Massive FPS Loss
-
Does the Balkans 4.33 have the same hi res tiles??
-
With the TGP on (The absolute worse case scenario FPS wise for me) my FPS was dipping to 35 in the Israel theatre. Korea it wasn’t as bad as that but I still had a FPS hit with the TGP, which makes sense.
But….
Then I turned off Cloud reflections and focus object reflections and my FPS sky rocketed. Everything else is maxed out.Now with the TGP on my fps is 55 in the Israel theatre and over 60 in Korea.
2560x1600
EDIT for accuracy: TGP still borks my FPS. from over 80-90 to 28-36.

did you turn off just the water normal mapping?
-
Just to say… Maxed out the trees and no fps drop.
-

No, I just turned off cloud reflections and focus object reflections.
I left Water normal mapping and water environment mapping checked.
You may also want to try turning off Focus shadows (I left cockpit shadows on). I picked up some FPS disabling that. After turning off just those 3 things I am back in the green. I just played all day and night and had zero FPS problems.

Hello,
I also have problem about FPS so i tried to shut down all things what you said at underline this topic before but i think that all problem is related to Graphic Cards’ brand because some of my friends use Nvidia graphic cards and it cannot cause a dropping FPS,whereas me and the others use a AMD Graphic Cards so we have lost massive FPS around 25 FPS Max(cut off all candy eye features and apply BMS Manual p.53) at the taxi.TGP also effects fps additional to 50% lost…
I am using AMD FX-8350 Eight-core Processor and 8 Gb Ram and AMD R9 Series Graphic card…I hope that it will be solve the next update 4.33 Update 1…:)

I have two Viper Pits, one with nvidia card and the other with AMD. Both have performance issues with 4.33. Both Lower frame rate and some stuttering also on the nvidia.

Just adding feedback for another data point:
Seeing frames drop from around 80 to 30 with TGP and MAV video displayed. All other settings changes are fairly negligible.
Win10 Pro - 64
Intel 3550
8GB
GTX960 -

GTX960Wow, that’s crazy. I only lost 7 - 10. Was around 52 or 53 …. Ended up around 45.

Yeah - its annoying. Ive tried to track it down to an in game/config setting, or an nvidia setting and am having no luck.

GTX960Me too. I go from 120 to 80 with both TGP and WPN page with video. Its supposed to be an Nvidia problem.

It affects all graphics cards, as they are rendering additional screens effectively.
-
where’s this “relection on clouds” setting? I couldn’t find it neither in the config editor nor in the config file.
Thanks, Uwe

guys you are measuring and comparing different things…
Different HW
different resolutions (and others one others 2 monitors)
different SW
different Falcon momentary situation. -
I made some tests on my puny system - i5 2430M, HD6850M 1GB VRAM, 8GB RAM, 1600x900 resolution, graphics settings in game left untouched, only changes made in configuration through F4Patch utility as described below:
Test environment - Navigation training mission.
1st test - default settings:
2nd test - default with removed Water environment mapping (along with Cloud reflection and Focus object reflection)
3rd test - default with removed HDR lighting
4th test - default with Reduced particle system
5th test - default with Low resolution for clouds
TBC in the next post….

Conclusion (as I can see) : no significant changes (1 to 4fps maximum)
-
… continuing
6th test - default settings with all the above combined
7th test was done with the same settings as above with one thing changed: Per vertex lighting instead of Per pixel lighting but the results were the same.
HDR lighting and water effects consumed most FPS, reduced particle system seemed to have no influence but may be helpful when there is more action on screen (explosions and other effects).
Overall, for me these settings may give some playability vs. watching a slideshow (27 FPS vs. 17 FPS inside the cockpit/42 FPS vs. 22 FPS outside!), at least until I upgrade to a new rig. I could also disable the shadows (inside cockpit and focus shadows), but I like them too much
-
Conclusion (as I can see) : no significant changes (1 to 4fps maximum)
I had to split my post due to attachment limit - the conclusion is that combining all the changes I got over 50% increase of FPS inside the cockpit (from 17 to 27) and ~90% increase in external view (from 22 to 42).

Oh my gawd, such whining. Wahhh! I’m losing 15 FPS! Waaaahhhh! I can’t fly at 4K resolution with everything on like I could in 4.32. Waaah!!! What a perfect display of millennial-type outrage. Look at every other game / sim on the market. Black Ops 3 is more demanding than Black Ops 2 is more demanding than Black Ops 1. Battlefield 4 is more demanding than Battlefield 3 is more demanding than Battlefield 2.
BMS devs have spent hundreds of thousands of hours of their free time putting this together, and releasing it for free.
Anything over 15 FPS is perfectly flyable. Want more? Buy a better rig or turn down the options. Whining and complaining about FPS > 30 is absolutely absurd. Some of you need to seriously consider how atrocious your complaints are.

Where do you see me whining? I just stated that these few tweaks gave me some FPS boost on my crappy PC . And to help some fellow simmers I shared with my observations.
About 15 FPS being flyable - yes, but doing a dogfight with agile bandit with guns only - I wish you luck…
Nevertheless I never undermined the developers who bring us this fine release for free. They are fantastic people, and we all should be thankful. TBH I would gladly pay $ for their hard work as they deserve it for sure!
Peace.
