AIM-120 range

I am sure you know this but the ranges on missiles are if the target is high aspect and non maneuvering, but I know I have only seen about 32 nm or so firing from 32k 1.1M on a target around 25k.
If both aircraft are hot then the missile should be able to hit it way beyond the 32 nm in that best case scenario.

Hi @kouzi !
As Prime said, please don’t pay too much attention to that data field from the editor.
I can assure you that in the sim, a BMS AIM-120C5 can achieve a range far in excess of 36km.
In fact, 50 nautical mile shots against non-maneuvering targets is not beyond the capability of the C-5 currently simulated.
Cheers

105km is ~56nm. If u shot at the nonmaeuvering target such as a bomber, AWACS, and etc at ‘high altitude’, you can hit them. The following youtube was generated by the old Falcon BMS. But the missile dynamics is almost similar or same (I am not sure) to the new version. F16 shot AIM120 with 15degs loft at alt of 40k’ and speed of ~600 knots (CAS) against A50 approaching high aspect at the same altitude. The shot range is ~50nm because the radar cannot lock it beyond 50nm.

AIM-120C5 was updated with even better performance for 4.36 and we also now have a dynamic deaggregation ‘bubble’ which means you can lock aircraft with large RCS at even greater distances than 50nm now.
I think it would even be possible to shoot at A-50 at 60nm in 4.36, someone should try and give it a go!

hi
a little question
data show AIM-120C range is 105km or above.
weapon data AIM-120C range show 36KM,is it corrent?
need modify ?
thanks
Irrelevant.

don’t trust the DB on that specific item…
missiles are calculated through code and inputs from the sim/misdata information… -
Thanks for everyone’s replies.
have any about misdata modify tutorial?

@kouzi
Well, this could be possible for Mav? or developer. -

Yes the tutorial is quite simple :
Don’t modify Misdata
