Falconeers: The few the Proud.

probably one of the most realistic and honest review of flight Sims. take a moment and appreciate the huge amount of time BMS Devs have given to the community. long live BMS…

isn’t that DCS though?
edit: ok got it now, it’s a comparison video
-
after watching this I realized what miracle BMS is… story of determination, commitment and unconditional love…
hats off to selfless devotion of Devs and loyal community to keep this legacy alive.
-
The issue is that BMS doesn’t “sell” as good as DCS in terms of views, subscriptions and streamers popularity…
Even myself, if I have 30 views in a stream, this is miraculous!I have high hopes this will change in the future…
In the mean time, we are (as always) preparing many cool stuff behind the scenes but most of those are not visible to the average user. It takes a trained eye to see the implementation that actually makes the real difference.
Actually, I think that not having too much to complain about a sim could be perceived as positive but BMS devs need visible support…
Anyway, I digress… BMS needs a real video to actually show all those things that people don’t see unless they spend hours in the game!
-
I don’t think that any other any other flight sim community has emotional attachment as BMS community has for Falcon. the goose bumps, agony, frustration, excitement, jaw dropping and above all falcon weeks. I guess these feelings are unknown to most of them… May be someday they will realise what they have missed in this adventurous journey of BMS. and that day is not far away.

Every time I read or see that BMS GFX are 98ish I really really don’t understand the shit people have in their eyes
Or maybe they were not born in 98 and just don’t remember how it was really looking back then ?
-
It is comparing BMS favourably to DCS in so much that it has things like the dynamic campaign, but yes, is mostly a complaint about DCS marketing strategy.
-
but still appreciate the fact what BMS has given to us. doesn’t it excite? despite every resource “DCS” might have. they cannot win hearts.
@mav jp. don’t worry kids will understand somedaywhatever the video might suggest about dcs. the truth is legends fly BMS not any cosmetic “Sim”
-
I learned the Warthog in DCS, very fun but cannot hold a candle to BMS… but still, when I think DCS, I only think of it as ‘that decent Warthog sim’.
When DCS promotes all these new ‘modules’ they release before finishing the last, this video comes to mind:
“You’re not just gonna move on to your next money making scheme?”

id love to see you guys put together a behind the scenes a documentary and a history and put it in the main menu. you’re hands down the best!

I confess, I have been flirting with BMS a lot in the last couple of weeks; sucked in by “pretty” graphics, yes, but mostly the Warthog. I fancied trying something different. And I want to try VR.
But… there’s just something missing from it, can’t put my finger on it; despite being in the “high fidelity” A10C-II, it just feels a bit arcade like in its presentation. The cockpit is all in your face, big, bold, too close, too oppressive - the FOV feels unnatural (and zooming doesn’t really help), and I’ve ended up with a stiff neck from the weird positions I’ve had to put myself in to be able to see the TGP without it being weirdly slanted. I sort of want to love it, because then I’ve got an excuse to start down the money pit of VR. But I’m not loving it. Even simply comparing their massive, commercially produced 700 page A10 manual with RedDog’s outstanding docs, especially the training missions, shows that BMS is just better.
Configuring switches (physical ones) - BMS (via AL) understands switch release. DCS does not.
Decent add-ons, such as dedicated tablet apps for MFDs or ICPs? DCS, not really, yet BMS has all that.
Back to BMS this evening. What a relief - it felt nice and comfortable, realistic, immersive. Until it crashed, of course, but hey, that was after I’d crashed in a ball of fire after being ambushed by 2 Mig-29s. And I was running Israel, not KTO. Can’t complain.
I saw a video earlier today of a chap from DCS saying that each aircraft module costs around $2,000,000 to develop. Just putting that out there in the context of the amazing amount of time and effort and devotion the BMS devs have put in. Please don’t stop!

Wow!! Flanker’s 1995-ish graphics are really hard to get past. It’s probably unplayable, I’ll stay away from that one…

Am I the only person who thinks BMS looks better than DCS? Every DCS video I watch, the world looks so cold and dead. Not just lack of dynamic campaign, and all the liveliness that brings, but visibly dead. No collision or formation lights on the planes. Rarely any visible runway lighting (only at night) or lighting on buildings, ships, etc.
The sunlight and shadows look great at first glance but don’t seem realistic upon closer inspection… like the sun is always the sole point-source of light, no diffusion from clouds or sky.
And something about the surfaces and reflectivity seems off to me… like the planes are made out of lego plastic. The combat-block Vipers and Hornets I’ve seen in irl have a strikingly matte coating…
Comparing the two Vipers at these timestamps:
In DCS the level of fine detail (eg. scratches on the canopy and rivets on the launch rails) is a notch or two higher, but not in any way that affects my immersion or experience, as a pilot in the sim. just zoomed-in external views.
The new clouds and other weather effects in DCS look pretty good, I’ll give them that. It has me thinking of giving their WW2 campaign a try… won’t be bothered by lack of PAPI lights on the runway or shiny reflective paint coatings. lol And the clouds would actually be a much bigger part of the gameplay.
-
I personally think that dcs is rather short term, temporary, more cosmetic engineered piece of game “Sim” with actually np real purpose than just sitting in the seat and roaming around. BMS satisfies the true definition of immersion. atleast for me. atleast when i am in BMS pit I know that I have a purpose and that I have to be mindful of events to come.
crux of the whole thing…
" A delayed game is eventually good a bad game is bad forever " Shigeru Miyamoto. -

Keep in mind that the clouds don’t exist for the AI, they see right through them…. but if you play on 100% multiplayer servers they can be used to your advantage. But don’t worry, they are early release clouds…

LOL. ED should seriously rename DCS as ECS. early access com sim

As much as i’ve spent many 100’s of $$ on DCS World planes/maps/campaigns trying to get into it, but I just can’t do it. Even tried the DCS Liberation Campaign Generator but it’s just too strange to me. I find myself playing IL2 BoX Career mode for a WWI and WWII era sim (and PWCG/Pre-built campaigns but all are scripted) and BMS Campaigns fulfill for all after that. Maybe when the Early Access Dynamic Campaign comes out……

Oh dear that is good to know … i’m imagining how outraged I’d be the first time I get gunned while flying along through a cloud bank … yeah ok better to stick with BMS
