How many of us MP BMS guys (and gals?) are there anyways?

Most young ones dont like the effort that goes into learning and configuring simulators, casual gamers that like easy unfortunately.
Them damn millennials…… They try and lump me in with those idiots (I’m 30) and I can tell you I am definitely not one.

Interesting thread. As for myself, I’ve recently returned to Falcon, which I’ve flown on/ off since, well, 1998. I fired it up again now in order to play SP not MP: I fly the DCS A-10C exclusively online with my wing, and wanted something to play on my own in addition to the online stuff.
The atmosphere in BMS is excellent for that. I never fly DCS alone because the world is either dead or scripted. Online, with everyone from the ATC and AWACS to wingmen and JTAC’s being other players, it comes alive, but for SP nothing beats Falcon.
And man, it has come a long way in the 5-6 years since last I logged any serious hours in the F-16! Lots of new things to learn and enjoy
As for the OP asking about trying to explain this hobby to people…I gave up on that a long time ago

My 2 cents:
1. I would love to dedicate time to a VFW, however my real life does not allow me to do it.
2. I have been flying falcon since 1998, and I still feel as though I am crap when I read about other peoples exploits here
3. I have done a little MP with someone. He was less experienced than me (see point#2), but planning a TE and flying it was a great learning experience. It makes it much much harder than blasting through a campaign and knowing that your wing and second element will be around somehere.
4. We also flew a little bit of 1v1, but much more as a training exercise rather than flying against each other. Very very useful, also switched on smoke to allow each other to gain turn radius and aspect angle etc.So in summary: the whole VFW thing does put me off a little (my formation flying is very very poor), but I would encourage everyone to find a buddy that they can fly with if they have not done before because it is generally more rewarding and harder.

Just bear in mind that ppl don’t come to the forum to tell the community how bad they screwed up
They come here to show off how good they are
So don’t let that decrease your self esteem. -

After all the years for flying Falcon 4 it gives me immense respect for people who do/have done this for real.

Just a short resurrection of the piece: Call it not a fix, but an update, call it whatever you prefer, but the current state of MP do not allow peps to join with 512mb and enjoy the best MP-server experience I´v known. I saw on a regular basis 60+ clients and the server were perfectly stable and oh man the immersive epic battles! I was when i took my first FO-ride indeed the noob that didnt do the lingo, f** up my bulls-calls and on my 2nd FO-flight caused a blue on blue, BUT ALL worth every second of dispair and self-esteem going south, thinking about the experience of flying a combat mission with good friends up against 30+ humans that really is trying there very best to see you hanging from a chute! That my friends is Falcon for me and I miss it deeply!
No FO without the eminent Falcon bms. Hurray for BMS, but please fix/update/cure/mend/apply/wright the thing
/Jaws
Falcon Forever!

I dont really know how many fly online around the globe . Flying online has many parameters .how much time you have how much time the other members have, what relationship you have with other ppl, when you participate in a squad you go in a club an egoism club, hard core simmers who think that are pilots not even the holy universe recognise them as that ,want to be left alone with their partners.how much time you have too read how much money you have to spend .i was member of a club agood one ithink the best in my opinion this club divided by 2 or 3 times .Now as a grown up person lol
I fly alone i dont care of anything i dont even care if bms will exist in the future i just fly and discover what a pilot of f16 does through this nice sim of bms,so i hope lots of ppl to fly online and be huppy with it, and by the way before 10 years we had lot of problems with mp stability and bugs with open falcon but it was fun in a point ,those stability issues are a factor why many ppl prefered dcs or allied force back then, now i dont know what is going on with mp so cannot express an opinion -
Make it as a poll this would be an interesting one ,let it expire by end of the year so will see how many ppl fly how many ppl fly online or not
-
still will not be accurate. many guys that fly online don’t have an account here.
there are 56 officially declared squadrons.
with an average of 10 members is 560 with 20 is 1.120.
some have more than 20 or 30 but the average I believe is about 15.There are some others not registered in my list there was a record of 95 inherited from the previous thread… so that sums up to 1.000-1.400…
So the numbers are around there…
FO had-has many members, can’t recall now… they could also provide an average of active flying members…

The problem with a VFS is the dedication it takes. I would love to join one, but the problem is with 2 kids getting the free time to dedicate to a squadron AND be effective / contribute properly doesn’t fall in line. So loners or very casual online is essentially what I’ll have to live with for the foreseeable future.
Anybody know a good casual VFS?

Time is short more so here for me. I make the attempt almost every evening but something aways interfers. Like some unnatural unseen force doesn’t want to allow me some enjoyment Simming in BMS. But yeas ago I had much time and more kids around but much time to sim. Now no kids to interfere. And no time. WHY WHY. Only this moment to read this thread at early am is the moment I have. Trying my best to catch up to BMS news

To both of the bottom lines.

why do i see so many people commenting on the shrinking player base insulting potential new people and criticizing others for not putting in enough effort?…
i think you just answered the question for us.
