RE: 4.33 HUD time to waypiont carrot missing?
So if you enable the time caret, you lose your ‘estimated time remaining to steerpoint’ reading?
Welcome to Falcon BMS.

RE: Heading scale callback
For those disoriented when the heading tape falls off the HUD under g-loading you could, in addition to the HSI and HSD, use the big display outside the cockpit for directional reference.

RE: Refueling tips anyone?
Probably one of the more radical suggestions is to practise with the HUD turned off (Dee-Jay has a
) as it forces you to react to what the tanker is doing and not use the HUD as a crutch, trying to second-guess speed, the horizon etc.For anyone who is still getting good at AAR form up on the tankers wing (without calling ‘done refuelling’) after you’ve taken on fuel and stay in formation as the tanker flies his racetrack pattern. If you can stick with him in formation you will find flying with human wingmen so much easier.
You can do a number of variations with the built-in training TE:
- Flying #2 position (as shown below) to practice on-deck positioning. You can tailor this for the AI lead to finish refuelling in straight-and-level or turning flight by timing the tanker call.
- Disconnecting mid-turn to gently slide into post-refuel observation.
- Sticking with the tanker for longer period of time to simulate a larger flight.

RE: When to Fight, When to Run - featuring Robin Olds (Battle for Sinai)
I will share what I thought of the fight. This is just from the time i was killed. We both know I made my mistakes so I was killed immediately. But for everyones and maybe even your benefit I would like to share what I thought after my Death. First your wingman should never had said “Fox 1 inbound” unless he saw it coming at you, He should have said “Defensive” and then just performed the proper defensive procedures.
Wrong already. Judging by the weapon and aircraft systems being simulated the wingman could have made some appropriate manoeuvre and or calls before shots were fired but everyone has missed that.
I wonder how many pages of back and forth opinion the resident experts can generate once they get in on this thread

RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
Can you elaborate, Falcas? I’m seeing that same TWX error for every user generated TE.

RE: Am I the only one who's missing something?
And dont forget to hold the speedbrake fully opend by holding your speedbrake switch pulled.
Open them fully after you’ve put the nosewheel on the ground!

RE: Stick Sensitivity
i give you a tip
FM_developper_note_4
page 20when in pitch up situation like the third graph
An = G cos(pitchangle)…for 45 deg pitch up, An = 0.7G
under 11deg AOA (which means the FLCS is in G command mode) the FLCS ALWAYS commands 1G when stick neutral, therefore the AC is pitching up by itself to keep 1G, if you want to fly straight at 45 deg pitch up, you need to fly at 0.7G whiich means you need to push a little on the stick
For my own comprehension is this same normal acceleration feedback the reason why the aircraft, in “hands free” cruise flight with FPM on the horizon, has a tendency to slowly pitch up into a climb? i.e. an ≠ 1 in level flight due to non-zero AOA?

RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
Another query regarding version 3.4.2:
In a ‘home built’ TE (.tac / .twx) taking off and returning to Kunsan with Deterministic winds from 340° the Datacard displays depart from RWY 36 but arrive on RWY 18. Additionally with Osan as alternate WDP suggests to land on RWY 09. I appreciate this can be adjusted by the user but the automatic choice seems inconsistent with the known weather - assuming it was trying to make a smart prediction?
-
RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
Not sure if I’m using WDP (3.4.2) incorrectly but it seems that the Min Fuel value for the final navigation steerpoint, for example an alternate airfield, is hard coded to 1000 lbs. If I’m flying a block 50/52 then I would like to have the Min Fuel column recalculated for 1200 lbs - or preferably allow my own independent choice.

RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
I’ve made a cursory check of the airbase elevations and spotted some potential errors:
Region Airbase/strip Elev.(chart) Elev.(WDP) Notes China Shenyang 254 262 WDP chart outdated North Korea Kaech'on 204 516 WDP chart outdated Kaech'on SW 516 240 South Korea Mandumi 239 259 Seoul 258 137 Sokcho 6 77 ```In the two indicated cases WDP appears to include outdated (2006) charts. edit: typo

RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
Pretty sure, yeah. I find WDP 3.4 continues to display 10000 feet in DTC -> SYSTEMS -> ICP even after I manually edit the pilot.ini to adjust ALOW MSL.
Ah. It seems to be sorted after I used WDP to change ALOW MSL away from 14000, save, back to 14000 again, save.
Cheers.
-
RE: Weapon Delivery Planner released
When loading WDP “ALOW MSL” in DTC -> SYSTEMS -> ICP always appears to be reset to 10000 feet and, unlike everything else on this page, does not display the value already present in callsign.ini
Currently one must therefore correct ALOW MSL every time.
You are correct, was a small typo in the code. Fixed in the next update.
Thanks for the report.Gr Falcas
Hi Falcas. I think this minor issue is still present in version 3.4.

RE: Tutorial video: Full ILS approach procedure
Enjoyed the video overall but I have to say that when you demonstrated the missed approach and flew back to HONEY there was a strange decision to rejoin the hold by driving the wrong way down the hot leg and calling it a ‘parallel entry’. This is discussed in the video between about
.I wonder if a teardrop entry is most appropriate for similar situations where one arrives at an anchor point from the 12 o’clock heading. At the HONEY IAF it would look like this:
(edited from Red Dog’s chart for Choongwon ILS RWY 34R)However this still leaves me curious about mid-air risk if two aircraft approach the IAF at the same altitude but on reciprocal headings…

RE: BMS updated manual under WIP from Redog !! ?
The VERIFY CHECK does refer you back to the cockpit interior checklist:
I’m not sure whether you are just picking at Red Dog’s documents or following your own wayward procedure. The fact is you’ve skipped the cockpit check where usual practice is to make the radios ready as early as practically possible.
- Part 1 of Wizard’s
- RD’s BMS 4.32 Dash One Manual - Section 2.1 “1st Sweep”
…all describe radio preparation before engine start. Backup UHF will operate on battery power.
