GBU With TGP Delivery 4.34
-
Flying to the target, Cmbt ready, AG mode, Laser on, weapons Armed, Code 1688, Laser time 15 sec. Altitude 18K Straight and level, Target locked Pointer on, slight turn to right after bomb release to point
Bombs release but do not hit the target have done this a thousand time in 4.33u1 worked fine
Has something change I must be doing something wrong
Thank you

I have had fairly good results so far with different laser guided GBUs which wont help you at all.
Was this Point Track mode? no radar lock, no clouds

If your lasing time is only 15 sec. and bomb fall is longer than 15 sec. you will either need to adjust your laser time (I set mine to 90 sec.) or fire the laser manually with the first trigger detent.

+1âŚâŚmine is set to 99 sec. No problems so far dropping LGB/GBU in Point Track Mode

Thanks Guys This will give some thing to change

Not really. The last 15s are usually more than enough.
Our GBU-12 is not well modeled but IRL, if you lase too early a GBU-12, it will lose excess energy, especially in low-level bombing runs, and it will usually fall short.

Our GBU-12 is not well modeled but IRL,
well at least itâs far better than in 4.33

Are you sure the bombâs laser code is 1688?
-
Is the âLâ symbol flashing?
-
I got it to work i bombed a reactor at a nuke site ever thing work perfect But I only got one hit, but I think I know where I went wrong I think I had the spread on the bombs set to far apart
But it did workYou guys are âthe Menâ
Thank you

Early lasing is only a problem in certain situations. You can continuous lase from high altitude against static target and should never have a problem. Itâs âflatâ trajectories like releasing at 1,000â from 550 knots that can be a big problem. There is a reason that Paveway III was called the LLLGB, LL for low-level since that was the area that Paveway II had unsatisfactory performance. Most of the time the PII canât even see the laser from high and level release until ~15s before impact anyway because the bomb starts horizontal and doesnât rotate to have its FOV sufficiently aligned with the laser spot until the latter half of the trajectory.
You can continuous lase and review ACMI or just watch Shift-7 weapon view and youâll see what PII does and when (or if) it begins to guide.
Multi-LGB can have problems. Pairs can actually hit each other. Serial can occlude each other by passing in front of the laser spot and PII will not reacquire. You should be able to have quite a large amount of spacing between bombs and still have both guide. The âbasketâ of how the bomb can steer is quite large. If you perform a slight 10-20 degree dive for delivery the weapon sees the laser much sooner and greatly increases its maneuvering time. Lofted deliveries should only be done with careful calculation of when the bomb will be pointed at the target and a sufficient speed before attempting lase.
Plus I think there is a bug with multi LGB release where second bomb doesnât guide. It deserves confirmation and or testing.

⌠I just wonder how many âI am missing somethingâ if one day we decide to implement laser traps ⌠(no it is not a future feature ⌠at lease not yet).

Thatâs a vague statement due to my lack of knowledge. Do you mind if I ask you to explain?

Are you sure the bombâs laser code is 1688?
This was my issue with the LGB TE - laser code needed to be 1511, not the default 1688
I didnât check the code for the LGB in the loadout page, and fellow forum members pointed this out to me

mmmmâŚtesting lgb in 4.34 and having an issue: Laser doesenât fire, I mean no flashing L. Laser Arm on, Laser code matched and CombatLaser checked. Phisically, Cougar print the code ( Alt - in my case ) repetitively. Any Ideas?
Never had probs in 4.33.
ThanksFixed, Iâm old fartâŚ

Cloud cover obscuring target? If you see a T instead of the L (lower left corner) when youâre firing the laser (and itâs all set up correctly) thatâs the usual cause.

Thanks Darkman for Your answer. Fixed as I said above. Iâm silly cowâŚ
Thanks again
