With the addition of Datalink for IR missiles in 3.37.3U, I have implemented this feature to the AIM-9X missile. Giving it LOAL (Lock on After Launch) and Datalink with Inertial Guidance options.
Missile will perform exactly same as default AIM-9X at closer ranges. However, at longer distances it will behave similar to AIM-120 where it will receive updates mid-course via datalink. Once missile is within the seeker range, IR seeker will turn on and search for targets. If the datalink is cut during mid-course missile will fly using its own INS to this predicted target position. If launched without tone or radar lock missile will constantly search for heat signatures and will track the first one it detects (similar to maddog on amraam).
With addition of those new features, now it is possible to hit targets that are as far as 30km (15nm) away at higher altitudes without worrying about seeker limitations. Keep in mind that HUD will not display pitbull / seeker activation timer unlike ARH missiles.
Installation:
- Go to “Falcon BMS 4.37\Data\Sim\Misdata” find “AIM-9X.dat” and copy the file somewhere else.
- Download the file: https://www.mediafire.com/file/897vrznrdxc98ac/AIM-9X.dat/file
- Place “AIM-9X.dat” file you have downloaded to “Falcon BMS 4.37\Data\Sim\Misdata”.
It will replace default AIM-9X missile.
Enjoy.
