now, expect it to work better on laptops - along with many new features.
Cheers,

Hi everybody.
I´m new here around. I just want to ask for a real real quick intro. I just want to use this software for transmitting commands to Tanker/Awacs/Flight…… I tried implementing this software to my BMS 4.33U3 according to #16 on page 2. just installing and editing Basic or Windblow profile. I tried talking to the software, but mostly it doesn´t understand. Only some short commands like “Two brake left” are recognized around 30-40%, “tanker request fuel” is accomplished with lot of luck after 10 tries at maybe 25% rec… My mike works fine and I´m a trained English speaker (from Germany), even my US- flight instructors always said I´m doing fine on the radio. Voice control in my Mercedes or even in real fighters like the Typhoon do understand my English from the very beginning even without voice training. So what´s wrong with the software setup and profiles out of the box? Must i really train my Windows10 (I already switched my desktop from German to US English setup) or is it a problem in the language settings, which I can´t change in the trial version (it´s blued out)? Some commands are correctly recognized in the sim, but there are wrong outputs, f.e. in Basic profile calling any tanker-menue commands results in changing cockpit-views, but calling my wingman works fine. Running the Windblow profile makes different errors, this time wingmen commands go wrong. It doesn´t matter if I load BMS full key or anythinge else. Is there any profile out of the box which matches without faults BMS full key? As I said, I just need the radio stuff for the moment, implementing radar work and other features like in the Typhoon or even real Viper can wait…
Thanks for help

Hi.
It´s me again. I managed the problems myself. I had to load English speech packages to my Windows 10 and trained the Windows itself with my voice for maybe 20 minutes, now LMC understands nearly everything I say with over 90% confidence. I thought, the software is ready for use even untrained, well, that´s a matter of Windows I know now. The second problem with the Tanker menue was more complicated, I compared the working Windblow profile with the non working Basic profile in the LMC editor. Only one entry was different, key 59 was followed by 0x15 and this works, while the 2c entry in Basic profile would always make Z keybord events instead of Y in German and international keyboard also. The crazy thing about that was seeing a Y output in a event tester window and while running BMS I still saw always that Y in the event window but always a Z toggle in BMS. I really don´t know what these numbers 0x15 and 2c do, but now eyerything works great and I´m ready to paypal for the license. Now everythings works great together with a Helios setup and TM Warthog/ruder set (without Target, just configured in BMS according to the F-16 Bl.50/52 manuals, who really needs Target??). Headtracking is on the way and I hope to get this working as fast as this voice part.
So as quick start procedure for dummies and/or non English Windows users I wold suggest:
1 Switch one Windows profile completely to English and install all language packages, even for speech
2 Install your mike, set it up and begin the Windows speech recognition training for at least one or two sessions (takes maybe 10-15 minutes in actual Win10)
3 Install LMC and one of the BMS profiles like described in answer "16, using Basic profile may result in Tanker menue problems and the editor must be used to correct this.
4 Buy license and enjoyOnly one point in the moment, which would make it more realistic: Is there the possibility to mute my spoken radio commands in the sim? So I talk in the mike and first I hear my commands spoken by the sim pilot followed by the answer; it would be better hearing only the answer, as long as my recognition works as perfect as in the moment.
Best regards

Hello and thanks Foxmike.
I am in the middle of publishing the new version, so I could not check here on a daily basis, sorry. Luckily you sorted things out, already.
The upcoming version permits to switch to telephone server based Microsoft speech recognition supporting 26 languages. (needs no training - works pretty good, too)
I also took the pain of rewriting the complete English manual while editing the german manual for LMC.
The last days were spent on working around the Laptop Low-Level-Hotkey problem in LMC. - Just fixed this today.
I still need to adjust the manuals to this improvement, bundle it all up with the new installer and check the new license system before it can be published. Many thanks for taking the time and fiddling around with LMC, this kind of feedback motivates!
