Airport Construction Guide for Falcon BMS 4.33+ by Cannon
-
Mhm good to ask around and try to find solutions by your self.
The thing is sometimes things have some rules in modeling but when it comes to falcon there are specifications that might cause issues.
Example:
If u create a rwy part as spline first cause you import it from AutoCAD.
If u make it a poly in 3dsmax it could be 2tris.
If u extrude it lets say only one centimeter it will get 10tris minimum.
If you import it in falcon and don’t have in mind this extrusion when you use it in BMS the airplane could collide and explode the aircraft.
This 1cm will produce shadows. Shadows are fps eaters. Also have in mind that the fact that a guy responded something in AutoCAD or 3ds forum doesn’t mean he is knowledgeable.
I’m not saying that those guys ain’t but also depends on the question you put.I have seen many tutorials many forums many guides… If I applied what I learned for falcon it would be a killer for fps.
I can create and export a city in one hour. But falcon says hey hold your horses mister…Once again I’m not an expert, but for the level you are now I can provide some valid info. If I post something stupid or wrong or if there is a better way I’m sure the gurus will come in and guide you correctly.
So keep on it we all are here for you.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Thank you for the reply Arty. At this stage, I decided to check the back. I will start from the beginning, just want to what I have done wrong. Also, I need to learn the programs more.
-
Hello again guys. I am still having the same issue when converting the object into the editable poly(some parts disappear). I believe there are some problems with my AutoCAD model. Probably lots of gaps. What do you guys think about that? I will recreate model from the beginning.
-
Well why you bother with AutoCAD?
What is the gain?
Why not work directly in 3dsmax.
If u want good measurements it provides such.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

I know AutoCAD. I am not good at 3ds max:).

Ok fine and good cause AutoCAD is precise.
When you do it in AutoCAD in what version do you export it? In my tests from Corel when I export to one format it gets ugly in 3dsmax, but that might be cause of the Corel conversion. It’s dwg and I can’t remember the other format. Try both and test.
Can’t you on AutoCAD close the spline? Normally when it comes to 3dsmax should be ok.
In my tests when I don’t close it in Corel it’s like that in 3dsmax.
Strange though cause Corel has and Corel cad so it knows the correct file format.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

You need to export in an older version of AutoCAD(example: Autocad 2013.dwg). Otherwise, 3ds Max does not work properly. I have not tried Corel but I will have a look at it.

don’t confuse your self with other stuff. since you know autocad it’s ok.
ill look later on what format I used and worked.I believe I have it in my building an airport from scratch video… hmmm were is that puppy?

hmmm I’m exporting in dwg in 2008-2013 format.

I currently have 3ds Max 2017. Older versions might have compatibility with different file formats.

I am going to include this video on my earlier post, for step 1.
I made a mistake on 14’00’’ and beyond. You need to measure the rectangular selection. The stitch function in SASPLanet does trim the image to the selection. Sorry about the confusion.

Hello everyone,
I have been busy with college for last a couple days. But I am back to developing airbase. Anyway, if we go back to the topic I need to learn how to paint the skin. I realized I suck at skinning. I cannot paint at all:(. Does anyone know a proper skinning tutorial? There are lots of videos on the youtube but none of them is satisfying for me. Thanks for the help.

What is what you find difficult? Uvw mapping? Creating textures with an image editing software? The uvw unwrap modifier?
I am not sure if you need help on applying textures to your models or creating textures for them.

Thanx BlackWolf… what do u know… I never used the uvw map gizmo… 2 tell u the truth I didn’t knew it existed…

[emoji39][emoji39] I also barely use It. Once you get used to unwrap you dont look back… But is less confusing for starters.

I told you about the “Gizmo” and the posibility to transform it, … not that long ago, Arty.
This is a good example why I still think it’s better to spend some time in 3dsmax
instead of all those plugins you use.… just my 2 cent again. (sorry, I couldn’t resist):D
Cheers, :yo:

Lazy no need 2 b sorry.
The Gizmo and anything about 3dsmax is good to know. But I believe even pro’s don’t know all about 3dsmax.
The plugins that you r so negative about for me was the trigger to observe and learn more on 3dsmax.
I understand why u say it, spending more time just in 3dsmax I would have learned more maybe.
Well I believe I would just dropped it at all and wouldn’t even create the few models I did and the little help that I provided to others.
So it’s kinda what and how it works for everyone.
Since I can’t have every day friction with it, I come to forget basic staff. I find my self going back to my own guides and vids to recall how the hell is this done…
Posting those plugins doesn’t mean I’m a plugin junky. I do it mostly in case someone would benefit from it.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

I get errors about almost everything. My problems are, I believe, not knowing the differences between commands. I am planning to start 3ds Max courses. There are 3-month courses(72 hours).

Hello everyone,
It is mhm again, hope you are all doing great. I have made a progress about Seosan model. But I came to visit my parents and I did not bring my computer. My parent’s computer is unable to handle 3dsmax properly. The machine has an integrated graphics card(Intel 520). Anyway, I want to ask you a question: what is the best way to make the high-resolution textures for runways and taxiways? Arty’s high-resolution textures are great. I need more information about Arty’s like textures for runways etc. I am still learning 3ds Max but I believe Adobe Photoshop is better for skinning. What are your thoughts about it? Also, I can create textures on Adobe Photoshop but it takes a lot of time. If you guys know a better way please let me know. Thank you so much for all your answers.
