Useful information (docs) for Carrier Ops

Actually, your airspeed will be the same for on-speed at any given gross weight, no matter how fast the CV is moving or the wind is blowing over deck - your ground speed will change…but you can control your overshoot/undershoot with AOA and power.

The lines I gave you above are not bugged, but need keys assigned to them (they are ‘no key assigned’ as posted).
However, in the default keyfiles there is a typo in one callback and it shows as xxxTEFCDMxxx instead of xxxTEFCMDxxx. I believe that may be the issue you’re describing.
Edit:
This is from the default BMS - Full.key:
SimTEFCMDInc 115 0 0x58 1 0 0 -0 “CKPIT: F-18 FLAP Switch - Step Up”
SimTEFCMDDec 115 0 0x57 1 0 0 -0 “CKPIT: F-18 FLAP Switch - Step Down”
SimTEFCMDAuto 115 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 -0 “CKPIT: F-18 FLAP Switch - AUTO”
SimTEFCMDHalf 115 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 -0 “CKPIT: F-18 FLAP Switch - HALF”
SimTEFCDMFull 115 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 -0 “CKPIT: F-18 FLAP Switch - FULL”Change the ‘-0’ to ‘1’ will allow it to show and be changed in the game UI.
Fix the highlighted typo to ‘CMD’.

I stand corrected.

You are right. That was the reason. I copied the keystrokes from the BMS FULL file. After i change from CDM to CMD the
SimTEFCMDFull -1 0 0X44 2 0 0 1 “CKPIT: F-18 FLAP Switch - FULL”works fine for me. Thanks.
Maybe the developers could correct for the next release the BMS - Full.key file to avoid misunderstanding in the future.
And in the doc folder a devoloper could correct this PDF.:
E:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Checklists & Cockpit Diagrams\F-18 Cockpit Diagram\3D cockpit F-18 Hornet.pdfBest regards,

I moved this topic to documentation forum and renamed it. Keep adding useful information missing from the manuals. It’s a great idea and might be collected into a full dedicated BMS manual at some point

Hello,
one solution for this question could be the following.
1./ Can i see in the cockpit the air brake position? In the F-16 i have on the left
side an indicator. But in the F/A-18C i did not find something similar yet.I used in the past a special sound file to indicate, that airbrakes are opened.
If someone want, then replace the orignal file after a backup, and you get a special sound, if airbrakes are open.
Rename
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Sounds\brakwind.ogg
to
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Sounds\brakwind_backup.oggand then use the following new file inside the folder above.
Regards

I often use the breakwind sound…

No - there is no indication of speed brake position in the Hornet other than a light on the upper left brow to indicate BRAKES ……
1. I thought BMS took the eyebrow ‘Brakes’ indicator in the F/A-18C away in v 4.33.1?? ……
Stevie indicates a ‘brakes’ light should be in the left eyebrow. I am certain it was in the original 4.33 release. But now it’s gone in the update (4.33.1.). Maybe it needs to be added back?

Yes - if it’s not there anymore, it should be.

Hello again,
1./ Has someone the correct UHF/VHF frequencies of the several aircraft carriers?
2./ It is possible to locate the carriers with a tacan channel? Do they have an ils frequency?Regards

Highlighted carriers are updated models for 4.33.

I think the Roosevelt has an updated model as well.

Could be …. a little unclear.
@User:
…. At this point the Jet Blast Deflector behind you will come up on the carrier 3D models that support it. At the moment these carriers are the Carl Vinson and the Enterprise…
@Release:
Improved meat ball on carriers CVN 70, 71, 65 ….
…
Updated carriers Vinson and Enterprise for landing runway and ILS
Updated Carrier VINSON and ENTERPRISE :

Ok, thanks. I tested this with the enterprise carrier. The UHF frequency works. But the TCN Channel 028X seems to be no effect.
Take a look at the screenshot. You can see the TCN Channel 028X and i activated TCN Mode from the MFD.
The arrow shows a direction to an airport 47 miles away. This mission is the “Carrier Landing mission” from Falcon BMS 4.33 U1.
Do i something wrong? I think, there exists no ILS frequency for an CV ?

ILS freq for all carriers is 111.1, course is BRC -11 degrees.
You entered the backup TACAN (below the MFD). You’re actually on (looks like) 75X (i.e. Kunsan) …… bottom of the ‘DED’, digits on the right of that line.
Push “1” on the ICP to and set to 28X in T/R mode.

Thanks. Now it works.

I just checked the model and it uses the same as the Vinson but with correct “71” numbering. Didn’t check beyond that for operational TACAN or needles.

Thanks guys, I only just started getting my feet wet in the Hornet and this thread is a godsend and full of useful information. A separate manual would be very much appreciated, even if it’s just a “best practise” guide in the beginning.
