Standard operating procedures
-
After reading some threads on this forum, it seems that there are SOP’s for taking off, formation flying etc etc.
Is there a way to get hold of like “standard” SOP’s somewhere. I fly single player still and would like to incorporate correct stuff into my learning instead of yanking and all.Much appreciated

Hi there, the best thing you can do for gettings such documents are generelly two: 1st - join the AirForce and get a Fighter-Pilot or the much easier 2nd one - join a online Squad They will give you there SOPs and normaly a good Training and the rest of needed Documentation If you wanna get better, join one. There’s a List of all active Squads somewhere on this Page

Haha the first suggestion is a good one.
My particular issue is time due to irregular working hours. I’m afraid if I join a squad I won’t be able to be there on time etc. That’s why I thought maybe there are some standard practices that are somewhere on this forum to train with.

the adantage of flying solo is that you can do your own SOP
that’s what squads do too so there’s no reason you can’t do your own. That said SOPs purpose are to ensure all guys do the same things and briefing is minimized with a maximum of things standardized.
When you fly solo you don’t really need to minimize briefing time or to standardize things because you’re flying with the AI
So i’d say that as SOP you will have to adapt to the way the AI do things. rather than trying to adapt them to your way of doing wich is not going to work well -

To add to everyone’s excellent reply’s, if you are looking for standard departure and arrival procedures, each airbase chart set has what they call SIDS and STARS (Standard Instrument Departures and Standard Arrival Routes). These are non-immediate threat departure and arrival procedures. Combat departures are determined by the location of nearby threats, and combat arrivals would include doing an Overhead Approach (or Overhead Break) which is used to get all the aircraft on the ground in a quick flow to avoid incoming threats, or just for fun. These are just some basics. Hope this helps.
