FPS with TGP & AGM camera both active
-
Overall I have absolute no complaint about fps in433. With vsync on I’m rocksteasdy at 60 with allmost all graphics set to high. MY vid card is GTX960 on [email protected] P55 chipset.
I can turn down all the options on Nvid driver side or in BMS, it does not matter what I do : when both MFD’s have TGP and AGM camera active fps drops to excactly 48fps making viewing a bit choppy. It makes me wonder that even though all my setting are relative high the frame rate drops to 48fps, exactly the same name number if settings were tuned down all the way low.
Is there anything, setting or whatever that has specific influence in fps for MFD rendering TGP & AGM camers’s?

I have same issue. Same Video Card. Nothing helps.

Turn off V-sync.
Besides, 48 FPS is way above what your eye can notice (the human eye cannot track more than ~35 FPS anyway).
-
I-Hawk that does not help me at all. Turning off v-sync gives me tearing and that is unacceptable as I use TIR and look around all the time.
Again, having both camera’s on results in 48 fps (which indeed is not bad) and a choppy picture when moving the view. This choppy picture is my main concern.
Even when I turn down all the graphics the affect seems unchanged so there must be some other reason then quality or system specs.
Any options ? -
Did you try reducing the shaders as the BMS manual suggest (quest for FPW chapter?)
We know 4.33 with displays on (especially TGP, WPN and FLIR) have a huge impact. But in your case mate. 48 fps is not a huge impact
It’s huge for you because you focus on the FPS display
Disable it and come back to tell us that the simulation is choppy at 48 FPS??Some of us suffer from FPS as low as 15-20 in such situations and that IS choppy. So I rather thing you’re on the safe side of the fence
-
48 FPS with TGP and Weapon Camera displaying, that’s a downright travesty.
Choppy! Im surprised you can even a weapons lock.
BMS what were you thinking, this just won’t do. We demand a 60fps check box.
I know …take away the TGP and only have laser guided Mavs.

I have only 12 fps with flir and tfr.
Guess the system is kidding me, cause everything is running smooth
( 6 screens and 2 videocards) -
I’m the same Manta

Sorry, this is not true. Human eye can see much more that 35fps http://amo.net/nt/02-21-01fps.html
But its not very simple thing to say 100% , its bit different per person

( 6 screens and 2 videocards)Yea… HD 6950 is a WEAK card to carry 3 x 1680x1050 screens, you guys need to do some more searching in the internet for the meaning of higher resolution and how it’s impacting the card (in short, higher resolution = More pixels = Your pixel shader is working harder).
I’d suggest for multi-monitors/pit-builders users to get something like a GTX-980 or equivalent ATI card.

OK, I won’t argue about this specifically as I’m no expert to optics. But what I can say is that 30-35 FPS is considered in computer graphics as smooth enough for the human eye. For example take a look here:
http://www.30vs60.com/Left is 30 FPS, right is 60, and sure yes there is a difference but you can’t say that the left isn’t smooth until it’s impossible to play/watch. Now think that with 35 it goes a bit smoother which will seem good enough for most people…

Yes, i think that we are both right because its very personal thing. Im happy with 30fps too but i can see difference if game runs like 60fps but its not huge. And it depends from game to game. Dcs at 30fps wont FEEL smooth as falcon BMS at 30fps

What I can notice is if the fps goes up and down rapidly but if I have steady 40 or 60 I don’t, only if I have “show fps” on, so my solution is to just not show the fps

It is a bit like the small black point on a huge white wall. You never noticed it, but once you have, the black small point is at once your “eyecandy”…

I’ve tried all and every option I could think of and none worked.
With both camera’s active banked up so basicly there is nothing but sky to render and that also did not made any difference, not a single .01 fps
So I guess that leaves me where I am and I’m and gonna use a workaround i.e. minimize the time both are active or use GUNS.
Yes I love the new guns for strafing, no active camera needed so no sweat
There must allways be some reason for upgrading stuf. -
It’s v-synch that is locking you at 48 FPS (possibly 45 FPS to your video card?). V-synch will force frame rates to certain intervals based on your video refresh rate. IOW, you MAY be capable of running, say, 54 FPS with the TGP/Mav on, but 54 is not an even multiple/divisor of the video refresh rate. The next ‘lowest common denominator’ is 48 (or 45?), so that is what V-synch locks to. If you could not maintain 45 FPS, it would lock down to the next lowest multiple, likely 30 FPS, and so on.
Also, with regard to the human eye …. I think the human eye (typically) begins to differentiate/detect frame gaps at around 24 - 30 FPS (hence why NTSC minimum is 29.97), but can see/interpret improved ‘smoothness’ much higher than that.
-
V-sync is not related to my relative “problems” (ease some minds), turning it off has the same effect plus tearing as bonus and that’s like like being bitten by the cat and the dog simulteaniously.

No, but v-synch IS related to why you get ‘only’ 48 FPS instead of 60.
-
“turning it off has the same effect plus” quoting myself
fps is with v-sync on/off excactly the same, does not matter. -
I have the same result as Snelle. I run with vSync enabled because of tearing (TIR-4) and found that I get the same FPS whether vSync is on or off.
All I can do is knock back on the eye-candy to get the best FPS I can so that the drop from the TGP, WPN activation doesn’t turn the sim into a slide show. They always did have a bit of a hit but based on my observations with my system it has doubled or more. It would be nice to know why so I can adjust my setup.
Final note, it still runs smooth and aside from the issue noted above it’s a great upgrade from 4.32 and I would not want to go back.
