Question on co-ordinates displayed in FCR FREEZE mode
-
Doesn’t fit to the picture said numbers give.
Offset?Actually it matches perfectly, as long as you go by the idea that he meant ownship 251/35 in the first one which is a fair assumption since it is easy to misread.
I plotted it to verify:
-
After some experimentation I understand it now.
The bearing and range are to the active steerpoint. But my experimentation raises another question. A small circle with a line from its centre exiting the circle appears on the display, almost like a velocity vector. That moved away while I approached the steerpoint. What does it represent?

Are you looking at the hud?
If so it sounds like the tadpole. Reference TO-BMS1F-16CM-1 pg 104. -
No. It’s on the FCR. It doesn’t always appear when changing steerpoints. And it seems to stick at the top of the display.

Yes.
Concerning your symbol, supanova, no clue. NAV or other mode? Apart from a screenshot…
-
You can see the symbol appear at the bottom of the FCR and gradually works its way upwards and to the left:
Problem solved.

Your aircraft position.

That would explain it. I tested it again and it was visible through all steerpoints. I’m not sure why it was only visible with that steerpoint before.
-
That is a strange artifact… moves up the center of the FCR regardless of whether you bank or not… ???
I don’t know…therefore, aliens…

Datalink enabled and no Datalink maybe?
Or markpoints set and no markpoints set?
Just guessing - no basis in fact -
I think the question was answered, guys. If a personal test of yours invalidates it, let us know.
-
I will have to put the fact I didn’t see it when using freeze at other times as user error, because I haven’t been able to replicate it since then.
Not important, but something that puzzled me, given I wasn’t expecting movement on the FCR when using freeze.
