Falcon Sim Store now is offering Cougar replacement parts
-
No thanks.
-
One question: who is OP? Why?
-
Or, at $200 USD per switch. So 10 switches each HOTAS I could part with a Cougar HOTAS for $2000 USD.
You know you are not me.
Let’s say I make 10 switches for you, not including the Cougar itself.
May we make a deal? -
No thanks, not interested.
-
OP is forum shorthand… It’s an abbreviated way of saying the Original Poster. That means the person who started the thread, in this case, Po-Fu.

Thanks for explaining!

So were your prices in taiwan currency? Not USD?

So were your prices in taiwan currency? Not USD?
No, they are all in USD
Since I am in Taiwan, FB restrict my pricing as NTD; that’s why I put NTD999,999,999 as price, which is a lucky number in Chinese culture.I sold the first microstick @$199 just after I posted it on FB, but then got a lot of complaints afterwards.
I soon raised up the microstick pricing to USD299 to stop all the annoying complaints.Fighter Sim Store target to sell value, to keep Cougar in a perfect condition, not to sell cost.
You can buy various switches from mouser or digikey, ranging from a few bucks to more than $100.
But Fighter Sim Store’s value is to keep simmer’s Cougar alive, especially the throttle, and then move forward to modify it as a more realistic and authentic F16 TQS.Finally, I have 5 Cougars from eBay, $400~$550.(shipping cost not included)
But non of them are in perfect condition.
Microstick, Ant-ELEV, UNCAGE…Anyway, if you really love Viper, really love your Cougar; then Fighter Sim Store is your home.

Here is what I paid for the parts from TM on May 6th 2019 :
- RADAR CURSOR RDR MICROSWITCH 252A104B60NB -> 6€
- OT 270S1800 THROTT.FCT HOTAS (Potentiomètre Man Rng) -> 6€
- POTENTIOMETER HOTAS ANTENNA (Potentiomètre Antenna Elevation) -> 6€
- Complete assembly for T2/T3/T4/T5 (radioswitch) button -> 6€
This was 2 months ago.
At $299 for the microswitch (with no return right), you make 97.7% margin, nice business model !
On top of that, this thread should be closed, as it is clearly advertising for your own profit.
I sent an email to Thrustmaster France but there is no reply about the spare parts.
So, Flow32, will you sell these parts at the price you mentioned? -
NVM.

When I asked this facebook store a few months ago about parts he said it was purely for a hobby and wasn’t selling. He was called “… store” back then too… Odd, especially given the very high prices now too.

Maybe I you are mentioning me, and assuming it is just me, though I don’t know you.
Initially, I just wanted to make a good mod and sell mod only.
In the meantime, I got a lot of inquiries about different mods and parts.
I have to push back, and the best way is price.
All the replacement parts are custom made and just the side benefits of the mod project.
And indeed, the cost of replacement parts are high. So, be it!
Whatever it is, take it or leave it.
If anyone wants a $5~$10 switch/pot, go to mouser or digikey; you will find tons of them.
Never bother me, or Falcon Sim Store, with cost issues.
Those are TM’s issues, not mine. -
LOL

I can make every part of Cougar’s switch/knobs.
So, no worries.
$2000 for one Cougar, which is pretty good, but I am not the oneMaybe we don’t live in the same world
I purchased a brand new cougar for 160USD some months ago

I think the criticism here is unwarranted, unfair and discouraging someone who is providing an important alternative.
The $249 USD original Thrustmaster part that he is selling appears to include the circuit board. If you order the microstick from Thrustmaster you don’t get the board.
Removing an existing microstick from the double sided board and replacing it is difficult requiring good soldering skills and tools. It is a PITA. I know as I did it and botched it.
The original microstick has been end of life for years. Who knows how much longer they will be available from Thrustmaster.
The new custom made microstick he has for $199 USD, as far as I am aware the only alternative available to the Thrustmaster part. I am grateful for the work he’s done to provide this option including the board. It avoids soldering and provides a option when Thrustmaster end supply.
It is getting impractical to even get second hand Cougars for parts. I haven’t seen one on Australian Ebay since May 2018! (I have search alerts on them) and there were only two in the entirety of 2018.

Thank you Thommo for your comments!
Some people, including your friend Alan/BigFish, seems to be scared by the prices.
I do want to make the best Cougar throttle mod for myself.
Without this goal in mind, I can immediately shut down the fan page.
To sell the parts and mods really really can’t make one person rich, not to mention you have to spend a lot of time on studying it.
Let’s just enjoy the beauty of BMS and hopefully a even better F-16 HOTAS. -

Let’s just enjoy the beauty of BMS and hopefully a even better F-16 HOTAS.I own 3 Cougars myself, use 2 on diff PC’s and the 3rd (New Condition), sits in it’s original box in my house closet for that day when I need an emergency part that cant’ be found.
Instead of cannibalizing a part I’ll just retire it put it back in it’s box for parts later and use the new one.If you really want to do the community a favor don’t make a Cougar Mod i.e. 250.00 mini stick…. Rather Make a New Cougar. (if the skills and resources are available)
I think the going rate for quality sticks now is going to be in the 500+ range and with the DCS F16 coming out soon, if you did and the price was fair you might just have some sales in your hand.
Certainly not 2000 USD (just est. based off of your mods and total switches) but fair… and i’m in.
