Reduced fps in Bms 4.33.1
-
Hello guys,
Really glad to have bms 4.33.1 released and thanks to the development guys.
Just curious, anybody notice a reduced framerate in 4.33.1.
Flew same TE mission in 4.33 and 4.33.1 with same configuration and there is a noticeable difference in the fps I getting. Bms 4.33 seems smoother.
Changelog mentioned some texture improvement, wondering if this could account for the hit on fps -
That’s weird because we noticed the opposite.
There is a huge improvement for many of the testers (but one actually) that reported more FPS with 4.33.1 than with 4.33
Actually 4.33.1 made 4.33 playable with all the goodies ON againproviding your details might actually be handy if you want further input on the issue ….

That is good news Rd. Must be missing out on the show then. Will dig in some more in my settings, probably post it here for more scrutiny.
Thanks. -
Please compare your falcon bms.cfg files (and SETUP > GRAPHICS tab in the UI) from 4.33 and 4.33 Update 1 to make sure you have everything set up exactly the same.
If you have any custom settings in your AMD CCC/Radeon Settings or NVIDIA Control Panel/Inspector (or similar software which is tweaking the graphics) make sure they are not working on only one version (4.33 or 4.33.1) and skewing your results.
If you’ve done all this and are still getting worse performance from Update 1 then you a member of a very select club and should report your system specifications and all software running as per Red Dog’s request above.

I was having bad frame rate drops in Update 1.
To fix it I edited this line in “falcon BMS.cfg”, the default is 0 (max), which seemed to be the cause. By editing this to 2 my frame rates are better than in the original 4.33.set g_nAnisotropicValue 2 // The max anisotropic filter value to use if anisotropic filtering is ON in the setup UI. Valid values: 0 = max available (default), 2, 4, 8, 16
Hopefully this will work for you also.

To be honest, I’m surprised there are not more threads about the insane performance improvements in Update 1 from other users.
I am running a full AMD setup (4350 CPU / 7850 GPU) with 3x1 eyefinity, and U1 literally doubled my framerate from 30+ to 60+.I’m sure others are grateful and marvel at the technical expertise of the BMS team, especially those riding the backside of the bleeding hardware curve like me.

Strange, I simply have no difference between the two versions Both around 50-60 depending on situaton, location and weather.

Is your V Sync on? Turning it off for me was the biggest improvement I’ve had in FPS with 4.33 (haven’t flown U1 yet due to a SSD issue). I run a high enough resolution that my frames rarely get above refresh rate and I think something in how BMS buffers with V-Sync slows it down more in those cases. I’m still a believer in it if you can mostly drive fps over refresh hz for sure or if you get tearing.

Thanks for the Tip, will try it tonight. Maybe switching Tripple Buffering off too?

Settings maxed in the sim and much better performance than 4.32 with my i5/4670k, 16 gb ram, gtx960 4gb.

IIRC the general rule of thumb is to keep it on with V-Sync, I don’t think it helps with V-Sync off.

Thanks for the good news, that’s basically my system besides switch the gtx960 to a R9 290.

Runs smoother and looks better too!
-
On my rig everything runs comparable or better even with focus shadows on. Only exception is when I look backward and pull Gs -> “heavy” vapors on the LE kick in, and there is a big drop of fps (fps goes from 45 -> 22) even with reduced particles and Texture filterig Quality - High performance set in Nvidia Inspector. With “light” vapors no problem. In BMS 4.33 the dropdown is not so noticable.

What about TGP/Mav WPN drop?

Can´t notice a framerate drop.
On my system the opposite happens. I´m getting 25-30 frames more with 4.33.1
and this with a 5 display setup and running MFD Extractor. Good Job Guy´s:headb: -

I also had a good improvement with 433.1 so strange…

I too got better frame rates with 4.33.U1 over 4.33 don’t know why and don’t care, just glad of them ;0) - many thanks.

I Tested with my 8Years old PC,
-I5 2,67Mhz
-SSD60GB- AMD R7 240/4G
4.33.1(FPS 30-51 with a bit Stuttering and not all Eyecandys on.)
With all eyecandys i have on this old Guy 25-31 FPS no external Windows(MFD etc.)
4.33 (FPS 30-38)I think 4.33.1 is Faster as 4.33 on the same PC
This weekend testing on my Flying PC
