Israel 1980s - UOAF edition
-
Hello fellas !
Iāve a little problem with the UOAF '82 campaign. In fact, when I fly with my squadron mates, we take the Tomcat. But the leader spawn already in the air and the rest are on the deck. Whatās wrong ? We must start in ramp ? But with the actual cockpit it seems to be impossible soā¦

1. When did Israeli F-16 pilots become equipped with night vision?
-
in the 80ās, early generations of NVGās did exist but I highly doubt they were being used by fighter pilots. I suspect a big problem was the cockpit instruments were not compatible.
-
Flying at night without them is doable and very atmospheric. Hereās an example of a guy flying the ārealā way:
Itās basically a whole new level of gameplay most people have never tried.
2. Is there a way to permanently disable night vision, even for people in single player?
- Iām only aware of how to disable it in multiplayer, in the falconbms.cfg
set g_bAllowMP_NVG 0
-
-
Doubt itās possible, best to just let the player decide if they want them anyways. Dealing with enemy fighters becomes a problem.
Experimenting with manually reducing AI skill during the night hours. You can change their setting any time you load a campaign save.
-
Itās hard to maintain low-level night flight in the BMS desert scenario because itās difficult to distinguish incoming sand dune even i take NVG.
So we had to revise ACDATA files to add TFR and FLIR in the ITO80, i think FLIR is more useful than NVG though it projects to HUD only.
I know itās a some kind of cheating. But if we donāt do that, we even can not make a low-level attack below 300 feet at night. -
Are there any tower freqās for Egypt? Or do you just roll out when ready?
Edit: Nevermind forgot about vhf
-
Anyone else having their F-14s blow up on the ramp? Also the in cockpit textures only show the bluish/grey wings, not the actual wings. Is this normal?

Itās certainly doable and was a lot of fun actually. Itās really a new level of gameplay. I should continue that campaign actually but flying it SP was getting boring.

Thatās interesting. Never thought of doing that for night flights. This is not only valid for ITO80s but also for any other theatre as long as BMS doesnāt take certain things into account. Some airframes shouldnāt even launch at night in KTO.

This working in 4.34?
-
No not yet, the database changed for 4.34 so weāll have to rebuild this for 4.34. Weāll start it up once we can get the 4.34 version of the Israeli theater to edit
-
If you guys need me to do any donkey work (reassigning things in the new DB layout, etc) - just let me know.
-
Happy New Year!
Iām still super interested in the 80ās version of this theater. Now that ITO is updated to 4.34.1 Iām hoping that this is on someoneās front burner.
-
any chance to port this to 4,34?
-
Now that there is a theater to work from weāll look into it. I also heard that there are 80ās scenarios for the default theater now as well.
-
Yeah I agree with nhawk, I personally donāt have a lot of cycles, and neither does gasman (Gza036). It takes a lot of work to āupgradeā a theater, you basically need to rebuild it from scratch. Letās see if cougarās theater scratches the itch ,if not we can consider redoing this for 4.34.u*
