Hey Snelle, just a heads up that the current legend is partially incorrect. ‘TriggerFirstDetent’ is listed as an unshifted trigger press, while ‘TriggerSecondDetent’ is listed as a shifted trigger press. It is the other way around in the current profile (v5.5)
Caused me some confusion as the second TriggerDetent results in the laser getting stuck, as it never recieves the ‘TriggerFirstDetent’ release due to the x55’s lack of a dual state trigger. Caused a lot of confusion, until I figured out that the mapping legend of this x55 profile had them the wrong way around. -
You just passed the ultimate Falcon test, cheers :bdance:
Thanks for the heads up, slipped in somewhere in between.

Okay, I’ve looked. Can someone PLEASE provide a working X-55 profile which preferably is as realistic as possible? At this point, I’ll take functional over realistic to be honest. The thing about the current instructions is that they’re so obscure that even someone who is a UNIX system administrator (and I am) can’t easily figure this crap out. Is there a good guide or a unilateral installation?

Oh dear, Mr. UNIX himself qualies hard work and free of charges as crap. In case I’ve missed something please elaborate a bit more on your problems.
I would suggest first :rtfm: (in package and first page as well)If you are looking for something different please take that discussion elsewhere and start your own posting.

That’s a hell of a first post Mister !!
Can you tone down the level of arrogance please? That would be appreciatedDo remember that although you might not want to do any effort to try to understand what others have provided you on their free time, they provided effort so you can actually be lazy.
The contributors deserve much more respect than what you’re showing in your post.
Do consider this as an official warning. -
Sorry guys if I came off as arrogant or something. Nothing can be farther from the truth and no arrogance was intended. The community has done an amazing job with BMS and the upgrades in any category (realism, visual effects, sound, flight model, AI, etc) are something that should be lauded. There has been well over a decade of work on this and I have to explain my (regrettable) tone as I was frustrated at the time.
It was supposed to be more of a “you guys have put so much effort into this and it’s ultimately so complicated to get right that I defer to you in my frustration” meaning even some fool (me) who dicks around with configuration files all day in other contexts can’t seem to fine tune it correctly. I think my problem is the Windows drivers themselves which, of course, nobody can do anything about. Since it works for at least most other people, there’s obviously something screwy with the way the Saitek drivers are interfacing with Windows. I just didn’t give enough information to adequately explain the problem. Since I’ve clearly pissed the forum and mods off, I’ll not ask for help and just I’ll figure it out myself. If I figure out what the problem is, I’ll post an update explaining how to fix it for anyone else having similar problems.
In any case, hats off to the community for a great sim, programming, and engineering feat. I didn’t mean to come off as a dick, but in retrospect I realize how it was interpreted that way since I just flat-out didn’t provide enough information. I’ll stop while I’m behind. I apologize.

btw: The last time someone spoke about retrospect it was my lawyer, so cheers have another one

Hi Snelle, I have a random issue with BMS and I am not sure whether it is your keyfile (using X55-BMS4.33-Snelle-5.5-NS, no sound) or BMS (4.33 U3) that is causing the issue. I’ve noticed that in the Tactical Engagement LGB tutorial (non ramp start), the laser will permanently lase when the following is done:
Not sure what the cause of this issue is, hopping you can help out?
I have noticed this behaviour regarding continious Lasing to and it is triggerd by starting the intended manual Lasing by pressing “Pinky D” + “trigger”, followed by an incorrect order of release so to speak. Normal you would release the trigger first but when you accidently release the “Pinky D” first the Laser keeps emitting after the trigger has been released. If this happens reengage with shift+trigger and then release in correct order for the Laser to stop emitting, i.e. trigger, pinky
I guess it is the penalty for not having 2 stage trigger on the X55. -
Hey up Snelle mate. Back to simming here. Finally! So tell me. I was kinda hesitant to update to U3 (from trusty U1) due to reading about the lasing bug. But as i understand it came down to swapped trigger calls in 5.5? Is the current version on the first page corrected or should i fix that myself? Kinda aching for U3
Thanks for your work!
Oh one more thing - wanted to ask if you got better res legend card. Got me a new color laser, wanted to make a sticky laminate cheers -

Oh one more thing - wanted to ask if you got better res legend card. Got me a new color laser, wanted to make a sticky laminate cheersIt is only the map legend that has swapped normal/shift for trigger/manual Lase, for the rest everything is just fine and no bug I’m aware of either. It will take the usual 3-4 weeks to have that fixed, don’t expect any high res charts though.

Well, I’m just going to thank you for the effort. Now that I’ve made you feel all warm and fuzzy, do you want to make a x-65 setup?
I’ve never been able to gets shifted behavior. -

I’ve never been able to gets shifted behavior.I am deeply honoured, really believe me as it is very true
Making a profile for a device I do not have is asking for trouble and will put me in a very discomfortible situation. Sure it can be done, but for practical reasons and putting the functions in the right or most practical place an ownership of the X-65 will be in this case manditory imho.
Nevertheless I looked around and noticed Flukes profile which seems ok on first sight and perhaps he is willing to make shifted functions on his profile. LINK -
Updated the keyfile and map legend.
Keyfile now based on BMS 433u3, changes on TGL throttle functions, sounds changes for some functions.
See the changelog inside package for changes available for download at first page. -

OK I’m new to this sim and I’ve been trying to get this profile to work correctly for a few hours now. Finally got through most of the takeoff checklist, called the tower to remove my chocks, and casually rolled across the airfield at idle. Another hour of googling and I STILL don’t know how to get the “shifted” buttons to work. Can someone help me with this incredibly basic concept?
edit: Never mind, I figure it out. Wasn’t showing up as a different button press in the menu but it worked in game.
-
How did you edit in the use of the shifted functions?
I want to add in more shifted functions for some of the buttons but don’t know how to do it.

DX programming instructions can be found in your BMS installation directory //DOCS/Key Files & Input,
You will find everything written down needed for some editing. -
I’m still using your outstanding profile Snelle but it started me dipping my toes into DX programming. I still haven’t found anything useful to use the throttle slider for, but did find a way to use the Mode switch to emulate the 3 position Master Arm switch (Mode 1 = Arm, Mode 2 = Safe, Mode 3 = Sim). Clicking the switch into position is very satisfying. To make it work you have to choose “Clear” in the Rhino profile menu to make sure Mad Catz Default isn’t selected as a profile. These are the callbacks you need:
SimSafeMasterArm 15 8 -2 0 0x0 -1
SimSimMasterArm 16 8 -2 0 0x0 -1
SimArmMasterArm 63 8 -2 0 0x0 -1I’m a bit confused because I though the button ID for SimArmMasterArm, which is Mode 1 on the throttle, would be 14, but this is what I found in the keyfile after editing it in the UI and testing it.
I’ve made a few other changes too: Rotary 4 controls HMD brightness rather than yaw trim (I flew several missions with my ship trimmed right accidentally). Shift-toggle 1 up activates HMD. I moved speedbrake to forward / aft throttle hat 3 and removed the CWS bindings from that hat to more closely emulate the real jet. I made throttle H “Look Closer” toggle and Throttle I is “Wheel Brakes” I lost an airframe after accidentally slightly extending my brakes while taxiing. It is also impossible to use the VHF/UHF radio while the brakes are engaged in the default profile, making it hard to coordinate multiplayer takeoffs. I’d be happy to share my full .key if you’re interested.

Thanks for sharing Rabbit!
It is a good thing to be able to adapt to your own preferences as you feel or need to.
Taking out the Yaw trim will make your jet hard to control and even make you crash to some day in future when damaged, and I’m pretty sure that will happen. Put trims on your Checklist PTO?
There is no DX for the slider, hence the pr0/SST for the AB toggle.
The mode switch: I will consider using it as simulation of one of the turn knobs, which it is.
For the rest I’m pretty much satisfied with the overall layout of my profile given the possibilities and limitations of the X-55/56.
If you feel to step up consider a Cougar with feetrudder etc., the drawback and my guess is that you will miss a lot of switches for which you like the X55.Cheers.
