F/a-18 hud size issue
-
Is there a way to fix the f/a-18C hud so that it fits? I saw several threads on it but they all were for trackir. I have tried increasing the FOV to 75% but that did not help.

press and hold your mouse wheel and drag the mouse forward, and maybe also press and hold the mouse wheel while scrolling up

It’s not an ‘FOV thing’, it’s a ‘head position’ thing (or, maybe, a ‘virtual head position’ thing).

I had the same problem, I thought it couldn’t be solved without a TrackIR system, then I tried what razo said and managed to get the whole of the HUD display inside its frame.

with trackir active?

Dema: no, I don’t have the TIR, that’s why I was so excited when another solution was suggested. I held the mouse wheel pressed and made the perspective adjustments till all of the HUD symbology was visible within the HUD frame, then released the wheel and adjusted the FOV to my liking.

Guys, maybe I can help.
For 3d views just set your viewvpoint with mouse holding middle button, (up/down with holding middle button and scroll) , and that’s it. Just dont reset your fov or you will have to do it again.But for 2d guidedviews it is somewhat different, requires editing art/cockpitart/%plane%/3dcockpit.dat , for your plane.
You know for a (chat) command ‘.gvd’ or ‘.guidedviewdump’ , now , not to explain something what is already in main manual, but how to use this for creating a view preset for 2d for users not having any kind of tir support.
In manual is described how to use this command and how to create a custom views, but generally what you want is export your current preset coordinates and use them to create default center view for guidedviews, which are 2d views.example:
//customview 0.006233 0.001912 -0.010095 -0.024000 -0.000000 0.000000 59.999996 "center1" 1; //customview 0.018531 -0.000000 -0.007764 -0.022130 -0.000000 0.000000 69.999992 "center2" 1; //customview 0.016200 -0.000000 -0.008000 -0.022130 -9.996270 0.000000 69.999992 "center2up" 1; customview 0.015883 0.040278 0.018326 1.458329 -26.396080 0.007139 20.000004 "Right MFD" 1; customview 0.000000 -0.000000 0.000000 1.108329 -21.909981 -0.164438 30.000002 "RWR ICP DED" 1; customview 0.023416 0.000000 -0.005791 1.055832 -14.659429 -0.000013 64.999992 "customnew" 1; //Guided Views guidedview 0 0.018531 -0.000000 -0.007764 -0.022130 -0.000000 0.000000 69.999992 0 22 9000 4 18000 1 27000 7'' guidedview 1 0.016200 -0.000000 -0.008000 -0.022130 -9.996270 0.000000 69.999992 0 0 9000 14 18000 2 27000 17'' guidedview 2 0.005678 0.001704 0.027835 -1.518839 -32.854435 -0.680207 59.999996 0 1 9000 10 18000 3 27000 12'' guidedview 3 0.041024 0.001926 0.054822 -0.379488 -49.691322 -0.772880 59.999996 0 2 ''

Yes it does.
You have to uncheck the “Enable TrackIR Vector” box in Setup -> Controllers -> Advanced.
Then you can hold the MMB and drag your mouse to adjust the eye position. Hold MMB and scroll up/down to adjust the eyepoint height.
