Time Hack
-
I’ve been reading books such as “Vipers in the Storm” , “Palace Cobra” , “Vipers Pilot” etc. I find these books are a treasure chest of knowledge containing many detailed procedures from simple bombing procedures, taxi and takeoff, lantirn procedures etc. One of the things I often see refer to in the books is time hack. From what I gather time is synced in the mission brief at some point in some relation to H-time then synced again before taxi after startup by the mission commander?? I’m not quite clear on how this works. I’m hoping maybe someone can provide some clarification on this as I think it would be something to add to the immersion in BMS.

More than immersion from an amateur point of view. I use time hack not because it adds a realism I’m not familiar with, but because it’s really useful.
First flight is late of 3 minutes on push (coordination point for package). Flight lead announces a Rolex +0300 so everyone can adjust flight times accordingly - or FL tells package leader, who orders, etc… That’s where you need more enlightened inputs, but you can still start to use time hack nevertheless.
It’s more useful in MP though. Still in Alaska?

Yep, love it up here! It’s a magical merciless wonder! Thanks for the info. I find the the little details to be very interesting , plus I like hobbies that I feel there is always something new to learn or master

We use it in our missions all the time.

Almost as often as ‘4-2 Airborne …. and Bingo’.

Worth noting is that nowadays, its less realistic, as its not uncommon to nominate an External Time Reference (ETR) and use that instead. Accurate common timings is important for mission accomplishment, but if you use Link 16 at all, then accurate timings common to the Network Time Reference (NTR) is crucial. If you are out too far from the NTR, your jet will not be able to sync with the network, as the Link 16 network uses time division multiple access - if your aircraft doesnt know when to listen, on what frequencies, it wont be able to get well on the net.
Some nets use GPS as an ETR instead of nominating an NTR, which has advantages and drawbacks.

… and to get everything working … the reference has to be UTC (Zulu) … Which is not simulated in Falcon4 since the reference is Local time. This is basicaly completely wrong.
Edit: for Falcon4, I mean “in game UTC” of course … Not the real UTC with is only relevant “outside the game” to meet on TeamSpeak … etc … since you can choose “when your virtual life starts”
