Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…
-
…that explains it - lack of a gun. I was talking strictly USMC, because that’s what I know about. But I also know the GR can carry a gun…so I’d still have to think they only operate this way with strakes…at least that’s what I see from a quick look at pictures of GR Mk.9s carrying Litening on the CL. And I very seriously doubt they hover with them…seriously.
You might not have taken note of the quote by a USMC NCO above, discussing the use of the LITENING on the centerline in combat ops?
-
That makes a lot of sense, knowing a bit about it all…and yes, it would have been non-trivial to run such provisions to the CL - unless they leveraged the GR Mk.9 implementation (if the RAF did it first?..I’d wager they did). It’s been a long time since I’ve operated Harriers…I’m sure much has changed.
See Blu’s for the comment about the pod, but as an aside, GR9s actually can’t carry a gun. They’re set to accept the ADEN 25, which was cancelled, and require modification to reaccept the ADEN gun pod of the older GR7s, a modification they never received before being decommissioned.

Yup, I did…but in peacetime ops I never see one that isn’t on the wing. Besides…the jammer goes on the centerline, and I’m not willing to accept that the Marines would give up either their gun or their ALQ. That gun woiks!
Seriously, the under belly environment (thermally and vibrationally) of a Harrier in hover is a wrecking ball…and those pods…er…require some care and feeding.

I did manage to find some pictures of GRs carrying Litening under the gun…I even managed to find one mounted in place of the left strake…shudder…and I mean that in the vibrational sense. Still…knowing a bit about the gun, the pod, the jet, the engine, etc…I still have a hard time believing this arrangement would prove very useful - from a practical standpoint.
-
WRT the jammer, its not like a jammer is very useful against certain threats. I can see some training scenarios where you would happily trade a jammer for an extra bomb - IS, anyone?

I really don’t know what to say, other than the GR9s did carry their TGPs on the fuselage, and I’m finding information such as the link i’ll put below saying the USMC tested and began fielding harriers with Litening pods mounted between the gun and ammo pod.

I have no idea how they use the airplane now, but back when I was around them their primary function was CAS and the jammer was a big deal…but then, self protection is always a “big deal”.
I also know that folks flew a lot lower during those days…they don’t tend to do that so much anymore. But you also have to consider the weapon set the jet can carry - it’s a “close and personal” sort of platform, and there isn’t really room to hang much more than a garment bag inside it…which isn’t a joke - there’s a garment bag rack in the aft bay!

I’m agreeing with you…I just don’t think that the pods fare as well as elsewhere when slung under a Harrier.

why does everybody keep wining about the scenery? They weren’t good enough in 4.32 bladibladibla. They update to high res textures i 4.33, plus addition of trees & grass. Then they complain about the drop in FPS and some still keep yapping about the ‘crappy’ tiles.
Same for the weather. Not good enough in 4.32. They update the hell out of it in 4.33 an then they find some new $hit to complain about.Newsflash, it’s a combat simulator. I care 200 times more about avionics & cockpit accuracy then all the other eye candy outside. When I’m flying MP with the sqn or in a coop mission with others I care about the mission, the procedures, the execution and the team work. I’m not sight seeing the scenery, not counting leafs on the trees and not getting horny on the wing flex, improved vapours etc of my wingman a that time.
If you’ into that stuff, get FSX or DCS I’d say.I agree. A great lot to be enjoyed in present BMS 4.33. Let’s explore the present beauty and features in Bms 4.33. I am full of trust the incredible developers have more things up their sleeves for BMS.
After 4.32 and all the updates that followed, had doubt 4.33 would bounce out in the manner it did.
To think that all we have in present BMS is absolutely free, kudos to the developer. -
A functional Mig-25/Mig-31 with clickable cockpit

Just thought about this today– don’t know if the BMS devs lurk around here, but…
Falcon 4.xx has always had a white smoke option from the jet exhaust. How about a smoke option from the wingtips, triggered by <shift+alt+ctrl></shift+alt+ctrl>S, with green smoke on the right wingtip and red smoke on the left wingtip? This would be useful for instructors, YouTube vids pointing out maneuvers, formation demos, and other training purposes. Plus it would look really cool in a 4-flight overhead break landing.
-
Because for now, smoke generation is linked to engines position.
Best would be “smokwinders”.
Maybe in 3 - 4 weeks.
-
Smokewinders would be pretty awesome and much more realistic than the current smoke option.
-
Considering what I would wish for in BMS, I still long for the moving map modelled in Falcon 4 AF. Understand there are technical issues limiting actual implementation of moving map in present day bms 3d cockpit.
Really would relish having it back on. -
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but a longer “hold” and rollback when trapping at the boat would be most helpful. I noted that if you go MIL upon touchdown like you are supposed to the hold disengages with little to no rollback and then the jet lurches forward. However, if you go IDLE on touchdown then jet is rolled back quite a ways and it looks quite lovely.

I would suggest to create the AMX for our italian friends. There is the aircraft manual availabe to this link here.
It is not so performant like a F-16 but it might be funny for some pilots.
In my case I would like to see the T-45 Goshawk :

would it be possible to incorporate black out possibility depending on were your head is tilted ie. blacking out easier when your head is tilted backwards(defensive BFM) than when you look forward??

Just one small request - I would like to have changed sound for Order of Battle button. That shoot always scares the shit outa me. If anybody can tell me, where to find that sound file, I would really appreciate.
Edit: Found, please disregard
