Cool. Glad to help.

RE: EWS // Data Cart: Flares do not sequence properly
Watched video. First note is that your DTE load won’t work because CMS system is not in standby (or off?). But it was loaded anyway on spawn. That step is doing nothing.
Second you’ll find that if you try to enter that program manually into DED/EWS page that it’s not valid. Let this be a lesson not to use data cartridge for debugging. The bug report pertains to the the data cartridge as mentioned in the subject title. How can a person debug the data cartridge without using the data cartridge for debugging?
Dispenser was noted not to dispense flares and to dispense too many chaff when certain SQ was set to 0.
What part of my video did you see too many chaff dispensed?
Why do my settings properly deploy chaff even when flare settings are zero’d?
Why do my settings properly deploy flares if chaff is also set on the same program?
Are you suggesting the simulator is behaving as intended? -
RE: EWS // Data Cart: Flares do not sequence properly
hi
is your ploblem like this?
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?36642-BUG-report-Flare-Sequence-Quantity-don-t-work-when-Chaff-Sequence-Quantity-is-0sorry i can’t post link, but you can find my post in this technical support category.
regards.Yes, this appears to be the same bug I’m reporting. Good to know it’s not just me then.

RE: EWS // Data Cart: Flares do not sequence properly
Look for sequence and quantity values of 0 which are bad news.
I’m not sure I understand your reply. Why are quantity values of 0 bad news? Is this a known issue?
How do you go about setting programs specifically for only chaff or flare in 4.34?

EWS // Data Cart: Flares do not sequence properly
Hi all,
Apologies if this has already been reported. I did a search on the forums and came up short.
I’m having an issue getting my flares to sequence properly.
Version: 4.34.0 (x64)
Expected behavior:
Flare program settings should burst/sequence as programmed the same way Chaff program settings do.Actual behavior:
Flare programs do not sequence properly. They only deploy the initial burst of the sequence, and none of the remaining sequence, if there are no chaff settings applied to the program.See video:

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Sure. And I would also win 1.000.000€ at the lottery.
It never takes me long to remember why I don’t come to this forum often. Peace out.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
U r saying exactly the same thing as Mortesil said.
Re read it please. Probably a misunderstanding.
And in 20fps on the ground or some points on the air is fine for maaaaany ppl. If u want more fps invest money on your hw setup.

I re-read. I don’t think I’m saying the same thing as Mortesil. I think he’s saying your computer will process the campaign faster if you don’t use vsync and leave your FPS uncapped. I’m saying I don’t believe it works that way. Maybe Mortesil can clarify.
And in response to your suggestion to upgrade my hardware my point is that BMS doesn’t make use of the hardware. What’s the point of getting an expensive multi-core CPU and top of the line GPU when BMS doesn’t take advantage of them very well? I have an I7, 32 gigs of RAM, and a GTX 1080. What’s left to upgrade at this point? I mean, it’s cool that 20 FPS is fine by your standards, but wouldn’t you like to be able to run the AGM65 tutorial at 60 FPS? Wouldn’t you like it if guys like Tomcatz could build amazing theaters like the Baltic Theater and have it actually be playable? It’s not just about getting 60 FPS under normal circumstances in Korea it’s about the poor optimization stifling community development.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
There is more to FPS than just the display on the monitor. May not be getting more than 60 frames on the display, but the rest of the game (IE That dynamic campaign and all the 3D objects being updated) is running faster.
I don’t believe that’s true, is it? I don’t think vsync affects what the CPU is doing or what speed it’s computing the campaign or 3D objects at. It just adjusts how the frames are presented to the monitor. At least that was my understanding.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Worse case scenario: Campaign, DAY1 0730, Poor weather, 100% Cumlus, TGP + WPN + FLIR on HUD, 12 displayed contrails. => 20FPS. Still playable, perfect for me.
20 FPS perfect for you, not perfect for me. Thanks for testing and sharing the results with us.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
- Vsync forced to “Fast” on nVidia control panel => 80-95FPS ; no tearing in game.
Lol, nice. But you know you’re not actually getting those frames, right? Sorry to be a killjoy but you can’t make a 60hz monitor display 95 FPS.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Samsung C27F396 : https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/business-monitor/detail/1037/C27F390
Native resolution is 1920*1080 (1080P)
Refresh 50, 59 & 60Hz. It is currently set @ 60Hz.Monitor is FreeSync capable, but I have a GTX970 nVidia card.
That’s why you’re getting tearing then. Just because your rig can push out more than 60 FPS doesn’t mean your 60 hz monitor is going to like it. Cap it to 60 FPS by using vsync and the tearing will go away. The question is can you maintain 60 FPS under stress like the situations I mentioned above.
I don’t think freesync is compatible if you’re using an Nvidia card, but don’t quote me on that.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Stil being installing and setting my new rig … I do not have any Capture software installed yet, but will think about it.
This afternoon, I have had a quick test in my native resolution 1920*1080 at 100FPS+ in cockpit, buy with Vsync OFF (I had tearing when turning my head with the track IR :() … need to fine tune the settings.
What’s the refresh rate of your monitor? If you’re pumping out more frames per second than the refresh rate you’ll get tearing. Vsync or Gsync is needed to prevent it. BMS runs best in regular vsync in my experience. Gsync has been broken for me and many others ever since the win 10 fall creators update. Fast and adaptive vsync are just variations of regular vsync that allow tearing either above or below the refresh rate. I don’t like tearing so I’m not a fan of either.
I get 100+ frames in some cases as well if I disable vsync and unleash my system. It doesn’t really prove much if you’re just doing a 1v1 dogfight or instant action. Try ramp start in a 4-ship flight at Kunsan with a mixed AG loadout, or ramp starting a loaded F18 on the deck of the Vinson or Enterprise in SP. (MP is fine). Or try doing the bad weather AGM65 TE with your MFDs displaying video feeds while you’re creating vortices in a turn. I get frame drop into the 50s and sometimes 40s in those situations and they look extra terrible in Track IR when panning the view around. Granted I’m on a 4K monitor which is 4x as many pixels as a 1080p, but my graphics are pretty low. Other than high object detail, focus shadows, and the most basic water shader I’m running all eye candy on low or disabled. I also tested a 2k recently and it didn’t perform any better. I’m not asking to be able to fly over a fully modeled Las Vegas or Dubai, but damn It would be nice if BMS was optimized to give us a little more freedom to experience detail without sacrificing so much performance. The sun in my sky is a flat white circle for Pete’s sake and I still can’t maintain 60fps in all situations.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Dee-Jay I checked out your YouTube channel but I don’t see any BMS videos more recent than the 480p 30fps one from 2 years ago demonstrating the AFM. Do you have any 60fps vids from your new rig? Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to derail the topic.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Vsync ON or OFF ? … in game or in nVidia control panel? …
Every combination I could think of. Some people are more sensitive to stutter, tearing, and hitching than others. I fly with some friends who stream their flights and their videos look butter-smooth to their eyes, but not to mine. I’m willing to disable almost all eye candy if it helps keep the FPS at the refresh rate of my monitor (60hz), and most of the time I’m successful, but there are still many situations in BMS where the FPS drops no matter what I try.
I’m running an i7, 32 gigs ram, and gtx 1080. Not sure what’s left to upgrade at this point.
It’s a shame we have guys like Tomcatz in the community who are willing to take the time to accurately model the placement of every building, bridge, and windmill in Germany but the software isn’t optimized well enough to run it.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
@Cloud:
Anything coded will always have room for improvement/optimization.
C9
To express it in this way is to downplay the degree of necessity for an optimization improvement. While your statement is technically true, would you not agree that BMS has a particularily strong need for improvement in this area relative to other software? Seems to me it would be easier to agree with me instead of saying, “it’s just Ostsee” or “BMS is fine because the dynamic campaign will keep it in a category of its own forever.” Replies like these come across as dismissive. I’m not misinterpreting you, I’m trying to make a point about your replies.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
@Cloud:
Well, Falcon has survived the test of time now for 20 years.
Not to mention it has more users than any game in the genre!! Well, really there is nothing else that compares to Falcon, with a dynamic campaign, so it’s basically in a category all by itself!!
C9
So because Falcon has a dynamic campaign you don’t think it needs to improve optimization? Interesting.
-
RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
@Cloud:
It’s never gonna get any better in Ostsee/Baltic. There are over 17500 object(ives) in the te_new and campaign files.
As compared to stock Korea which has a mere 2693!!
C9
True but even in Korea my FPS dips into the 50s if I’m near a naval group. Just a few low poly non textured boats cause frame drop when they’re moving around. FPS dips around Kunsan too if I’m carrying a mixed loadout. And it drops regardless of what’s around when TGP and/or 65s are uncaged, especially in combination with particle effect condensation and vortices in a turn. FPS in the 50s sounds OK, and it is not bad if you’re playing a game with a fixed view point, but it’s not so good when combined with track IR where stutter and hitching become so noticeable just from panning the view around.
There has to be a way to better optimize the performance. I don’t think BMS can stay relevant if something isn’t improved in this regard. The competition can fully model Dubai while we struggle with boats and square buildings.

RE: Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
Forgive me if these things have been mentioned, I only pop onto the forums a few times per year, but I would love to see:
-Different wind speeds at altitude. Wind should be stronger at angels 30 than on the deck. Give me a reason to use the drift function on the hud and take wind into consideration during BVR.
-Human controlled AG weapons affected by wind. Leave AI weapons alone so they hit their targets.
-Improved ship defenses that can shoot down in-bound anti-ship missiles.
Most of all I want improved performance. It’s very difficult to get a smooth 60 FPS on 4K even with graphics set to low in most categories. Flying over an urban area in Ostsee and I’m lucky to get 15 FPS.

RE: The HOJ mode gone malfunction in current version?
So there is no risk at all using jammer in BVR combat ?
I personally don’t believe HOJ exists in BMS. I did a find on page search for “home on jam” and “HOJ” in every manual I could find and got no hits. I’ve searched youtube for any video that could demonstrate how to use HOJ functionality and didn’t find any. I dove into my memory banks to think of any time that I was targeted by a missile in a mysterious way that only HOJ could explain, and couldn’t remember any. I can’t think of any single instance in my hundreds of multiplayer missions where I felt like someone was using anti-jammer tactics against me.
I believe the jammer protects you from locks in the ~25-40 mile range.
I believe there is no advantage or disadvantage to using the jammer inside of ~25.
Beyond ~40 there is a small disadvantage to using the jammer since it can give away your position, but it has nothing to do with HOJ.I’ve been searching for proof of HOJ existence in BMS which is how I came across this topic, but I haven’t found any evidence in favor of it yet.
