I’d like to teach SAM operators in BMS to want to live (or at least try to keep their batteries operational). I mean, they might turn off the radars when they are attacked by ARMs ( of course, HARMs have INS, but a long flight using it will result in a miss). They could generally turn on radars less often, relying on external targeting, and only turn on FCR for attack if they can receive it of course, otherwise acting independently. And finally, shoot down more types of munitions. In BMS, SAMs only react to ARMs. So far, air defense in BMS is an easy target (except Sa-10 and 11, they could shoot down HARMs).

RE: SA-11, SA-17 Evasion
@Aragorn
No more than 50 meters off the ground. If it’s flat ground, 10-15m. If you are close to the launch site, then 5m or even a little less. In general, “stay below the radar” means that if you are radiated, descenduntil you hit the grounduntil the radar stops radiating you or hide behind some relief irregularity. By the way, you can effectively fly very low by turning the cockpit down, just imagine that the ground is the top, but don’t forget to reverse pitch (not the fact that you can do this, it’s quite a strange thing so far helped only to me). -
RE: SA-11, SA-17 Evasion
@Sniper-0
Stay out of the launch zone, for a start Evasion from the missile is possible at a distance of no more than 10nm (that’s approximately, I didn’t count exactly). You need to turn away from the launch site, fire the afterburner, start the weave maneuver, and after about 5-6nm pull up. Chaff is ineffective, but there’s a very small chance to break lock. And the closer the launch, the less chance you have.But it’s usually simpler than that. Stay below the radar. You’ll minimize the chance of anything being fired at you at all. Likewise, if you’re at altitude, immediately dive to the ground. Just don’t go up on the terrain. And yes, check the Threat guide. There’s some pretty good advices there.

@Dufus
I’ve had the same thing, antivirus (ESET NOD32) found something “potentially dangerous” in the launcher. However, it’s obviously a false alarm. For me, I’m not known of any infections through BMS (Of course, only if you downloaded it from the official site). I’ve been playing BMS for a relatively long time, and like thousands of other people haven’t experienced any security issues. I think you can ignore this warning. -

Great video, and a good track. But the best music is the sound of your fighter, and nothing more! -
RE: The new UI is too small for me
@SemlerPDX
Yes, I can. But first I have to buy a newer computer. My laptop isn’t that bad, but something newer is better. For example in BMS, when there are a lot of troops around me at the same time, my laptop feels pretty bad. -
RE: The new UI is too small for me
@b0bl00i
You’re right. But for at least a couple of years a new PC will be the thing I need the least. Real life is more important, whether it’s good or not. -
RE: The new UI is too small for me
Well I use a notebook, and it’s already a bit old, although 1 terabyte of storage and 16 RAM is not too little. Another thing is that there is no video card, and my RAM can be divided by two.

Thank you very much, Seifer. Although I like the new UI more, but it’s so small. -
The new UI is too small for me
First of all, I would like to thank the BMS team for their amazing work. I was really looking forward to 4.37 and it was a New Year’s gift for me. And everything is great except one thing: the new UI is too small. Maybe I’m just blind, or my 1366x768 resolution isn’t right for the game, but it’s a little hard to read.
My question is, is there anything I(or anyone else) can do about it? Sure, I can play it that way, but it’s pretty uncomfortable.
Example below, and so with everything in the game: settings, logbook, mission schedule, etc.

RE: Merry Christmas and happy New Year
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
And yes, I saw Santa! Now you have too.
But it doesn’t have to be that way, Santa needs sleds and deers with an extremely low RCS. No one should see him in flight by radar. -
RE: Are backseaters pilots?
@Aragorn said in Are backseaters pilots?:
So - realistically - whilst in flight, the backseater COULD open the canopy?
…Especially at 3,000 km/h. But seriously, without a forward view, you can fly and even land a aircraft. There are displays with a marked path, but a blind landing… I’m not sure that backseaters are taught it. But if you pray,
you can land successfullyyou’ll crash, die, and go to heaven: it wasn’t a wasted prayer (otherwise you would have gone to hell!). In fact, it’s more likely that if forward pilot has a heart attack (or whatever it is), you pull the nice red handle between your legs, which… But that’s another story. -
RE: Are backseaters pilots?
@Atlas
Well, it depends on the plane. Some ACs have navigators who can’t fly the jet simply because they don’t have a handle. The flight training of these guys depends on the country. I can speak for Russia, the navigators there can fly. And even land the plane, but only if they’re very lucky.
Although some planes are just very “fun” to fly from the back seat. I mean the MiG-31. I guess the view from there is not very good.
If the navigator sees anything there at all up front. -
RE: Several things not working
@finsterdow
Maybe you need to explain more about what you were doing and what went wrong? If you want to get help, try to be more specific, and ask all the questions separately. From what you wrote, it is difficult to determine whether the bug is your own mistake? So no one will give you a clear answer. At least I can’t. It’s just advice, but I recommend you follow it. -
RE: Israel Theater of Operations for BMS 4.36
If you were able to change the icons of the awards to the Israeli, can it be done with the icons of the ranks? I tried to do it myself, but I couldn’t update them with ResTool. It’s certainly not too important, but it would be nice to have Israeli ranks.

RE: What's the F-16 FAC ?
@Vespa
FAC - Forward Air Control
Aircraft with this package are supposed to help with search and targeting for jets with the CAS package (Although the last ones are doing fine on their own). -
RE: F16 Stall
yes, the Viper can spin. Back when I was a very active skydiver we had a pilot that was also an active F-16 Test Pilot at Edwards…one day he brought and showed us a HUD tape from a spin test he did (clean wing) that nearly got away from him because the airplane did not recover as planned, and his spin chute failed to deploy - sent a chill up my spine hearing “negative chute” over the COMs from the Chase. He eventually did recover at about 6K…which was a good margin below where he should have ejected (out of control or spinning below 10K). Learned a number of things from watching that tape that I’ve since employed flying RL Trainers - and BMS.
I’ve encountered spins in BMS tying to do tail slides (clean wing) - the inverted one is extremely violent and reds out very quickly. I haven’t found a way to recover from that one, being blind from the red out. Recovery from the upright one is similar to recovering from a deep stall - and even then, you tend to recover around 6 to 8K after you get into thicker air. BTW - the AOA Limiter pretty much prevents you from doing a tail slide in the Viper…
The BMS Viper is certainly departure resistant, but like any airplane you can get it to spin if you aggravate it. The BMS Viper flight model models spin and AOA hangup very nicely, but you have to know both how to recognize what is happening, and/or enter the desired maneuver.I tried to go into a spin, and on different aircraft. It didn’t work. Only on the F-15 did something very weird happen. I got up to about 20 feet, and the nose of the plane started to turn to the right. I tried to correct it, but my yaw only continued to accelerate. Then my pitch started to increase. And then… Well, I don’t know how to describe it. My plane started falling. Tail down. The F-15 stopped spinning, but I couldn’t stop falling. The negative airspeed was increasing. And then the IAS increased to 1,000. Then I got a redout and the game stop. The speed reading was something like 1145689 and the G was -569021.

RE: F16 Stall
Can the Viper go into a spin? I’ve never encountered one, but maybe some of you have had one?
