Description:A.M.V.I. Aeronautica Militare Virtuale Italiana
The Virtual Italian Air Force (AMVI) starts from the end. It was in fact the last day of the year 2000 when a group of passionaries of flight simulation (and real), gave birth to what would become the first online italian “multi simulator” community . Since then, there have been fifteen years, a period of time, especially in the network world, much more durable than other realities, even considering the important aspect that no financial commitment burden on participants, to which is required “only” dedication to their hobby and mutual helpfulness.
The organization is similar to that of our real counterpart, the Italian Air Force. There is therefore a High Command (AC), formed by the founding partners, which has the power to decide. One Staff (SMAV) that is responsible for defining the guidelines and everything related to the tipically activities carried out and defers their approval to the AC. No less important are supporting members such as the Virtual Air Forces Command (COFAV), the Technical Staff and the Academy Command , which deal with the actual daily management of the communities within its areas of expertise. Membership in these organizations is decided according to the skills, knowledge and availability of members regardless of their “seniority”.
At present the activity is focused mainly on three simulators: the ancient but always glorious Falcon 4.0 in its latest variant Falcon BMS 4.33, the latest IL2 Sturmovik 1946 and DCS Warthog and KA50. Mention apart for projects now in standby like Lock On / LOMAC Flaming Cliff, Project Tobruk, all still waiting for new developments on their software.
How can there be close community of intentions between three simulations so different - two focusing on modern jet plane, the other on propeller aircraft of World War II – arise form the philosophy that underlies AMVI : faithfully simulation of operational procedures actually in use in real Air Forces.
From this fact it was accurately reproduced the process of training to be undergone by the real pilots in learning all the basics you need to fly on an advanced military aircraft and all the exercises required to improve and maintain their flight capability. It may be added to the section of IL2 1946 that an accurate historical research aims to incorporate into the simulator the pathos of those heroic years. We will have therefore in AMVI a path that will lead the “academic course” from simple air knowledge to the most advanced flying techniques and the use of weapons systems. Among the focal points of the interaction of the individual with the other members of his virtual squadron, the harmony and the standardization of procedures are thus of no dispensable points. To make the process accessible to all academic, most of the documents used as the basis of their learning, thousands of pages have been translated into italian language!
One big amount of work is aimed to allow everyone to fly with enormous gratification which they are the juice of AMVI activities: multiplayer missions with dozens of participants and, very important, both within and outside the community. Always, in fact, AMVI organize or participate in tournaments and campaigns of historical reconstruction, national and international, where everything was learned during training activities can be put on display in a very accurate tactical environment. So, not only a reality tied to national boundaries but a long collaboration with similar groups of virtual flight in Europe, to which are recently added, thanks to the larger number of broadband connections, also North Americans groups.
The validity of our training is demonstrated by our flagship: the ability to fly in official activities in collaboration with the real Italian Air Force, as the experience of the 2009 Pessima Fair in Manduria (south of Italiy in Puglia region), the Blue Day in Pratica di Mare where AMVI hosted a B737-800 cockpit simulat or even the 2008 Security Expo, important trade event in the defense sector, which saw the participation of AMVI in air defense simulated missions under the leadership of the Airspace Control Authority, the 32nd Air Force Radar Squadron of Otranto.
A visit to our forums, if not required, it is strongly recommended to take a look not only on the military flight simulation but also more generally on what is happening in general aviation. The sections which are opened to the public leave ample room for debate or the simple search of a solution to an hardware or software problem.
I conclude by saying that even after fifteen years, we are still at the beginning of our journey, into each new member and every program there is an incentive to push us forward, one step at a time, in search of virtually flying on our computers as would be done by our real counterpart. Never as in this case we can say that our only limit, albeit virtual, is the sky.
Gen. Paul “Catu” Catuogno
Staff AMVI -
I’ll see it asap. Right now I’m upgrading my pc hw.

Recruiting: YES
New pilot required qualifications: No age limit but maturity and a willingness to be a team player. To be able to commit to 1 flying session a week, Sunday 2000z / 2000BST.

Description:
We are an informal group of friends from Europe and the East Coast USA, two of us are retired military fast jet aircrew another is currently a first officer flying B787’s, who get together on a Wednesday and Sunday evening / afternoon, timezone dependent together with 4 other guys from around the world. The Vampyres was first formed in 2005 and 3 of the members have been flying together since 2003.We are looking for more virtual aircrews to help expand our knowledge and enjoyment of Falcon BMS so if you are an expert who would be willing to teach all of us the finer points of BMS or a beginner who would be willing to learn as much as we can instruct then we will welcome you with open arms.
Our flying involves training sessions (usually flown on a Wednesday night) and we fly Campaign’s on the Sunday evening both to varying degree’s of success, no one here is a TOPGUN but we are good at what we do. Our flying sessions are usually Live streamed to our Twitch page and recorded whereby videos are created and uploaded to YouTube by way of providing the membership with a video diary of our exploits. Whilst we enjoy a light hearted environment out side the cockpit once we are in the seat and flipping switches we are ultimately professional and we draw on our real life experience to provide a solid military ambiance which has proven popular with our members current and past. We use Teamspeak as our main voice comms, we have yet to get off our backsides and use the in game voice system, call it ignorance
The Vampyres is run on a friends based system, it’s light hearted, unstructured, we do not follow a strict set of rules but we do rely on honesty, consideration for other members and the commitment to the Sunday’s flying session. In return for being a part of our fellowship we organise a yearly get together, previous years have included attendance to airshows (2014 we were all together at the RAF Waddington show), last year we got together for a long weekend and visited the RAF museum Hendon and the RAF Tangmere museum in the UK. This year we are looking to head to Florida to enjoy the hospitality of one of our American members. There is of course no obligation to attend these meet n greets.
Well that is our sales pitch, we hope you might be interested in at least coming along for a couple of flights to see what we are about.

Guys I just updated the List.
where you see
##OFF##
next to a squadron doesn’t mean the squadron doesn’t exist.
It means there is no post in this thread to link to, and it’s from the old thread which doesn’t exist anymore.
So please guys from those squadrons that are still active please post here and your link will be updated.
Also if you are just a member in one of those squadrons please inform them so to post the data here. You can see a guide how to post the squadron info on the second post.
Finally if you are 100% sure that a squadron is not operational anymore please send me a pm or post here.
Thanx in advance.

VIAF - Virtual Italian Air Force

Number of active pilots: 32
Timezone: UTC+1
Recruiting: YES
New pilot required qualifications: Must be 18 y.o.

Description:
Virtual Italian Air Force (VIAF) is one of the oldest and most experienced Italian communities especially dedicated to all aspects of flight simulation, having more than 13 years of continuous activity and over 30 members.VIAF, as a Community, was established as a comfortable place where people, interested to flight simulation, can share experiences, ideas, knowledge and, above all, fun. We encourage and use realistic operational scenarios and S.O.P. and our members are actually engaged especially with Falcon BMS, DCS and IL-2. We organize and mantain courses both for Falcon BMS and DCS, divided into rookie, intermediate and advanced classes and therefore able to entertain a wide audience of virtual pilots, from the new ones to the more experienced.
Besides the virtual entertainment and daily concrete activity with the aforementioned flight simulators, as a no-profit association VIAF aims to spread the aeronautical culture and has been cooperating since its establishment with Aeronautica Militare Italiana (AMI). Under this official capacity, VIAF is official partner in dozens of aeronautical events, as happened for example in September 2015 during the celebration of the 55th Anniversary of Frecce Tricolori, in which VIAF officially made available for trial flights to a wide public its own 1:1 scale working cockpit of F-16 Fighting Falcon, equipped with Falcon BMS and “NEW Balkans” theater.
Because of its history, experience and resources, VIAF is also a well-known and respected international partner, as testified by the official invitation to participate to the celebration for the 75th anniversary of Locarno airport and the 100th anniversary of the ‘Swiss Air Force’ in 2013. It also participated to NATO events, lastly in Rome in 2015 on the occasion of the M&S Standardization Workshop, dedicated to the standardization application of Modelling and simulation (M&S) of realistic environments in gaming and entertainment scenarios.

Hi there community,
I decided to close down the 1st “Stingers”, i simply do not have the time anymore to organize a squadron. Right now, real life commitments are way to big and strong for me to be able to spend hours a week on a virtual squadron. And besides, when i see my real life flying schedules, waking up at 4:00 AM, coming back home from a day of flying at 20:00 home … and the next day i go for night flying …nah, the last thing i want to do then is then sit down and organize a squadron.
It has been a fun ride, we had nice exchanges with the Belgian Virtual Tigers, and the Simulated Royal Danish Air Force, winterhide was one of those high points. I also thank the Simulated RoyalDanish Air Force for taking “Windblow” amongst their ranks while i was busy with looking for solutions for my career.
It is bitter, because those people carried with me the anxiety and constantly supported me during my difficult times, they always had the right word for me, the time to come on TS and push me forward.
At least this doesn’t mean that with the “Stingers” closing, i will leave the BMS world, neither is this true for “Windblow”, i can’t say more for now, since something is in the works, so watch out for our new forum signature in the upcoming weeks.
Cheers out boys!!!

Sad to hear that you are closing the Stingers. We loved flying with you guys. I can see the reason why, but still think it’s a shame that you cannot continue. As always RL comes first. Many RL happy landings Spooky.

7th Air Force CommandSilver Tigers
7th Air Force Command was initially founded in 25 November 2005, eventually established on 19 May 2006. It is an F16 Falcon community that tries to reach aviation passionates via its website, executes active training programmes and missions. Currently, there are 3 Squadrons associated with 7th Tactical Air Force which are 711 Kaplan, 721 İlker and 731 Bulut. We try to simulate real war conditions by using Falcon BMS 4.33 which simulates F16 and its systems closest to the real life. While we are doing so, we act according to official procedures and regulations as if we are real military personnel. Nevertheless, outside of our flights and trainings; our community is a particularly friendship, family and knowledge sharing environment. Our common characteristic is the passion of aviation. It is not possible for us to abandon aviation, after we saw and heard the noise of an F16 during take off.Welcome to our world! We hope you will enjoy being with us.

8th Virtual Fighter Wing
Website: http://www.eighthfighterwing.com
Language: English
Number of active pilots: 10-12
Timezone: Primarily North American time zones with provisions for pilots in UTC+2 and UTC+8
Recruiting: NO
New pilot required qualifications: Must be 18 years old, speak English fluently, know how to ramp start, employ most weapons, air refuel, navigate in IMC, and be able to participate at least twice a month.
Contact person: Rybo or Redshift
Description:
The 8th VFW caters to advanced virtual Viper drivers with what we believe to be the single most realistic training program in the community. The 8th VFW B-Course (IQT) is patterned after the real world B-Course syllabus and is both challenging and rewarding. It consists of 16-20 sorties covering aircraft handling, tactical formation, fighter fundamentals, ACM, basic surface attack and tactics, low altitude step down, and a B-Course graduation sortie that will test your knowledge, brevity, and tactics. Students can expect to put in approximately 20 hours of ground study and 40 hours of flight time to complete the course to obtain “Basic Mission Capable” status and participate in weekly wing sorties. We also offer a follow-on A-Course (MQT), which is also patterned after the real world A-Course, to obtain “Combat Mission Ready” status. Continuation training is ongoing upon completion of the A-Course to maintain currency and learn specialized tactics. We also offer an in-house developed ARMS (Aviation Resource Management System) based on the real software used by the USAF and many other air forces around the world. The 8th VFW ARMS tracks flight time, real world currency items, ranks, ribbons and awards, general stats, and includes a verbose logbook for each pilot. The 8th VFW ARMS also includes hundreds (literally!) of other functions for flight planning and flight filing. Combined with a second-to-none custom wing install we believe that we offer the single most realistic Fighter Wing experience for any advanced pilots willing to put in the time and effort to hone their skills and become one of the most lethal BMS Viper drivers in the community! -
Hello Rybo, nice website, I like the spirit. Good continuation, and maybe see you around in BMS skies.
