Balkans Theater of Operation for BMS 4.33 U5
-
maybe I will check
-
there is no Balkans theatre in the ui list
Hi sub101,
You might need to edit the theatre.lst file to have the theatre show up.
This is how you do it:- Go to your BMS directory, specifically this folder:
[YOUR DRIVE]:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Terrdata\theaterdefinition - Open the “theater.lst” file with a text editor like notepad.
- Add this line:
“Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Balkans.tdf”
after the last line that there is. - Save and reboot, fire up BMS and go to the theater menu option and it should be showing.
Mine looks like this:
#LIST OF ALL KNOWN THEATERS
Add-On Israel\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Israel.tdf
Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Korea KTO.tdf
Add-On Korea TvT\Terrdata\theaterdefinition-v3.61\Korea_TvT_v3.61.tdf
Add-On Korea Strong DPRK\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Korea Strong DPRK.tdf
Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Balkans.tdf
Add-On Battle For Balkans\stand-alone\theater.tdf
Add-On REDFLAG\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Standalone.tdfOn a sidenote, make sure your data folder is neatly organised:
//Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans
in which you will see ‘art’, ‘campaign’ and so on: the subfolders. Make sure you don’t have it as:
//Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\Add-On Balkans_subfolder_Good luck!
- Go to your BMS directory, specifically this folder:
-
Plus there’s always the old Falcon theatre change dance:
After installing new theatre:
1. Switch to new theatre
2. Exit BMS
3. Open new theatre and go test fly it.Have to do this every time you switch between theatres, new or originals. Else there are many odd things that happen.

I am wondering whether I am having the same issue. I installed the following:
Balkans 4.33.1c for BMS 4.33 Update 1
Then put Update 1 for Balkans 4.33.1c for BMS 4.33 Update 1 in the Falcon BMS folder and ran it there. It asked me if I wanted to write over files and I said yes.
I see no theater folder listed in the config page. BTW - this is the first theater that I installed. I will try to edit the file list tonight.
-
You shouldn’t have too. As long as you install the main to the bms root folder that should be all you have to do. You shouldn’t need to add to the theater.lst file. The installer does it automatically

I just helped a friend a minute ago and all went smooth. What Cougar says is correct. His problem was he did not point to the root directory.
-
"If you have the main install named Balkans_4.33.1c1.zip…that version of the install includes the update to fix numerous 3DDB issues as well as the previous hotfix." I would prefer to just download the 4.33.1c1.zip to have the all in one but, I don’t seem to see a link for that?
-
It is re uploading now. Should be finished in about 2 to 3 hours.
-
Thanks Coug
I’ll look for it tomorrow
And again many thanks. -
-
cougar - I assume you didn’t add anything new to the newest version, and if I have the previous theatre version plus Update 1, I’m OK, is that right?
-
Correct the only thing that was updated were the runway and taxiway lights on the new bases. It shouldn’t cause any issues if you have the split version…1c and update 1 verses 1c1
The lights were updated to have a switch on them that would be turned off when not on approach and on when calling the tower and during the night and inclement weather
-
That’s fine with me, thank you

I uninstalled the Balkans Theater. I put the installer in the BMS folder and ran it from there. Then installed it in the BMS root directory. I also put the updater in the BMS rout directory and ran it from there.as
It appeared in the Theater list. I selected it and then it crashed. I also installed the Israeli Theater and it is loads fine.
Any ideas?

Is anyone else having this problem? I have had it crash when selecting it, but I have also had the Israeli theater do that too. How many times did you try it? I would try it again. I’m not sure why it isn’t working for you. If you have TeamViewer, I would be willing to meet up with you sometime and we can try to figure out what is going on.

No problems here. Started and restarted many times without a hitch.
Also, I saved a bunch of TEs from the previous version and ran them through mission commander which sorted and repaired duplicate camp ids. The all seem to work just fine, at least in single player. Will try MP on Tuesday.

Hi Cougar,
Thanks! I uninstalled and reinstalled it again. It seems to be stable now. I look forward to flying this theater!. Thanks for all the hard work. It’s amazing that I purchased F4 in 1998. I had an F-22 HOTAS and a Suncom back then. I took a break to have a family and recently built a new computer to get back into to flying sims. It’s amazing that F4 is still around. It’s even more amazing that it doesn’t seem like an old sim. I don’t think any software developer could have come out with something better if they started from scratch.

I still have the same problem. I think I’ll delete the entire directory of Balkans, and reinstall it again, today.

Not sure if already noted in this thread, and probably known issues, but Gioia del Colle has the TACAN listed as 124X in the NAVAID and 125X in the airbase chart, and different VHF for tower, location, etc… Just FYI in case not known.
