This one is really very well selected and to me very typical for the Balkan area. What is the source of your photo material?

It is a matter of good material availability. Europe and US is well covered with rather high quality shots . Other area of the world have some problems and sometime earlier taken sat photo is better in quality and light than the current one present on the server. Also photos taken in winter time for the northern hemisphere really hardly can be considered as a good source and find.

Fighting Falcon, the mountain terrain is absoultely amazing. Looking at those pictures, is hard to belive that they aren’t photgraphs outside the cockpit of a real F-16.
-
Holy hell!
When can we get these?

Did you guys see this here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?13567-New-doctrine-of-applying-supervariations-Superblocks/page2 regarding relatively easy way of getting more elevation into the terrain?

Yes the way is relative easy , but still time consuming.
The partial problem of this approach is that changing elevations this way appears to be little fake. The problems starts with the fact of BMS using L2 as a base height data. One height point per tile. One height per 1 km of land. Sure this is pretty crude.
The problem of such an interpolated set of data is that the extreeme elevations are “soften” and (I think) averaged. This has an impact on how the terrain looks. It looks rather dull because all peaks, heightlands, valleys and depression, canyoons, ravines and any sharp topo features of land are naturally removed.
This was my point of contention while doinf IT BMS. I was for exaggeration of higher/lower areas and spent considerable time on updating the terrain. But E7 was for the realism of data and I eventually conceeded. Then 2nd version of Batlke of Synai came with exxagerated version of hights and I think visually was better.
But dilemma still is there. Realistic data, or hand correction.
BTW using Monster’s TE and 16 bit Photoshop one can really manipulate L2 pretty drastically and quickly. I wont go into that now, but yes there are many ways to play with the heights in Falcon terrain.

Great work FF! I really like your work with the tiles so far.
About the river - here’s a little advice: you can color correct the trees around the river so they can blend better with the surrounding area.
Here’s a quick test using “lasso tool” to quickly select the area then correct the colors using only “hue/saturation” and “color balance”: -
ok correct ….
