How can we take a backup of logbook so that if game crashes at least we can get our shiny profile back.
Ejoy BMS the way you want but be advised that our goal is to offer a realistic approach of F-16 flight experience…
So don’t expect much support on “acardish” setings.Maybe one day you’ll have access to a HOTAS and start the “real” stuff…
Cheers
Oh I will.
Doesn’t really have to start with a HOTAS, but a good-enough joystick with some extra axis for throttle control might do the trick as well. Maybe you can pick up one on ebay used / cheaply, the pots might need cleaning but it’ll be miles beyond anything a keyboard-only setup will have to offer you
Admirations for getting through BMS missions on a keyboard though, incredible and a great sign of your determination!
All the best,
Uwe
Yea obviously a joy stick will be miles better, I’ll get my hands on that sooner or later but boy…. BMS is one hell of a real thing without that too. The planning, the avionics, the thrill of flight and weapons delivery, its a great a sim. Lost my last log book due to a crash. Started new campaign and on second mission I obliterated a whole AD battalion alone winning a Distinguish Air Medal. Its fun.
In my experience only certain battalions can be moved and take orders once they have been moved by airmobile. Any airmobile battalions or an amphibious assault battalion will move and take orders, but you cannot move most battalions once they have been moved via airmobile. They will stay put and won’t budge so make sure if you do send those ones you place them exactly where you want them as defence only. They can be picked up and placed anywhere not just airbases. C-17 will land in open area and drop them. And yes Air mobile will turn and abort if threatened, especially common in early campaign when there is lots of red air to threaten them.
I see
An Air Mobile flight will abort their mission if threatened in any way. So if there were enemy fighter aircraft in close enough range to cause this you may want to clear the airspace before sending the Air Mobile in to the delivery point. I don’t know if this was the case but it could be a possible. I’m quite busy at the moment and don’t have the time to test any time soon, but will when I get the chance.
Its ok. Actually I’m also almost in the beginning of campaign (I think Operation Iron Fortress) and I wanted to pick up patriot battery from Kimhae. I don’t think there is any air threat that much south but I’lll try again.
Glad to see my Air Mobile tutorial video still being brought here from time to time.I was only able to achieve consistent results using this technique to air mobile units from one airbase to another using fixed wing aircraft. I was never able to do the same using helos to move ground units, results were never predictable meaning that the ground units were not able to move once the air mobile was completed, also never had any success doing this to capture enemy held territory. It will take more testing to see if there is a workaround for this, but I haven’t attempted it in quite a while and not at all with 4.35.
Well, I tried with your video but the C-17s arrived at the pick-up point and then aborted mission and returned home. I’ve latest BMS 4.35
So let me know when you do try.
Even so made with 4.34 still valid for 4.35

ok, Thanks.
Yes you can but it’s not air lift but air mobile. You need a pick up and drop Steerpoint and the ground unit must have the air mobile flag set.
If the transport is a winged AC the pickup and drop should be a airbase. With Transport Helicopters pickup and drop can be anywhereGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk
Can you recommend some document to see details?
I’ve more questions
1. Do we have to create the air-lift flights ourselves
2. In case of helicopters how we do it? make pick up and drop steer points and make sure ground troops are at the pick up point?
3. Either way can we drop troops on enemy held fields?
Hm, I’d suggest you invest the time to learn “proper” refuelling as it’ll help you master other skills like formation flying, keeping your patience & cool in hairy situations, resisting the urge to shoot a heater at friendlies close by and lots of other useful tools
There are many threads here that’ll help you get that “picture” required for a successful hookup, and while it can be a bit frustrating at first it’s incredibly rewarding once you can do it consistently, much like riding a bicycle “properly” without those pesky two extra wheels mounted at the back (I’m sure you remember that feeling when you first managed that :))
All the best,
Uwe
Sorry for replying late.
Well you wont suggest me to do realistic refueling if I tell you I’ve been flying with keyboard. 8-) Because that’s exactly what I do.
Otherwise I’d never go for easy refueling. And you are absolutely right about the formation practice we get from tanker. I flew a couple HAVCAP missions in campaign and stayed with tanker for over an hour. Did a lot of formation flying (Well close enough :D) It was fun. I even planned to refuel if that idiot F-18 could finish. But that guy also kept refueling for over an hour, his wingman ran out and ejected while I decided to RTB after doing my time with 2000 pounds left.
How can we move ground units by air lift?
Can we air lift whole combat battalions to capture objectives?
another clue if you cannot see the flight sequence. if your vhf intraflight preset is 16 then you are 2nd flight of the package means yours DL will be 21 and 22 and rest you can calculate.
Yea, thanks. Finding out sequence isn’t a problem. I just didn’t know that it’s the sequence that’s used as IDM address
in the ICP / DED:
LIST -> ENTR -> DCS SEQ (right)see page 77f of the TO-BMS1F-16CM-1:
and page 99 of the TO-BMS1F-16CM-34-1-1
That’s what I do, but I use the last number of their flight call sign as IDM address, for example avenger1 two ship flight will be avenger 11 and avenger 12 but you are telling the sequence in which they were created. I think that’s what I’m doing wrong
I’m trying to figure out how can I see the position of other flights in my package with IDM. When I change the UHF to tactical 6 and initiate IDM, I only get position updates of my own wingmen i.e my own flight. I want to see other flights of the package as it is a great help in Escort missions.
I set the refueling realism to easy and went on a campaign mission, I refueled first time and that was piece of cake, and then I kept trying for half hour and tanker just behaved like realistic refueling, no help at all.
I’ve BMS 4.35 with U1 installed.
Do you go through external views?
If you switch to exterior view, the sound goes to the maximum.
See the traker, there is already a report.https://bmsbugs.blu3wolf.com/view.php?id=106
Maybe the same bug ?
I’ll try this.
Did u by any chance in the meantime accelerated or decelerated the time? It oftens go vwery high when the comms are active and at the same timeyou “play” with time compression
I do use time compression a lot, but its still a bug isn’t it? if it goes high with time compression then it should come back to normal too. Anyways, I set the values from Setup UI as those are more reliable.
I adjusted my radio volume by using the 3D cockpit knobs for UHF and VHF radio. also I reduced the intercom volume but after a while it was again very high, I looked at the knobs but they were still where I set them, at low volume, So I just touched them (did a left and right click) this fixed it. But after a while it happened again. Its a bug. Knobs remain where we set them but the sim forgets the volume. Touching the knobs the sets the volume back where it should be.
It was observed in KTO compaigne.
